You missed out on one chance for improvement, Z height... You are no longer constrained by equalateral triangles, so why not make it taller while keeping the existing footprint? Looks like you will have a mx z height of 100mm, why not go 200mm? This is a movement in the reprap community, more height for larger prints is a premium. To get more height with this system you would have to re-order tby WildBill - General
I just move the clip over a bit that is near my nozzle when homing.by WildBill - General
I agree, the indigogo should move forward. Reguarding the bearing, you can already purchase one off the shelf from vxb.com, they are known as 8mm u groove bearings and run about $12.95/ea. You may need to modify the idler to accomidate these bearings, they are 11mm wide x 24mm tall. I think 608zz is 7mm wide x 22mm tall.by WildBill - General

nophead, i respect you but everything i have read says otherwise. First off T5 is 5mm pitch, MXL is a bit over 2mm pitch. Second, the tooth profile maybe trapazoidal, but they are deeper with more rounded corners and really grab industrial pullies. Third, they have been used by me in the past in various similar industrial machines, but for vision inspection equipment. Quote about typical MXLby WildBill - Mechanics

Nophead, it's not a myth if it is listed in the engineering design specifications. Maybe you got some with different tolerances than typical T5 or T2.5. In the end though it is a trapezoidal profile tooth, and a round tooth will give less slip.by WildBill - Mechanics
My only complaint is when you see an obvious rip-off of an existing reprap design with no advancements, improvements, or engineering changes and they even use reprap electronics and PCBs. Yet they continue to claim it is a "new" printer that is "self developed" and basically slapping all the DEVs in the face for their hardwork. This is blatant plagiarism! Personally why not expand on XAML format? It will do color and is already a save option in most 3D commercial CAD packages. It also has the advantage of being able to easily integrate into web documents!by WildBill - Experimental
I use Cura for non-manifold prints and prints that Slic3r doesn't like, what is your question specifically?by WildBill - Experimental
Considering there are free alternatives you may consider lowering your costing, you would actually get more pro users this way. I personally use Slic3r, Cura, SFACT, and SF41 in that order to generate my g-code. If I didn't like the first g-code I would use one of the other generating programs. I understand that you want to make money, (seems like everyone in 3D printing is trying to atleast) buby WildBill - Experimental
Last I checked RepRap could produce higher quality prints than some commercial systems, so your statement "Not to knock anyone's hard work but its very clear when a part is printed by a RepRap/ RepStarp or even an entry commercial 3D printer" is incorrect. Please read here:by WildBill - Mechanics
A .9deg stepper at 1/8 microstepping is has more accurate holding resolution and has more torque than a 1.8deg at 1/16 microstepping. The problem is that a .9deg stepper needs to count twice as many steps to move the same amount on 1/16 microstepping, this will quickly eat up your tiny micro controller's memory and introduce pauses in the print. So you are limited on running them with 1/8 microstby WildBill - Mechanics
Use MXL belting, much cheaper than GT2 and nearly the same tooth profile and pitch as well as it being designed for dual direction transitions, unlike T5 or T2.5. You can also get a 10 tooth pulley for MXL for a 5mm shaft from SDP/SI.by WildBill - Mechanics
If we have to start the hackerspace in my garage or basement I am all for it, becuase I have the spare space! I think you are right about people being hypnotized. I want to start bringing my reprap to the local colleges and see if there is an interest in college age kids. Personally, I'm not a fan of the Prusa threaded rod trapezoidal frame. Both of those printers are more rigid, less prone to racking, easier to assemble, and take less time to calibrate and will not lose calibration so easily. Firmware would be Marlin (for features) Electronics planned on Azteeg X1 (for cost) Hotend planned on JHead (for reliability and cost) I am open to suggestions! Great! The fiance works weekends and I have the kids, but we have an empty finished basement (due to a flood). If anyone wants to get together and print over the weekends I have the space for it. I'll buy some tables if anyone is interested. My old prusa is used and abused but still going strong. I started building it last July after I retired my Darwin. I am willing to print part sets and setup group buys to build more repraps in the area. If you are interested in helping/joining please let me know, you can find me on IRC and occasionally in the forums. Thanks, wildBillby WildBill - Mankato Blue Earth County Minnesota RUG
Hey, I live on the Hilltop near Mully's, there is another guy on IRC named InterNick or IntraNick and he lives in St. Peter. I'm new to the area and trying to start the user group up. I'm always in IRC and rarely on the forums. Let's get something together and print something! Always nice to know who is in the area with a working printer incase I need parts too I break things a lot! Thanks,by WildBill - Mankato Blue Earth County Minnesota RUG

nice looking board you have there!by WildBill - Controllers
IMHO the FPGA could be used for more than just a controller interface and could be more rewarding on many of other projects that take more processing power, it would be used for being a host and controller all in one with the proper sheilds it can have vga output and keyboard/mouse interface.
