I am not using an all metal Hot End, is that a no brainer upgrade? I've really never had an issue up until this moment, but this problems a doozy. In terms of clogging, I wasn't sure if the hotend was just getting stuffed so Unclogged it just in case. It was not actually an issue and did nothing to resolve the issue. I can push the filament through by hand AND, in fact, I can do this right afterby kfootball15 - Reprappers
I never actually understood what 'Skirt' meant? I saw it in the slicer program but didnt know what it did.by kfootball15 - Reprappers
Hello guys, So I've actually had my Prusa Mendel up and running very smoothly for a while now but I've run into a snag that I cannot for the LIFE of me figure out. The problem is with extruding. It will extrude the first layer or so PERFECTLY. No problems what so ever, and whenever I extrude manually or while not printing, I never run into any problems. That being said, after a layer or so theby kfootball15 - Reprappers
QuoteNewPerfection With good hot ends and proper settings, oozing isn't a huge deal on multi-extruder parts. See this two-color octopus I printed a while back: . Support for more than two extruders is highly experimental at this point, although it is being worked on. See the 4 nozzle Kraken hot end for example. Wow thats incredible! I would love to know more about your duel extruder set up!by kfootball15 - Reprappers
Hmmm so the multiple extruder approach in general is not used for multicolor objects OR printing the same object twice at the same time? The ooze issues seem to be mitigated, if not solved entirely, by many of the newer hotends that are either all metal or take advantage of combining many of the extruder parts. Ignoring oozing issues then, is printing in at least two colors still not practical/by kfootball15 - Reprappers
Hello! So the current Ramps electronics I have on my RepRap allow for 2 extruders (which I am assuming would allow me to print in two different colors, correct? Or is it that two extruders allows you two print two of the same object at once?) Anyway, Now that they have several different models of "Duel Extruders" that are essentially two extruders that take up the same space as one, what are thby kfootball15 - Reprappers

I actually am a student at the University of Connecticut, so I am in Willington CT (just outside Storrs). The most expensive things I need are: Drill and drill bits Digital Caliber Crimp Tool Kapton Tape Soldering Iron The rest I can manage on my own, but those things add up fast and make up well over $150 and I could use a cheaper method of obtaining them. Thanks for your response!by kfootball15 - General
Does the community have a good source for tools? I need nearly everything that is required for the build, which adds up to around $265. Any advice?by kfootball15 - General
Thanks, I actually JUST edited my comment haha. I figured out that the kit does in fact have the heatbet. Does the NWreprap kit look like a good purchase to you?by kfootball15 - General
I just found out that the kit for NW does in fact include the heatbed. I am going to make the purchase tomorrow morning. Is there anyway someone with more knowledge and experience then myself could quickly go to the NWreprap homepage and let me know if the kit thats shown right on the homepage looks good and adequate? My research says that it is one of the better options, but I'd like other oby kfootball15 - General
Hello guys! I am new to the community but I am very excited to get started on building my first 3D Printer. First I need to buy one though! I am not very familiar with Electronics but I am generally pretty good at assembling things so long as there are adequate instructions. I was wondering if you guys could help me choose a Vendor to purchase a Prusa Mendel DIY kit from. I have narrowed downby kfootball15 - General
