Nice plug, Mutley!by Lykle - General
Biggest issue I can see with this way of levelling is that the tip of the nozzle might not be completely clean, or have some solidified plastic on it. This can cause two errors. 1) you will not make electric contact 2) you will have different heights measured depending on how much plastic is stuck to the nozzle. Hope you have a solution for that. I read somewhere that Chloroform dissolves PLA, same as Acetone does fro ABS. Just remember, it is only to be used on PLA!by Lykle - General
If you are considering selling an enclosed printer, you should be aware that there is a patent for a heated chamber for a 3d printer. Stratasys patent (US6547995 B1) So be very careful and make sure you understand exactly what is and isn't protected. Lykleby Lykle - General
IronCAD. Easiest and quickest way to design for me. It works the way I think and that is important in a CAD program. OK, it is pricy, so I am still working on an old version that I bought long time ago, only supported in XP. But hey, it still works.by Lykle - 3D Design tools
Quick render of how it could be done. First image is an overview. Second image is a detail show of the ooze plug.by Lykle - Let's design something! (I've got an idea ...)
And to stop blobs dripping out, you can cap the hotend as it moves away from the printing position. But I agree, I think the best thing for this idea is for it to be bowden driven and 1 strand of filement per hot end. Different nozzle diameters? A lot of work for a switch in accuracy. Is it really worth all the work?by Lykle - Let's design something! (I've got an idea ...)
Hmm, this would be interesting to design. A hell of a lot of gears tho.by Lykle - Let's design something! (I've got an idea ...)
I think the Flex3drive is a great way to remove weight from the printhead. Great idea.by Lykle - General
