yes~ ! using a fourth stepper is the way to go anyway!by DanielG - Reprappers
Tech-zone and Kim = Total failure in my book... I order crap loads to of from all over the web including Ipod / Nintendo parts from China and even China blows them away for communication / support. By FAR they were my worse transaction for as far as I can remember.. I don't normally bash companies... but Tech-Zone and Kim take the prize!!!! Danby DanielG - Reprappers
Go with a 4th stepper and don't look back.... I wasted endless hours trying to make the extruder board work properly... As soon as I hooked up the 4th stepper all was good with the world! (I think it solved world hunger as well). Danby DanielG - Reprappers
I would consider a makerbot set as well... does anyone know if the gen 6 can use a thermocouple? Also is the heater mosfet strong enough for a block heater design when you are ready to kill yourself over using the nikky wire? Gen 6 looks cool though...,,, also consider if it gets damaged... all goes,,,,,instead of one board...by DanielG - Reprappers
Its finally printing parts for a new machine!!!!! the new copper encased extruder is working great!by DanielG - General
I was rootin for ya!!! now the fun begins!by DanielG - Reprappers
Man just finished my new block heater plus thermocouple design, and had one hell of a time with the new "official" firmware.. was doing REALLY weird thing things.. seemed like digital interference when I plugged in the thermocouple... almost like it froze the comm bus.... heater, fan lights flashing and no temp reading.... weird... changed to old "hacked" extruder firmware and all things are gooby DanielG - General
Try this... thermocouple pin is pin 6 and the bed thermo is 7 if you have one... I am unable to test as I have the AD595 ver... I am no expert.......but it should work (mine does) If it does not lmk the problem and I'll play with it.... I used to code years back but now just direct a group of MUCH smarter people....hehehby DanielG - Firmware - mainstream and related support
I will try to get something to you tonight... what pin will you use for the thermocouple?by DanielG - Firmware - mainstream and related support
How short can I trim the lead that goes to the circuit? Is there a minimum length? Thanks! Danby DanielG - General
Are you in the us? If so shoot me a pm with your # and ill try to walk you through it.by DanielG - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Thanks for the thoughts guys... I think I will go ahead a disable the PID control... dont see the point now.. I also made my block with just a drill press and an m6 tap... It was a HELL of alot easier than the wire and tape (for me) This is fun stuff! and getting easier everyday.......by DanielG - General
I just installed a block heater I made and am having trouble heating it to the set temp.... If I use a firmware I found that has PID disabled it shoots right up and works and is fairly stable... I would rather use released firmware though and would like some help adjusting the PID for the heater...Any thoughts? Am I way off base here? Basically I am around 30c off.. if I set it @ 190 it hovers aby DanielG - General
Thanks for the thoughts guys... I am working on a new one now...Will post a pic when its close... BTW the new one will be ABS (both the extruder and x-carriage.) I know this is silly but has anyone tried to use a thermoelectric cooler in any way? Danby DanielG - General
I have been having problems with my extruder... <<<<NO WAY and had an idea(nophead) to make it a bit better and wanted to get opinions... I have not finished it yet as I am waiting on a few parts but you will get the idea... two things.. the copper bracket will be sandwiched between two strips on aluminum to help with heat and of course I'll solder the tubes together... only thing I aby DanielG - General
pm me with info and ill prepay!by DanielG - Plastic RepRap Parts for Sale
Hey do you still have a set of just plastic? LMK I need one badly........by DanielG - Plastic RepRap Parts for Sale
For starters you do NOT need the power supply to program.. Try flipping it around (the connector) and see if you get power to the mb if not you may have a bad one... also try the extruder... you don't have 2 bad parts right? that will give you a control..by DanielG - Controllers
I am tweeked! printing my first part right now!.. its a bit of a train wreck but its printing! my steppers are off by 2 mil or so but its printing! Now i just need tuning!<<<< errr and a new stepper.... extruder stepper failed as i was typing... no matter..< I think its been my problem the whole time... funn stuff...by DanielG - General Mendel Topics
its weird but it appears to work! PEEK=fail PTFE=pass Thanks~~! now on to tweeking the software~! I will update with detail when I know 100% (for people like me who beat their heads on the wall!)by DanielG - General Mendel Topics
Pliers worked broke it free just fine.....I'll build the new one tonight!by DanielG - General Mendel Topics
Anyone have a working table for the Ultimachine thermister they could share? Thanks!by DanielG - General
Great info! I currently have the PEEK insulator installed... I will switch to the PTFE and report back... (I also just ordered the hybrid version as well) VERY frustrating stuff.... I almost had it working,,,,,,,,,,sooo what dissolves epoxyby DanielG - General Mendel Topics
Fair enough. Any thoughts to a solution? Many people use the standard design in the beginning to get started right? How this overcome? Maybe I have a different problem? Thoughts? Thanks!by DanielG - General Mendel Topics
Ok, I think I have narrowed down my last few problems..... I am down to what I think is the last one... When I wrap the nichrome wire should I do double layers to stay close to the tip? My first try I did not and it seemed to get to hot near the top which created a sort of plug near the top when extrusion was slowed or stopped preventing a restart. I would then need to remove the pinch bearing anby DanielG - General Mendel Topics
Ok I am a pinhead.... what is your extrude speed at? bet that's the problem.....mine was wayyyyy to high.by DanielG - Controllers
Same exact problem here,,,, bummer... ready to go but zero extruder torque... I am using gen3 makerbot electronics converted and the 07/02 build... everything is perfect besides the torque issue.... ANY help at all will be welcomed! Danby DanielG - Controllers
Where are u located?by DanielG - Texas, Houston RepRap User Group
So this is my first official post (I think). Many thanks to all that provide the great info that make this project so fun! The question I have is should my extruder stepper get hot doing nothing and just powered? I am using gen 3 electronics fully converted and the latest build firmware. how hot should this thing get on idle? No software is running.... this is just on powerup. Thanks, Danby DanielG - General Mendel Topics
Ordered once and will never again... Not interested in lies or stories about when they will ship.... Honesty would have been much better.... very poor communication and customer service.... TechZone= FAILby DanielG - General
