I use the Prometheus as well. Performs very well. Nozzles are a bit pricey at $25.00 but entire hotend is only $75.00.by elwood127 - General
One Z motor will always be better than two. If Z motors are even slightly inexact you can have major bed leveling issues. I converted my I3 to one and it was the best improvement I've made. Don't expect either of those printers to be great without some tinkering. They will however help you learn a lot. Enough to make you consider building a better one down the road.by elwood127 - General

I think you are right. Letting the build plate move for the Z would have been better.by elwood127 - Reprappers
A few things. If using PLA temp is to high. I run at 180 and 70. You should check your "Retract" settings in Slic3r. I run 2mm @ 40mm/sec. And possible overextrusion. Might need to drop your "Extrusion Multiplier" in Slic3r. Mine is down from 1 to .98.by elwood127 - Printing

There is a fine line between tight and to tight. Over tightening can cause the motor armatuer to rub on the housing not to mention the adverse effects on the bearings. I can deflect my belts about a 1/4".by elwood127 - Reprappers
It can be as simple as having your axle uneven in height so that the spool slides to one side and rubs on the arm.by elwood127 - Printing
Quotechevellebro1 I wanted to thank everyone for their help with this problem. I figured it out last night! So after replacing nearly electronic, changing motors, wiring, firmware...it turned out to the the TB6560 that was the issue. I should have listened to all the other forums that complain about them. Even though I tried 3 different boards, they were all from the same manufacturer and so theby elwood127 - Printing

If you have If you use Repetier, open it, On the right side you'll see "object placement, slicer, preview and manual control. Click on Slicer tab and then "Configuration". After a few seconds a window will open. These are your print settings. Click on the Settings tab. Under the "Speed" subdirectory check the speeds listed. It should look something like this. If you are using PLA then temps should be about 180/ 70. If ABS then should be about 240/ 110. Definately add some retract. Mine is 2mm @ 40mm/sec.by elwood127 - Prusa i3 and variants

Not familiar with Marlin but, Home is all axis at endstops. If there is no glass on printbed than you need to chamfer adjuster holes and use "Machine Head" screws so that they are flush with bed. Printable area is the max area that the nozzle can cover. Usually less than your bed size because of lack of heat near the edges. My 8x8 area is only good for 7x7 prints. Thats all I got.by elwood127 - General

Hey all, using support in Slic3r 1.2.9 is creating support on the outside of a flat surface where no support is needed. Also, setting the "Enforce Support For" X layers (60 in this case) still produces support all the way to the top. Assuming that Enforce Support means "only build supports for 60 layers". Anyone know how to correct these issues? Thanks.by elwood127 - Reprappers
