Check the resistance of the resistors. If they are too high you could struggle to get high temps. I think 5.6 - 6.8 are recommended for j-heads. I'm sure the same will be true for most others.by lazzymonk - General
It's one of the many options in the config. It's almost impossible to avoid tinkering with the config if you want to setup a machine correctly. And a much better option than messing with wiring if you ask me.by lazzymonk - Reprappers
You might want to get some heat sinks for the stepper driversby lazzymonk - General Mendel Topics
which firmware are you using? I think in marlin you need to invert a 2 of the axis by default. check thatby lazzymonk - Reprappers
the prusa i2 with a single plate bed has the rods on topby lazzymonk - General Mendel Topics
I think other than cost, your main choice should be: Do you want to print things, or have a hobby? if you want a hobby build a reprap, they are never finished and will always be evolving. I think i spend as much time tinkering as i do printing, but i like that. if you want to print things, but a makerbot, set it up and that is more or less that.by lazzymonk - General
im looking at doing an almost identical thing, just not a sheild.by lazzymonk - Firmware - mainstream and related support
I built a prusa i2 for £500 and it can do 0.1mm without a problem at all.by lazzymonk - General

Hi Im thinking of making a control board for my prusa with ramps 1.4. It will have buttons for moving all axis and extruder, stuff like that. The electronics are easy, so is the code, the only problem i am having is where to put my code in the firmware so that it reacts quickly to button presses but doesnt interfer with normal operation. Can any one point me in the right direction?by lazzymonk - Firmware - mainstream and related support
smooth rod works fine for me. and almost every kit i have seen only uses smooth rod.by lazzymonk - General
also check your axis are movin in the correct direction and your endstops are set correctly in the settings.by lazzymonk - Reprappers
I use 30mm fans, they fit perfectly between to bearing holders.by lazzymonk - General Mendel Topics
I would try wiring the heat bed directly to the power supply and see what temp and voltage you get. Might help you rule out either the heat bed or the ramps as the fault.by lazzymonk - Reprappers
Yeah its faberdashery crystal clear. Its quite nice stuff reallyby lazzymonk - Reprappers
Ok it seems im a bit of a muppet. I was thinking the 20mm calibration box was a cube, but it isnt. So my print is the correct size. Im a bit more impressed with my first print now. sorry for wasting anyones timeby lazzymonk - Reprappers
Unfortunatly im certain that is not the problem. The max speed on my z axis is only 1.25mm/s at the moment.by lazzymonk - Reprappers
Hi Guys I have my prusa i2 built and have done my first prints which have come out really well (see attached) if i do say so my self. Problem I have is that they are short, about half the hight they should be, can any one point me in the right direction to resolve this? My z axis is calibrated and moves exactly as far as it is told to. Any help will be appreciated thanks.by lazzymonk - Reprappers
