Hi Rich K, I'm using an E3D V6 on my Mendel90. It works very well. There was no issue with the J-head. I simply wanted to try out some higher temperature materials. I've found that when I run PLA through it (the E3D) I have to raise my usual PLA temperatures by about 15 Deg C or so. I've also found that PLA doesn't change out as cleanly from the E3D as it used to from the J-Head, so I have to purby NumberSix - Mendel90
Interesting! Do your motors feel hot to touch? They look warm in the video. Also, if you still have the camera I'd be interested in any observation you can make of the underside of the x-carriage to see if temperatures rise much there, from any rising heat that might get trapped there. Just curious. tks for sharing. I.by NumberSix - Mendel90
Neil, that's so funny a response, but, honestly, I couldn't have put it better! (still laughing!) No offence Dawa, but facebook isn't my scene either.by NumberSix - Mendel90
Is your Mendel90 still for sale?by NumberSix - Ireland RepRap User Group
Hi Neil, In response to your question, I would be interested in a Mendel90 G+ Community, and would join it. It is a different animal to what we have here though. This is a solid Q&A/Discussion forum, where as G+ posts tend to have shorter shelf-lives as people move on to view or comment on the next post quite quickly. G+ is more media rich/friendly and more suitable to quick show-n-tell postsby NumberSix - Mendel90
Some more ideas... With Halloween around the corner I was thinking some Orange/Black/White items of a Halloween'ish nature would be good also... with the "RepRap.org" branding incorporated of course! I've done a little magic wand design and ran some in Halloween colours... STL attached for sharing. "RepRap.org is Magic!"by NumberSix - Reprappers
That's a great printer and you've done all the building already for anyone looking for something that's ready to print! Good luck with the sale.by NumberSix - Ireland RepRap User Group
Hi Tony, The 1£ Token was slightly higher than the actual £. I have found the raised text prints cleaner than sunken text, so here's a version of the token which is 3mm high inc raised text (full thickness of 1£ coin). You can try this one also if you get a chance. Do you use Sketchup? I can share the Sketchup file it's of value also. Have you any fridge magnet designs in mind or are you throwinby NumberSix - Reprappers
I've taken the original KeyTab idea from above and resized it to match a 1£ Coin (UK based show - TCTShow.com), so it could double as a key ring tab or a trolley token, still incorporating "RepRap.org" as the common theme of these show giveaways. It prints well at .2h/.3w, and uses less that 200mm of 3mm filament at 50% fill. Not living in the UK I haven't tested this as a 1£ Trolly Token so if aby NumberSix - Reprappers
Hi Mike, Do post a photo and a little detail on your choice of slicing settings, so we can see what the gizmo looks like. (I notice people have difficulty posting pictures on the forum sometimes... Here's a quick instruction for all on how to post pictures... In a separate window, upload picts via Control Center (Top Right of screen)... QuoteMiertam I just printed a couple of these out and they work great If you added a hole to the top corner and the RepRap logo it becomes a keyfob that is useful. It took about 5 minutes to print both of them. Here you go Miertam, Added a little handle and RepRap.org text. There's a little hole in the handle for a keyring. STL also attached.by NumberSix - Reprappers
QuoteT3P3 NumberSix, All This is a great start - I printed it in <10min on a Mini Kossel, then tried it scaled down 50% - about the size op a poker chip and its really quick <5min. The only issue is with it scaled down the text is no longer discernable so it would be good if you could make the text thicker so the slicer leaves a big enough gap. Other ides for useful objects would be good.by NumberSix - Reprappers
Hi Tony/Rich, To kick things off I've put up another post ( ), linking back to this one, in which I've shared a simple design that is quick enough to print and promotes "RepRap.org", suitable as show giveaway! I've appealed for others to join in and share their designs. Hopefully more folks will come along with other designs! Ivor.by NumberSix - RepRap magazine
At shows and exhibitions there is a custom of giveaways! We are looking for simple designs that promote "RepRap.org", are quick to print but at the same time demonstrate 3d printing. This ties in with the suggestion from Tony (Think3DPrint3D) over on the post about the RepRap Community Hub at the TCTShow in Birmingham, UK. Tony suggests items could be printed in advance and posted to RichRap whoby NumberSix - Reprappers
I've signed up with Rich to get involved this year. I'll be helping out at the RepRap Community Hub. Looking forward to it! Ivorby NumberSix - Reprappers
Hi Tony, Good idea! Is there a preferred Key Ring design, or 'give away' object around or will I just draw something up? I've signed up with Rich to help out at the RepRap Community Hub, so can print a few give-away's in advance and bring them along. Looking forward to meeting everyone! Ivorby NumberSix - RepRap magazine
I'm going! I've signed up with RichRap as a helper at the RepRap Hub for the three days! Do say hello if you come along to the show. Ivorby NumberSix - Mendel90
Hi Larry, I bought some of your filament this part week, and just want to say I'm very happy with it. (3mm PLA) Order processing was straight forward, and the delivery arrived next day at a very reasonable shipping cost, and the plastic is competitively priced. The plastic was of consistent diameter and quality. A final personal test I have is whether the filament will stick to a cleaned glassby NumberSix - Ireland RepRap User Group
I'm giving it serious consideration. Will certainly let people know once I firm up a plan. It would be brilliant to meet people face to face and have some chat time.by NumberSix - Mendel90
Good to see any Irish filament supplier start-up. Hope it goes well for you. Do you ship loose or on spools, specifically the larger volume. Ivorby NumberSix - Ireland RepRap User Group
Hi Lions3, Just chipping in with a little on my experience of printing with ABS. I had no success until I added a hood, but I was operating in a cool environment at the time (my garage!). This was all with my older machine, a Prusa Mendel. I moved the electronics to outside the hood, and the heated bed brought up the temperature in the box enough to help. I've more detail on an older blog post heby NumberSix - Mendel90

Hi Anthony, Congratulations! Well done and thanks for sharing your work. Always interesting to see how others get on with building from scratch. You can learn so much by doing it this way, and have many hours of enjoyment. It's not the way for everyone but looks like you are doing well and getting great satisfaction from the project.
