Hello all, After making a model in google sketchup and exporting it to skeinforge for Gcoding, I noticed its hollow. Is there a setting in sketchup to make it solid? (filled inside all walls) Thank you!by owism8 - General
I stuck with my longer bowden tube. Your right about the lateral force. my retraction is 25mm and I reduced the temperature to 190 after the first layer. I dont think its in reality 190, because the thermistor is not glass beaded and is hooked up to the aluminum block. As long as I can get prints out of this huxley, im trying to print a prusa asap and then transfer my hot tip onto it. I alsoby owism8 - Huxley
What if I want to just move x and y and keep z at the height it is at? Also whats the code to turn off the heater at the end? Thanks all!by owism8 - General
Hey Shaywalters, Ive had similar experience with techzones poor tip design. I purchased the following from CdnReprap Just PM him and tell him you want to purchase one. He makes them and sends them from Canada. This is more reliable and only 45$ ShayWalters Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I got things apart and found that the hot end > hadn't pushedby owism8 - General Mendel Topics
Nopheads couplings prove reliable by many users:by owism8 - General
my workbench can be seen in this video: Just a desk in my study room. Huxley takes a small corner.by owism8 - General
Hello reprappers, Instead of just enjoying the success myself I thought I should do it with the community since all of you helped so much to improve my machine. I was at the point of throwing this out and shoving some money into purchasing an UP, but its working now with your help! see the video: See the results: Thanks again. Please forgive me for always talking bad about techzonecom huxlby owism8 - General
Yes Thank you . I see that there is no limit into what can be designed into prusa. Just wanted to get feedback from experienced users since I dont want to recreate the wheel. Well keep your feedback coming. More questions below: How about your choice of X carriage for the hot tip to ride on? Which extruder design do you prefer? Which electronics do you prefer? Thanks! How about the x axis holders? I saw this one: Any thoughts?by owism8 - General

Belts are cheaper than motors though. But i guess you get rid of two 3 gears which take some nicer calibration to print out. ok so goal was simplification.by owism8 - General
awesome. So Im assuming that this two motor thing has a reason to it right? I currently have 1 motor on the huxley using the gear cog system to lift the Z's What led to this two motor on top deal? Thanks for any more input. Keep it coming.by owism8 - General
Thanks for your extensive help droftarts. Id prefer stringing over blobs any day since I can remove strings. I reduced temp from 230 to 225 to 220 to 215 and strings are reducing a little each time. I also tried the unscaled print of the pyramid and it looks OK but still not the resolution which looks like its sharp edged on the sides. I will work on the firmware now.by owism8 - General
Thanks for the allowance. I'll stop "bashing now". I just want newbees to have a good picture of the reprap business market out there. Anyways. I just hope others can start companies now which will help newbees to get more into this than away from. I do also appreciate every bit of learning which came out of this troubleshooting experience. Its sort of like how I know so much about Windows mby owism8 - General
@droftarts: Yeah my cable is 70cm long. Thanks for your advice. I also have to be careful when I cut it shorter that It doesn't push against the x axis or else my belt starts slipping. That happened when I positioned my extruder too close to the machine once, and it was fixed by just increasing the distance. I was just checking the techzone 3dtoolchain.com website and the settings it has as deby owism8 - General
Yeah I think thats the next leap I have to take forward in this project. I was trying to work with what I had and just stuck with the firmware Techzonecom sent me with the monolithics board. Thanks for your help!by owism8 - General
Yeah I did scale it down. Im sorry i didnt mention that I scaled it down to 30 by 30mm. but again the height came out to 16 mm when it should have been 25mm so thats a big issue. I have SF 38. Yes your right about long retractions , while its working it leaves blobs, but it has reduced threads from before so thats a plus. So If I reduce my flow rate thatll slow down the extruder right? I'll aby owism8 - General
Hello All. I test printed a Pyramid to see the stringing which goes on after retracting 25mm. I obviously need to increase that. My question is mainly that I noticed that the higher the print head goes in the z, the more the tip starts to dig into the plastic. What setting should I change to make the print head go higher with every layer? See the photos below: Heres my blog on it: Thby owism8 - General
Thank you, I lowered the turbine blades a little into the base plate and that fixed the problem.by owism8 - General
Hello All. I tried to convert the attached stl file to Gcode, but the spiral design in the middle is not showing. What could be wrong? Problem Solved Thanks all. I lowered the design more into the base and skeinforge then recognized it. Maybe it wasnt touching.by owism8 - General
Well I was thinking of getting rid of the couplings all together and introduce the Z axis model from the Mendel/huxley. I have that right now and there is no problem thus far. Here is what im referring to, the drive cogs on the bottom:by owism8 - General
Hello all, I'm about to endeavor to print my first copy of a Prusa. I know there are so many designs, especially the derivatives from thingiverse: So heres the question: What would you include in your next Prusa build to make it more efficient? Which extruder design would you use? Please keep it a plastic discussion. I personally don't like the z-axis motors with the couplings, just the idby owism8 - General
nozzle is .5mm layer thickness is .35mm I was told in the chat to try with a fan and I did but it seems that skeinforge is making the connection a little weird so the bridge actually doesnt fully contact the other side. So its just a flaw in the calibration model. I'll try with a hollow cube which is on thingiverse. Also How can I tell skeinforge to bring my machine back to home after the prby owism8 - General
Thanks for the feedback. Ive been trying to do some Bridge calibration with Skeinforge using I set the Bridge feed rate multiplyer to 2.5 and its still sagging. Any tips? Other changes i can make in skeinforge? Thanksby owism8 - General
Thanks for all the feedback. Ill go for Pleasant software since thats on a MAC. once i need to combine stl's ill go for heekscad on my virtualbox WIndows XPby owism8 - General
Nice thanks. Is replicator G a good alternative for skeinforge according to your experience? Im currently getting my machine used to skeinforge and tweeking so im used to it now. Please share your experience with ReplicatorG. Thanks!by owism8 - General
Hello all. What software is free and easy to use for rotating or scaling an STL from thingiverse. Looking at: Thanks all.by owism8 - General
