Thanks for the info guys, its much needed. As to the shape deposition manufacturing, thats what actually started me thinking about achining the parts for a stronger base. A self machining reprap would be a pretty nice pice of kit, especially since it could be used on both metal and plastic. ><by Ollie - General Mendel Topics
I have access to several milling machines, pillar drills etc.. and i was wondering if there was any real help out here on the forums, or anywhere else to help me to manually mill some metal mendel parts, as i am on the tightest budget known to man so buying a full set for +£200 is pretty much of of the question Any help?by Ollie - General Mendel Topics

I'm finding it somewhat hard to get cheap M3 x20 screws ( i'm on a budget ), the cheapest i've found them is £11 for a pack of 100 :/. But, i can get 200 x25's for little over £3.
