Thanks for the ideas guys. How easy would it be to press out the bearings? Do you think that the wheel would be molded around the bearing, or just pressed in after the fact? I don't have access to a working printer yet, so can't print any replacements sadly. By the way, if you're using the Traxxas ends then you'll still have to do a bit of dremel work to get the rod ends to clear the carriaby nebbian - Delta Machines
I made a jig for the diagonal arms today, and as expected there is quite a lot of slop with a 3mm bolt inside the ball end. It was pretty easy to adjust the rods to all be the same size (estimate that all are within 0.05-0.10 mm of each other). I'd also expect that this method is more precise than gluing, because you can adjust the rods after the fact. If a rod is slightly off, you can still tby nebbian - Delta Machines
Has anyone else had problems with their carriage roller wheel bearings? Some of mine are OK, but some have a lot of play in them. One can wobble more than a mm at the outer edge, when the centre is locked solid. *sigh* Back to Bunnings today I guess.by nebbian - Delta Machines
@o_lampe, Good call on the cooking water for 10 miuntes, I'll give that a go. Regarding the 0.35 mm, drilling and gluing, that's certainly an option. My issue is that I'm not confident that at the end of it I'll have joints that are any closer than just by using the threaded rods and cutting threads into the rod ends. To visualise this I got out my calipers and measured 0.35mm. In the oldby nebbian - Delta Machines
btw if anyone's ordering Traxxas rod ends, be sure to order two packets. I had to put together 15 before I had 12 good ones (without slop). Strangely enough all the bad ones were marked "C". I think this mark shows which part on the injection molding tree it is. All the good ones were marked other letters and numbers. If anyone has only ordered one packet of rod ends then you might be luckyby nebbian - Delta Machines
Cripes. Shouldn't the effector at least be printed in ABS? Now I'm worried about the hotend falling out!by nebbian - Delta Machines
Ha ha I asked for the STL models and they sent them to me as well. I don't think they know why there was a sudden rush for those files. I also doubt they're prepared for an onslaught of determined printer builders Also weighed the Traxxas ball ends... 18 grams for 12. So by using Traxxas joints you'll save over 50 grams at the effector (not to mention that things will just fit without lots oby nebbian - Delta Machines
If anyone in Australia wants some ball ends NOW (ie in your hands within 24 hours) then this place is pretty good: Yes they are expensive, and $10 for shipping is daylight robbery, but you do get the parts the next day. I've also ordered a set of these: which may or may not work. We'll see.by nebbian - Delta Machines
Wow, it's great that there are a few of us all at the same stage, able to help each other out I did some test fitting and cleaning up of parts last night, and as expected I had to bash the extrusions through the corner pieces with a mallet. No biggy, they are a very snug interference fit which is fine by me. The detailed instructions I posted a while ago prepared me for that step. Anything tby nebbian - Delta Machines
I wonder if Blomker Industries realise that Sintron have totally ripped off their instructions? Pretty funny when Sintron's instructions show the belt tensioners installed, but their eBay listing shows no such tensioners. Also pretty funny that they say that their rod ends aren't touching, when clearly they are. I guess it's a case of caveat emptor, we're getting enough parts to build a printeby nebbian - Delta Machines
I opened my kit today, and had a look. The printed parts seem OK, although there is a bit of stringing and looks like they will need to be cleaned up a bit. Also thanks to Miamicraft for the investigation work, I've ordered some Traxxas 5347 ball ends. These should screw onto the metal pushrods after tapping with a 4mm tap. Hopefully these will alleviate the packaging issues that the larger mby nebbian - Delta Machines
Good idea on shaving a bit off the ends of the effector where the ball joints attach, I had considered that as well. You'll have to shave a bit off the carriages as well, so that the rods stay parallel. The best build log I've found is this one: http://www.think3dprint3d.com/Kossel-Mini-3dPrinter-Kit#tab-product-tab3 Very detailed. Are either of you considering twisting the belt so that the iby nebbian - Delta Machines
Oddball, what was the problem with the corner pieces? Is it something that can be fixed with a little ingenuity?by nebbian - Delta Machines
QuoteMiamicraft Nebbian, The belts are tightened by sliding the top of the machine (triangle) up the extrusions. If all the belts are the same length no problem. Thanks Roger, I understand that already, and was puzzled as to why the ebay listing doesn't show the tightening bolts installed. I was hoping you could tell me how the ends of the belts are attached to the carriages. Do they just slidby nebbian - Delta Machines
Please continue posting your findings Miamicraft! I've just received my Sintron kit and am going to start putting it together next week. I'm keen to hear about the problems you might have. Did you notice that on the ebay listing, they haven't installed the belt tensioners at all? Perhaps that's to get a bit more build height. How does the belt attach to the carriages? I assume you just cuby nebbian - Delta Machines
