Oh!....then I can t imagine the spool getting loose... There are still three players in the mechanism. - The fishing line could be too thight. - The bearing on the top is sometimes blocking. - The smooth rods are not perfectly parallel. This will stop or make it hard for the carriage to move to the top causing the motor to skip and loose steps. This will also explain why the problem happensby zacbot - Delta Machines
QuotePierreB [*] I seem to be having an intermittent problem with the motor/spool at the rear of the printer. I think it might be that the set screw in the spool keeps working itself loose so the motor shaft is spinning freely inside even though I tightened the setscrew a decent amount. I tried running a 7 hour print two nights ago and happened to have a time lapse video of the failure: Maybe itby zacbot - Delta Machines

Thanks for the links. Now I see how it works...I have completely misunderstood FSR. What I thought was...that this sensor produce a kind of electrical or magnetic field when fixed on the print platform and as the hotend touch the plate, the sensor detect the change in the field without any physical contact... something like this So this thing is mechanical and works only with Marlin and it neby zacbot - Delta Machines
Hi, Thanks again for your help. >>Think of it this way take the position of the arm where it mounts to the vertical piece and make a line straight down where this line meets the build plate is the end point of the radius measurement the start of course is the center of the circular build plate. You mean like described on this picture? But as you see, the start is not the center of thby zacbot - Delta Machines
Many thanks for the help. So if I understand, it means the arm length should be at least equal to the the circumference of the circle print area (the bed). But how to explain Richrap 3DR has 170 mm bed circumference and in the firmware the arm is 153 mm? And what is the arm length? Are all the joints included, or is it mean from center to center of the screw ?by zacbot - Delta Machines
I am using Repetier as firmware and host software from the begining. I had also that described problem (stopping at random positions) but I couldn t track it down, because it happens very seldom...I don t think it has to do with overheating the printer, sometimes the printer runs the whole day without any problem. I think it has to do with the electronic....buffer overrun that produce a "freeziby zacbot - Delta Machines
QuoteHaDe How's your 3DR doing? Have you found points and/or solutions for improvements? I still would like to increase frame stiffness, but have no idea how to get real improvements without a major redesign. The main flex appears to be in the top & bottom printed parts. It is printing... I had to change somethings. Now running with belt and alu puley. I think it s better than printed parby zacbot - Delta Machines
Looks good Hade. I have this system on my old Uventorbot printer...It adds weight to the total machine weight... But why did you use that in this setup? Just to test or is there other reasons ?by zacbot - Delta Machines
Ah ok, you are welcome too.by zacbot - Delta Machines
We would but there is a problem with your video....it is private, so no one can see it, please check your publishing settings. >> I'm using Slic3r to complie G-Code and I've tried both Richard's and Andy's version of the firmware. As you write, there is a firmware for Richard, for Andy, for me and for each one. There is no firmware for everyone. You have to tune your machine yourself. Wby zacbot - Delta Machines
Yesterday I have printed the first object with the 3DR. I started with 50 mm/s and used Repetier Host to increase the speed while printing. I wanted to see where the printer would fail...but it didn t...not after an increase to 300 % of the speed....Yes the speed had its impact on the quality but it was amazing to see how fast this machine could go...if the extruder was also so fast...and the besby zacbot - Delta Machines
OK, we have now the knowledge of HaDe which confirms, that stepping at 16 and 32 microsteps does not "show" difference. So the manufacturer could remove the jumpers from the boards and firmware writer can forget the complicated calculations for different stepping modes. PS: Du has NUR XX Beiträge aber ein "geballtes Wissen", das zeigt schon wer "steckt dahinter" und was du willst.by zacbot - Delta Machines
Say: Richrap wanted to introduce 32 stepping. We don t know yet why he did.. We have nothing against 32 stepping. We just want to be informed, that this THING is for that THING. It means, anyone who build the machine, should know, that its basic firmware is 32 steps and not the normal 16 steps.by zacbot - Delta Machines
was meinste damit ? du weist was er hat ?
And what about stepping, are you using 32 like richrap and Hade or do you have have RAMPS board at 16 steps ?by zacbot - Delta Machines
Yes, I am working with repetier firmware and it looks good so far....After discovering the wrong microstepping jumpering on the board and solved it, went directly ahead with repetier firmware. I prefer this firmware because it works better with repetier host software. Now I have solved the firmware issues, the host software configuration and the electronic issues, I still have one mechanical proby zacbot - Delta Machines
Thanks Andy. Now many things are clear.... My board Ramps 1.4 does also not support microstepping control over firmware. If it did, I wouldn t have all this problems with a jumperless "new" board on ebay. Now I will attach the extruder and move further to the next stage. Thanks again.by zacbot - Delta Machines
Hi Andy, In Marlin advanced config file you are using, there is // MS1 MS2 Stepper Driver Microstepping mode table #define MICROSTEP1 LOW,LOW #define MICROSTEP2 HIGH,LOW #define MICROSTEP4 LOW,HIGH #define MICROSTEP8 HIGH,HIGH #define MICROSTEP16 HIGH,HIGH // Microstep setting (Only functional when stepper driver microstep pins are connected to MCU. #define MICROSTEP_MODES {16,16,16,16,16} //by zacbot - Delta Machines
Ah Ok. but they delivered them together, why are the jumper missing ?by zacbot - Delta Machines
Ok, I found the mother of all problems I had until now. I bought a complete Ramps 1.4 board Kit from a new manufacturer. They didn t jumpered the board for 16 stepping. They also didn t deliver the needed jumpers, 15 pieces are needed to activate the highest micro stepping mode, which is 16 on this board. They also didn t inform the customer (me) that the board is not jumpered for microsteping aby zacbot - Delta Machines
Hi Andy, thanks for the info...I was calculating as you posted. So you have 32 microsteping, this is also another combination. I think Rich config is at 16. Now all is clear, I must find out why is mine not microstepping.by zacbot - Delta Machines
I have tried to calclate myself, and explain the difference: Andy s actual firmware setting #define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT {110.69, 110.69,110.69, 1200.261} // default steps per unit for Kossel (GT2, 20 tooth) --> (16 * X Steps per rotation) / (18*3.14) = (16 * X) /56,54 = 110.69 --> X = 110.69*56,54/16 = 391 hmm this is near 400 Steps per rotation which mean Andy has a 0.9 degreeby zacbot - Delta Machines
Here is a quick update of the progress I made the last hours: 1. Repetier Host configuration: Printer Typ: Rostock / Home X=0 / Home Y=0 / Home Z=max / Radius=80 / High: 187.5 2. Motors noise 1 (clicking): I tuned the motors again, 0.4 V was still not ok for my motors, best for my motors is at 0.34 V 3. Hi Andy, thanks a lor for the help. Looks like, we will have to spend some hours with the firmware... I hoped and thought I just need to change the board type from Rumba to Ramps in the config.h...and since the rest of hardware is identical...I will be ready in few clicks.... Right now, I am at the stage, where homing works, the motor stops when it hits the endstop. But then, when trying to move the axis down away from the homingby zacbot - Delta Machines
