Hi there, I have been using skeinforge with mixed results and wanted to try slic3r. I export the gcode and load it up in repsnapper. The preview looks fine. When it starts the print it goes to home and does nothing. It won't take any action to move to the print starting point or anything. I cannot figure out what could be wrong so I am hoping that it is an easy fix or something I have over-loby kwdelre - General
Hi there, I am using skeinforge to slice and RepSnapper to print. When the print starts, the printer head moves extremely slow to the starting point. During this travel the plastic oozes out. Once it is ready to start and begins at a faster speed the first outline of the first layer is nonexistent because the plastic hasn't replaced itself in the chamber. My question is: is there any way to speeby kwdelre - General

Thanks, I'll be thinking with slic3r tonight....by kwdelre - General
Sorry, I am using a printer built from Botmills kit. I use skeinforge mainly because Botmill provided settings for it. So do you just put some vasaline directly on the belt? The petro side of it won't hurt the belt? Thanks!by kwdelre - General
What type of lubrication should I use? What all would I lubricate? Sorry, the printer is pretty new and I haven't had to lubricate anything yet. Thanks!by kwdelre - General
Definitely not a model problem. I've been through the gcode layers and all is good. Model is correct in the RepSnapper view also.by kwdelre - General
I ran into a problem with my printing. I am printing a custom model using skeinforge for slicing. In two of the layers it calls for a solid layer. Even though the solid layers are normally laid down in a 45 degree pattern, for whatever reason they are printed left to right parallel to the x axis. Once it finishes these two layers the subsequent layers are shifted a few mm on the y axis. After abby kwdelre - General
I have printed aquarium stuff in the past but once I have my print I use Smooth-On molding and plastic products to make the object out of aquarium (and reef) safe plastic.by kwdelre - General
I did read about the moisture issue with PLA. I had this spool in my garage for about a week before I became aware. The temps were very comfortable and not very humid. I live in Houston so even indoors there is humidity. Does the PLA absorb moisture that quickly? If so, it's very surprising that it would be so popular...by kwdelre - General
I was wondering if anyone has had the same experience or could suggest a remedy. While printing perfectly fine, every 5 min or so the PLA will extrude really fast with a more liquid consistancy and then go back to normal after a few lighter lines. I build the machine from Botmill's kit. I have installed 2 small computer fans on the extruder to try to prevent the heat from rising in the chamber.by kwdelre - General
Thank you for the replies everyone. Now that you say that I think they did tell me it was part of the firmware. Either way I'll try to play with the settings. I rigged an airline from a fish pump to lightly blow on the plastic as it comes out. Not sure if I have noticed much difference. Does anyone have an example of a fan being implemented to stop oozing? Just point a small fan at the unit or mby kwdelre - General
Thank you for the reply. I may have to try that slic3r program. In skeinforge are talking about the oozebane setting?by kwdelre - General
Hello everyone. I am new to the hobby and have recently built a printer from BotMill's kit. I am able to print really high quality prints, but when skeinforge decides to take the long route with no extrusion, I get a delay when it starts back up and therefor no plastic or sloppy plastic. This is compounded greatly when printing in small areas that keep making the extruder go on and off. Also, eby kwdelre - General
