I got my first recognizable print!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dug around a bit in gcode and thought perhaps since the line to move the extruder 15mm was a G1 and the rest of the z axis lines seemed to be a G0 that maybe it was something with that command so I changed it to G0 and tried it, and failed Then I just removed the line completely and let the z axis home normally rather thby Wpflum - Prusa i3 and variants
My x and z end stops are in the same place yours are but the y is on the back so my home position is the front right corner. I had a lucky accident where while trying to determine if the z was being raised correctly during the print instead of trying to go through the bed I wound up with the nozzle almost at the correct height above the bed after the 15mm plunge and when I let the print continueby Wpflum - Prusa i3 and variants
I've got a problem that is really giving me grief. The reason the printer crashed last night after I got it moving and extruding is that even though the everything homes to zero, so I have home at the front right hand corner and the extruder head zeros just above the bed when I print using a cura produced g-code from a sd card it zeros the printer then tries to move the z axis 15 mm below the beby Wpflum - Prusa i3 and variants
I used the config file that dooms101 posted earlier for the settings. I'll post pictures later, right now it looks like a rats nest I plan on printing one of the chain style wire runs for the finished product.by Wpflum - Prusa i3 and variants
Well, I finally got it trying to print, turns out there must be a setting somewhere that needed it to be hotter even though I manually set it lower. I reset the electronics reloaded the print from the card and then turned up the temp on the bed and nozzle, the printer started to move but seemed to be stumbling alot so I'm guessing I have more adjustments to do. At least I now know the general seby Wpflum - Prusa i3 and variants
Well I have it together and I can jog the extruder with the lcd controller. Is there any way to do a test print without having filament in or turning on the bed or nozzle? I'd like to just see how the printer moves when trying an actual print before putting in filament. I'm having problems with Cura connecting to it so I tried sending the gcode from cura to a sd card and plugged it in, the lcdby Wpflum - Prusa i3 and variants
Thanks for the hint, I'm pretty sure I have some in the washer box so I'm good to go. I'm gonna be dragging today, I should have never checked the tracking status at 11:00pm I could have had a good nights sleep instead of bouncing around like a 2 year old on a sugar rush. I haven't been this keyed up since I talked the wife into letting me order a good Cabinet Saw for my wood shop 15 years aby Wpflum - Prusa i3 and variants
My kit is officially on its way, per UPS tracking!! I'm supposed to see it Wednesday. I've been wanting to build one for quite a while but have been cash strapped until now. I was going to piece one together until I decided on a Prusa i3 and started costing it out based on Folgers list of included parts and got to 300 without an extruder or hot end yet. Seemed a no brainer what with everythiby Wpflum - Prusa i3 and variants
Are you this big of an arrogant putz on purpose or do you just have a nack of coming across like one? If you are the normal on this board I guess I'm on my own. Goodbye and good luck in your chosen career as keeper of all reprap knowledge and what can and should be done or tried. I deal with enough know it all assholes where I work so I sure don't have the stomach to deal with one in my spareby Wpflum - Reprappers
After looking at the web page you linked to I'm not persuaded that slicing up existing plastic and using it directly without regrinding or chipping will significantly 'damage' the plastic's characteristics. I wouldn't be changing the physical structure of a sliced strip of 'blown' plastic any more than I would a filament of 'extruded' plastic which is what is being produced and sold to Reprapperby Wpflum - Reprappers
I've seen some chatter about recycling 1 gal milk jugs to use as filament but all the info I've seen on this relates to grinding or chipping up the jugs to extrude filament sized strands to use on a reprap or some kind of bulk granular extruder that used the ground/chipped plastic directly. Has anyone tried to strip cut the bottles and use them directly in a modified extruder?? I have some planby Wpflum - Reprappers
Thanks, that is the info I was looking for. I had seen a web page where the person used stainless steel bolts, nuts and large washers for the hot end to dissipate the heat with a fan and I was looking to use that style since I have the hardware and I don't have any heat resistant plastic and now that I've seen a couple plans for the extruder driver on Thingverse I have a better idea of where toby Wpflum - Reprappers
I'm looking at converting my McWire Pipe CNC to a repstrap to start building a real reprap. I'm a bit confused as to what I do for an extruder. My funding is limited, as in whatever change I can find in the couch, so I need to build the entire thing from scratch rather than just ordering either a kit or the completed head. I do have a small lathe and milling machine so I'm pretty sure I can buby Wpflum - Reprappers
Has anyone run the stepper circuit from Tom's instructable using LinuxCNC (EMC)?? I was looking at the hardware supported page but I'm not seeing anything other than a couple of other parallel port based controllers.by Wpflum - Reprappers
I know there is a version of a repstrap based on a Mcwire pipe cnc but since I already have one built can I use it as a repstrap by just adding an extruder? The machine itself works fine but is a little too wimpy for my needs so eventually I'll build another cnc that is a bit more robust but for now I'd like to try my hand at building a reprap. My first and biggest question is can I use the eleby Wpflum - Reprappers
