Great progress pictures! Regarding the side panels, I was thinking to use flat panels and mounting with angled brackets to avoid having to form panels. I was wondering if the side panels actually were a major part of the bases structural integrity or simply more of just face plates. Understanding they add to the rigidity of the base, but without them do you think you would lose stability?by ddseeker - General
Been looking forward to seeing your progress. Have you contemplated selling Aluminum Plate Kits, if not, you should.by ddseeker - General

What Normand said... My son has thousands of Legos and megablocks, and the megablocks tend to just sit in the bins unused due to inferior quality. Only time the megablocks are ever really used is in custom builds where the megablock has a unique piece Lego does not have. So, I can see printing custom Lego pieces that you cannot purchase, that will be mostly structural (hidden) pieces and onesby ddseeker - General

QuoteGuizmo Certainly, deltas are much more fun to watch. This is sorta a big selling point, when pitching it to the powers that be. I remember back in the 90's when visitors from the corporate office came I would use my old pen plotter and laugh how they all would stand in awe watching it draw, "This is such cutting edge technology!!" Though I can't think of one time back then that anyone wasby ddseeker - Delta Machines
Was not the original reprap a direct drive worm geared extruder... I was thinking that the flexible drive shaft would simply be replacing the motor's location on a direct drive extruder, still using the hobbed filament driver gear and the tensioned roller directly above the hot end. Note sure how much torque loss and backlash you would get with using it like a dremel drive shaft. (pardon my igby ddseeker - Mechanics

How about something like this Synchromesh Drive Pulleyby ddseeker - Mechanics
QuoteSublime Yes it is multiturn. I used to install them and I believe they may have been some kind of syncro cable like ddseeker linked to or it was a ball chain. The ball chain would be easy enough to test out in a printed version and may be worth a try. I was just looking at Vic's Ball Chain Gears the other day thinking, "How can I use this?" and "I need to remember this, encase I figure outby ddseeker - Mechanics
QuoteGuizmo @Sublime, Thanks for the tip. I wonder how that system works. It appears it is a multiturn system, so it can work with the window crank. If that's true, then that's a much better mechanism, making possible UNLIMITED power transmision, not only a restricted amount. That makes me think, we could design an extruder almost as light as a Bowden extruder, with a remote motor but with noby ddseeker - Mechanics
Cool, glad to hear this... are you also carrying the replacement parts? There was a thread just the other day on the Delta forums asking if anyone knew of a US supplier... I will post the link over there.by ddseeker - For Sale

Yes, be careful, watched a video a month back where a guy was cutting glass for his printer and he did not realize how easy the glass separates after scoring it, he ended up dropping the glass when it snapped in two and it shattered and he was bleeding in the end... his cuts were not bad but it could have been worse.by ddseeker - Reprappers
