Sounds complicated as for me, a noob...by jpan - OpenSCAD
I tried Printrun and Repitier-host. The seller said it might be a firmware problem. The softwares did not have any error hint. But whatever I told the machine to do, it doin't respond.by jpan - General
Hi guys My ATX PSU might be broken, I do have some spare laptop PSUs, and I heard that a laptop PSU is actually able to run a RAMPs board. My question is: how can I do that? Thanksby jpan - General
Hi guys I'm trying to get my new Prusa Mendel 2 working these days. Now here's the case: I connected all those wires on the boards and PSU, but when I wanted to try a little bit, (the lights on Ardino board and RAMPs board were on, not now after I re-taped PSU's cables on RAMPs board) so I connected it successfully with Repetier-host software. And then there's a problem, the motors or the hotby jpan - General
You are a pro! I love your machine! Absolutely a professional one. But I don't get how did you handle you belts. Did you use two pulleys on the motor shaft? My guess is like this: (Took me 5 mins to graph....phew....)by jpan - General
Why not just print a plastic container that can holds water and put it right above the RAMPs board? Just remember to unplug the PSU first when you see it's burnt?by jpan - Safety & Best Practices
Did I guess the right way? Using friction to motivate does seems too reliable to me....by jpan - General

The electronics are similar I guess. The difference is firmware I assume.by jpan - General
Tell us the result, buddy. Can't see difference for me...by jpan - Look what I made!
Hi guys, I saw a design like this. As a noob I'm not really sure how it works. Note that there's only ONE z motor. I guess the guy pressed the belt pulley really tight with the nuts (and maybe even with threadlocker?) to try to keep it fixed.(maybe not) Can anyone tell me if it's worthy to do so? Is it reliable at all? Thanksby jpan - General

Hum that's a pity. I'm curious. Are you guys who have your own design all professional? I mean, do you all have engineering background?by jpan - General
HI Sublime, So you are the creator of Tantillus? Why did you close your store?by jpan - General
I see.. In my case( Phoenix ) the carriage does drop but is not a big deal, right? I searched and found that Tantillus uses a leadscrew for z-axis. Maybe you got an older version? Anyways I guess I'll have to accept the resolution.. Maybe it's not that bad as I thought aha?by jpan - General
I have to say that it IS common to use belts for x-and y-axis, but it's my first time seeing a belt for z-axis. I check and find that the printers you said are using belts for z axis. But resolution is a big problem isn't it? Also when the motor is off, the extruder drops. similar topicI just found a topic in this forum that says the same thingby jpan - General
Well I thought there were two motor for z-axis. I think, a belt is not accurate enough to move z-axis.by jpan - General
Hi guys, I just saw a 3DP with design using 2 stepper motors and belts to motivate the extruder, which means acting as z-axis.(the machine is called Phoenix) It sounds strange to me though. Feels like it's VERY likely to slip. What do you think?by jpan - General
Hello, bobc Thanks for your easy guide, but a RAMPS 1.4 board does have four "spots / terminals" for power, two pairs of "+ and -".... I know some kind of electronics only have two "spots" (+ and -)for power source. What if I want to use a RAMPS board?by jpan - General
So, what I should do, according to the link, is to cut all the wire and bundle wires of the same color together, and then connect +12v wires, -12v wires, +5v wires -5v wires to the board, right?by jpan - General
Hello, guys Here's a new problem: How can I get a PSU with wires like these to work on a RAMPS board? Thanksby jpan - General
