Hello all, I'm working on my first build, a Prusa Mendel v2. I'm close to a first print. I recently received one of those "ultimate" electronics kits off of eBay, and it included, among other things: * RAMPS 1.4 * Three cables labeled "endstop" with 3-pin female connectors on either side * Three MakerBot 1.2 mechanical endstops I didn't closely inspect these items until tonight, and I'vby Karmavore - RAMPS Electronics
So let me tell what I've done while I've been thinking about it. I've wrapped the hex head in about three layers of electrical tape, and all the play is gone. My concern, too, subject to any comments about what I experienced (common?) and what I've done (unreasonable?) As a software guy, I'm going to have to recalibrate my brain for these kind of hardware issues.by Karmavore - Plastic Extruder Working Group
Hello, all. I'm working on my first printer, a Mendel, and I have a question about the extruder. I have a Wade's, and it has come together very well. My self-hobbed bolt works great. I can pull on the filament and spin the large gear. But I'm suspicious of something. The hex-head on my M8 bolt that fits into the large gear is smaller than the hex depression in the gear itself. You're right, of course. Brain freeze, I guess. I had previously gotten the outside of the bearing to spin within the PLA using my as-yet-un-hobbed bolt, and when that stopped working, I ran to the forums. Of course, I don't need or want that to spin. Too much , I guess. Update: Wait, I'm talking about the idler bearing, which means the outside definitely needs to spin, and it doesn't.by Karmavore - Reprappers
Hello All, I'm in the early stages of a Mendel build, and I've got a question. I was assembling a Wade's Geared Extruder according to the visual instructions provided by Gary Hodgson. (Awesome, reminds me of lego instructions.) It shows four M4 washers over each of the 4 long M4 hex bolts, which provides a bit of an offset between the idler and the extruder. However, when I do this, the washeby Karmavore - Reprappers
