I was setting up marlin firmware because I am switching to dual extruder and old sprinter firmware doesn't support. I got a "pre-configured version from reprap wiki" I opened it, and start doing configuration. When I saw : " // PID settings: // Comment the following line to disable PID and enable bang-bang. " in configuration.h, I commented the line: "//#define PIDTEMP" Because it sounds optiby jpan - General
I do not know how to manage my three fans. I am using dual extruders so D9 is occupied. Is there any ways? I was to connect them directly to the PSU, but it doesn't sound too safe.by jpan - General
Well, so I guess the adjusting of current may not be a reason The first one is my case I think. I'll just try some other pulleys... The other pulleys that I have are no good, too.by jpan - Printing
Thanks for reply! I do have some spare pulleys. I tried them on and once. They work pretty much as well as each other. (Maybe the shape of the pulleys also plays? Doesn't make sense to myself though.) I am wondering if that little screw adjusting current on stepper drivers (A4988 in my case ) will make any difference if they're turned by only 5 degrees of so. I mean, how accurate are those screby jpan - Printing
I know it's been a long time. I got all electronics replaced, costing me about one hundred bucks. The problem just remains. I adjusted the little screw on the stepper driver and it does make some little differences. But still I cannot get a perfect straight wall whatever numbers of times I tried for. I also found an interesting phenomenon. The pulley on y-axis motor shaft does not spin around iby jpan - Printing
My z-axis travel speed is too fast in my opinion, but x and y axis travel speed too slow. But if I just change the "travel speed" variable in the slicer, all three speeds will be affected. Is that normal?by jpan - General
Thank you, that make sence. BTW, are you the one on eBay selling j-head lite? I'm planning to get one of your products. But i have some questions.......(It's weird to ask you here) Do I really need soldering or drilling to assemble a KIT from your store? I saw solder iron in tools needed in "instruction" on that thingiverse page. Also, why don't you sell 3.mm onesby jpan - General
Haha.... I got another ATX from an old computer(from my friend) and it works Sorry I was really mad. And through checking each stepper driver I found that two of them are broken somehow. So I ordered two more stepper drivers. Think after they being installed I could start printing again. Thank you guys!by jpan - General
Just want to make sure with you guys. I'm getting a new ATX PSU, should I just randomly pick two Yellow(12v) wires and two black(ground) wires from the PSU and connect them to the ramps board in the order of Y-B-Y-B, correct? Thanksby jpan - General
Ok, so is it even possible that shorting out on a stepper driver causes damage in my PSU? If so, I would order a new one and give it a try.by jpan - General
Here are some pictures of d1 on my ramps1.4s in the front and back. RAMPS NO.1 Don't seem like shorting out to me... And the other brand new ramps 1.4 that I have, which doesn't work either, is even "cleaner"(it's kinda messy on that one shown above) on the back side. RAMPS NO.2 Thanks!by jpan - General
Thanks for your reply! I have been refreshing all the time before supper. It was connected.(sorry if i wasn't clear). I was even getting the temperature every second. Seems like only "12v parts" are getting trouble... like 12v motor and 12v heater and 12v fan(all don't work)..... But if I connect the 12v fan directly to the PSU then it works.by jpan - General
Oh my god I'm really mad at this machine!by jpan - General
Now everything's new, but I still cannot move my motor... I am able to connect it to the computer, but it stays "5 commands waiting" forever if the main PSU is connected to Ramps before it's connected to the computer. If connect Arduino first, with the main PSU unplugged, the "5 commands waiting" will disappear. I am using sprinter firmware and ramps 1.4+Arduino edit: I just tried marlin firmwarby jpan - RAMPS Electronics

Well this is the new Mega that I was talking about in the last post...I don't think that's broken because I'm still able to connect it to the computer. None of the motors work. I guess I'll just wait, but the storm tomorrow may hold my new Ramps for several other days ..by jpan - General
ok,so here's an update: Today my Arduino has arrived. Ramps 1.4 is still on the way. I just flashed the firmware into Arduino. Now I am able to connect. I thrown the stepper driver on which the shorts happened, and I got a new one. I plugged the new one and the other three old ones that I think are fine on the old ramps 1.4(I wanted to test if the old ramps is not working), and I connected the Pby jpan - General
I now have a Mendel i2 (fixing in progress, but will be functional). I noticed a good-looking variation of Mendel called Ronthomp Mendel. (Don't want this thread to seem like an ad so plz google), and had a impulse to modify my machine to that one. Seems like I don't need to buy any other mayor parts. But IMHO, that construction doesn't appear to be sturdy to me. I think I should only expect evenby jpan - General
Thanks for advices! I never use the heat bed because my PSU is not powerful enough. That sheet of glass is actually broken in an accident, so I taped it from both side. Is it fine if I just remove it and print on masking tape on heat bed? If so I would remove that sheet of glass.by jpan - Printing

Already ordered arduino+ramps1.4+5 stepper drivers anyways. Thanks for your help! Hope I get more luck on this project......by jpan - General
The bearings are fine. Now my electronics are fried, but still I took some pictures. I also installed something like this (before my Arduino and Aamps being fried =_=III) and didn't have too much good effect. I even sanded it to make it little effective to the linear rod. Here's how my machine looks like: I use 3mm filament. I now suspect the problem might be because misalignment of y-axisby jpan - Printing

It doesn't connect even without Ramps. So I'm getting a replacement now. Thank you!by jpan - RAMPS Electronics
oh yeah haha.... I'll get a replacement. Should I get just an arduino or Ido I need ramps and stepper drivers as well? Thanksby jpan - General
t's a long story. I was trying to solve my printing problem described in this post. The printer was connected to the computer then and the power is on. I was adjusting the current of my y-axis motor, and I accidentally touched something with the screwdriver. Then the driver of the motor sparkled in an instant. I didn't realized that it's a problem until I checked my computer after all those thingby jpan - RAMPS Electronics
