I'm trying to setup my mendel kit to print PLA and want to have a fan for the PEEK tube of the extruder to prevent the filament from getting too hot before hitting the nozzle and causing problems. I can get a fan and attach it to the side/bottom of the extruder base, but what is the best way to control the fan speed? I know with RAMPs and other electronis setups there are fan controllers, but Iby cobrageek - General
I've acquired a partially built mendel kit and I'm planning to take it apart and start over (just enough things not up to my standards :-)). In looking at the basic frame I've been trying to find ways to maximize the print area. One of the big problems was the size of the Y base plate that limited the Y-travel to ~140mm. The kit I just acquired seems to assume that you'll supprt the heated PCB just on the corners and then rest the aluminum print plate on top of the PCB. I have a MK2a and the small holes at the 4 corners seem fragile to be the sole support for the print surface, but that's what seems to be shown on this page about the heated PCB's: . I'm the new owner to a partially complete kit and have some new build questions. I believe that a 450W ATX power supply should be sufficient to power a mendel reprap, but I've heard that you should have at least 20A (with heated bed and such). The sticker on the power supply shows 18A for +12V and I assumed I could run the electronics on the 5V supply and save the 12 for the steppers and heatby cobrageek - General
