Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I think I will probably get the HSS drill bit and a center punch will hopefully get me started. I did a test with some extra steel but the dremel drill bits kept jumping off the rod. The cutting wheel for the dremel was able to cut the steel but I was not able to cut it straight across, so I might pick up a hacksaw too. Thank you, Cameronby cameronm - Tantillus
Great! Thank you for your help! I look forward to building a Tantillus. Thank you, Cameronby cameronm - Tantillus
Hello, I am about to buy some stepper motors and I wanted to check to see if these would be good for a Tantillus build. I just don't want to be stuck with steppers I cant use. Nema 17 stepper motors Thank you, Cameronby cameronm - Tantillus
Hello, Are there any suggested methods to cut and drill the rods for Tantillus? I would be cutting O1 tool steel if that matters. Would a Dremel and a Dremel style Drill press work? Or is there a place that sells the rods pre-cut and drilled? Thank you, Cameronby cameronm - Tantillus

No, I do not recommend this extruder, unless you want a cheap headache. I ended up going back to a makergear hotend.by cameronm - General
I had this problem too with the makerfarm kit I bought on eBay. I came to the conclusion that the acrylic used to attache the heated bed starts to bow because of the heat. This creates binding on the Y axis, thus is why your prints are off. See if that's what is. If it is, I bought an aluminum-bed-mount-plate from lulzbot. But you will need to buy or make Boltable PLA bushing to get it up andby cameronm - General
I believe my problem was with slic3r 0.8.4. My problem is now fixed with slic3r 0.9.0. Cameronby cameronm - Printing
Yeah I think it is that I have my print head to close to the bed. And the fact that I am not using springs on my bed it needs a little more leveling. I am going to correct the level issue and see how that helps. Thank you, Cameronby cameronm - Printing
Hello, how do you change the space in between each pass of plastic laid down? As in the picture attached. Does this have to do with the amount of plastic extruded? Or is this another issue. I am able to fix it when I change the diameter of the filament, it makes the prints very smooth compared to the picture attached. But it does not seem like it would be a proper way to fix it. I would like it tby cameronm - Printing
