Hi All Interesting developments. I notice on the data for the device that it is possible to modulate the IR and thus eliminate background effects. I have not looked into this at all but assume that this would be a superior aproach. DC42 seems to have done a superb job Ian, the reduced collector resistor compensates for the incresed IR output thus restoring the original sensitivity, the accuracby Rory166 - Ormerod
QuoteRadian Quoteormerod168 Had the same proplem, washer interfering bearing, sagging print head, fixed with a 623zz My print head also has a terrible sag - so much so that the fan duct clips the edges of the printed part! Sounds like I could do with fitiing a 623zz bearing as well. I am sure you have adjusted the bearing to it's maximum and checked the slot is fully cleaned out.by Rory166 - Ormerod
Hi I have received a modified part from RRP but have not fitted it as my build seems to have no play. I imagine they have tested it and the print should work. Roryby Rory166 - Ormerod
Hi All I am not too clear on this talk of dished washers. The washers I was supplied with are bog standard and indistinguishable from some I purchased from screwfix. having been tightened against plastic might well cause some dishing. What is indisputable is that the inside diameter of the outer race of the 9mm bearing is slightly smaller than the o.d. of the washers. Thus the washer can jamby Rory166 - Ormerod
Markus and any others viewing I know I am going off topic here. Cruising around I could not decide on a better are to post in. I am very new to all this so please excuse any errors. I do not like the look of all the filaments draped between the various protrusions on your print. Is this inevitable? I have seen similar with other printers. Is there a setting which would control this? As aby Rory166 - Ormerod
I want an adjustable z-axis idler bearing printed ideally in the original RS colour and material. Price including p&p anyone? Don't need it now as rep rap are sending me a geen one. Does anyone know where to get the motors?by Rory166 - Wanted
Tru I know see that I was not clear in my original post. Rep Rap pro have produced an adjustable bearing which is shipping with the green printers. What I am saying is that I want one for my RS Red machine. It seems I will have to procure this myself. Hence the question about type and colour of material. Roryby Rory166 - Ormerod
Just read the next section and seen the work arounds for play in the x-axis mounting. I am not too happy with the idea of tape to remove play. I would realy like a modified adjustable bearing. It would also be nice to know the exact colour and material of the original RS printed parts in case I can get a part printed somehow.by Rory166 - Ormerod
Ian Im impressed that you seem to be working at his time. Bit confused what time zone is shown on the forum. Now realize I should have set a custom timezone to GMT. Not quite sure why this is not the default setting? It may not be that obvious when the bearing is not free because the metal glides along the acylic quite smoothly. Longterm it would wear of course. I imagine a bit of paper helby Rory166 - Ormerod
Hi All Just completed a further building session and appear to have found an issue. On the x axis carriage there is a 9mm bearing used instead of the usual 10mm. An m3 washer is used between bearing and printed part to enable the bearing to turn freely as per many of the 10mm bearings. Unfortunately in this case the m3 washer fouls the outer bearing shell when the socket head screw is tightenby Rory166 - Ormerod
Thanks Ian. I apreciate how busy you must be at present. Keep up the good work and try to have a merry christmas. Roryby Rory166 - Ormerod
Markbee Tis vendor will cut the lenghts for you. There are plenty more just type in 20x40mm aluminium extrusion. It will be necessary to tap the ends but this is easy. Is cheaper but only in 1m lengths.by Rory166 - Ormerod
As I have struggled in the past to work from a computer screen I printed a set of assembly instructions on or about 15th Dec 2013. These have proved inadequate since it is necessary to blow up the pictures to see what needs to be done. The printed list was however valuable for my assistant to select the parts for the next step of the assembly. Iamgine our surprise therfore when I was measuringby Rory166 - Ormerod
I have been looking at my kit wondering about replication. The Extrusuion is readily available on ebay. Thr 12mm silver steel ground rods are available but mostly in 333mm length just 17mm too short. I assume the motors are reasonably common. Does anyone have the exact specification? Nema 17 seems to be a frame size. The electronics board cost about 120 pounds which some think is high. I ordered 0n 12th and the backorder was for dispatch on 16th. Did not ship until 18th. I assume the 500 are now sold as mine was 350+. Surly RS can change the part number on you initial order as this is their error, If you really hate the green print youself a set of orange. Roryby Rory166 - Ormerod
