Printing with a fan only works with PLA, if you do that when printing ABS, your prints will warp and detach from the print bed. But it looks like you are printing with PLAby Ohmarinus - General

I have bought 10.8.2 now, all I need is an external HD to backup everything and I'm going to upgrade. I NEED better software to design my things. Today I have created a manual-focus-ring replacement (including a grip-pattern) for a Nikon lens, fits like a glove, I am getting good at this, but I can't create the most complex things yet and designing my things uses a lot of detours.by Ohmarinus - General
Hey, thanks for your advice, however, I am sporting Mac 10.6.8 and I don't think it works on my version of the OS... I notice that I am just having a lot of trouble with this kind of programming (parametric), maybe it's my artistic background. For architecture I manage (Vectorworks) but in product design.. Nope. Also I noticed most software is aimed at Windows users and not at Mac platforms, so for now it's still back to sketchup. So I can't design the part yet because it's impossible to manage wall thicknessby Ohmarinus - General
I don't recommend putting up the heat as high as possible. A lot of nasty stuff can happen, this is the worst comment! How can you say that. Plastics behave differently under higher temperatures, for example the polymers in ABS behave differently and the fumes may become more toxic than they usually are. Also, the setting process of the plastic may differ, you have a chance of the blockage becomby Ohmarinus - General
Ahhhh yes, I see, I had also found out the Mac userbase isn't that big... I am still stuck on 10.6.8 and can't upgrade because I need a HD replacement through some kind of special 'Imac 27" HD replacement program' which I still have to arrange, but actually I first have to buy a new backup drive because my current backup HD is full... Hi I have tried FreeCAD some time but it seems the Mac version simply 'sucks ass'. I cannot even turn on the grid because there is no button for it. In the normal workbench the button to choose other workbenches is simply nonexistant and I added it through the Toolbar editing menu, but now it crashes sometimes when I change workbenches from the standard workbench you get at the beginning. Hi, thanks for your reply. Do you think I could build the PrismX with the same extrusions that I would use for a MendelMax? Because I have the option of buying a cheap frame kit with just the extrusions and a 100 t-slots for free with it. Sounds like a good deal! And yes, I would love to go into the woods and try to figure out the printer build on my own, though I don't have any idea what distby Ohmarinus - Extruded Aluminum Frames
Black is the most difficult color in the spectrum of ABS and PLA's when it comes to reliability. You can't really see what is in there. With a white for example, producers need to be more careful with contaminations because you will see it in white, but black doesn't really show when there is a contamination in the filament. That said, there are still a lot of good blacks on the market.by Ohmarinus - General
Thank you for your very complete reply! I am really leaning towards this printer now. Even though I am not a core-reprapper, and I have only built one printer before, this might be something for me. Though I have to admit, I have built my own Y-bed that works fine, and I have made a lot of improvements on my own printer that I will probably also try to incorporate on my printer to-be. So, I undby Ohmarinus - Extruded Aluminum Frames
Heb even op hun site gekeken..
"Our merchant challenged us lots of times that why we sell products much cheaper than theirs" What? Who, what!? I don't understand parts of the site, and it looks like some cheap way of getting more members. Maybe they are going to sell their company and they want a bigger memberbase so they can ask more money for their brand when they sell it?by Ohmarinus - General
I am curious to hear more stories about these PLA bushings. I have also seen someone experiment with Nylon (Think it was Taulman 618/645?). I have so far only printed with ABS, but am willing to try and make a switch to PLA some day. Also still planning my 2nd printer built, the idea is to rig that printer to run completely for PLA parts and keep my current printer for ABS.by Ohmarinus - General
Hahaha, lol, it's actually a Dutch website they are referring to. (For people that came here through google: Don't order anything ever on this site, it seems they are using a system of getting your order, after that they order your product at another shop in China and have it shipped to you. Big chance you'll be waiting a month.)by Ohmarinus - General
Ha, ja dat was inderdaad mijn post De printed parts zou ik daar niet kopen, maar de vitamins zijn daar wel ok hoor. Will there also be a BOM and a build guide available soon? I don't want to buy a kit, instead I want to get my own vitamins, since I already have a LOT of parts myself. So I only need to print the printed parts and get the extrusions probably. - Marinusby Ohmarinus - For Sale

By the way, the reason why I mounted the spool on the back of the machine is because I didn't like the height of the printer with a spool mounted on top. I noticed that the more weight is on the top, the more wobbly the machine got. I have already redesigned my spool-holder to be even lower in height. This weekend I will finalize my design and update the files. Besides the spool holder I am desby Ohmarinus - Look what I made!
So, in comparison to the MendelMax, how stable is this machine? I am still looking for a new machine to build and my Reprap Air 2 is pretty wobbly, so I really would want to build a machine that is solid. No wobbling. I have already bought a 18mm thick piece of MDF to function as a baseplate for the new machine to-be.by Ohmarinus - Extruded Aluminum Frames

Well, at my school I've seen them work with the stock software that comes with the Replicator X2.. I started crying out of sadness immediately. Repetier beats the software on every level. I can imagine, for people who don't really have much energy to figure out all the print settings, things like this will be good, but for me, no, I want to be able to modify everything, so open-source is the waby Ohmarinus - General
