I'll try to clarify things a bit! Things are complex because they are a compromise between what everybody asked for But there's enough flexibility for any purpose out there. The GUI works with presets (print/filament/printer). --datadir is the place where presets are stored. If you start without specifying --datadir (as most of people do), Slic3r will locate a datadir in a sytem default pathby Sound - Slic3r

stoof, are you on Windows by any chance? if so, what version?by Sound - Slic3r
david, Slic3r does a little move inwards after completing a loop. This is to close the loop nicely without visible bumps before moving, like using the slight ooze as "cement".by Sound - Slic3r
Andy, can you attach your G-code file?by Sound - Slic3r
Hello jeremie, nice plugin there Slic3r's post-processing scripts are quite easy to create. Basically Slic3r will call your script with a single argument, being the path to the G-code file. Your script can then read it and modify it in-place. I think you can adapt your one with very few changes, let us know how it goes!by Sound - Slic3r
Slic3r just emits some M204 codes to configure Marlin with the values you provide. This basically overrides Marlin defaults, and lets you do it for each path category separately (perimeters vs. infill). The "Default acceleration" value is just the value that Marlin is reset to after the perimeter/infill-specific value was used. This is because there's no M-code for resetting Marlin to the factby Sound - Slic3r
Hello! Your report is very interesting as a comparison exercise. At a first glance I can notice the following differences between the G-code files: - in the KS one I see no retraction (you can disable it in Slic3r by setting retraction length to zero) - in the KS one I see a 2.5mm lift on Z change (you can enable it in Slic3r but it only works when retraction is enabled as well, but I honestly dby Sound - Slic3r
Sublime, I don't understand your attitude. I think you should relax a bit. Slic3r's not just the result of my work. It's a community project. People testing and providing feedback are very important for me. I receive like 20+ e-mails per day and spend most of my time on the #reprap and #slic3r IRC channels to hear what people say, provide support and discuss how to improve results. This is my idby Sound - Tantillus
Hello Sublime, "lack of concern in the quality area" surprises me quite well. I think you should try 0.9.8, as a lot of work has been done. Sticking with a very very old development version (0.7.2b) gives a very unfair idea of Slic3r to you and your users! Please have a look at the small gallery on slic3r.org home page or just hang around asking for samples of Slic3r prints. Here's a recent oneby Sound - Tantillus
A new version is out, please go download it now - I'm sure you'll like it for many reasonsby Sound - Slic3r
Can you export your config (using the "Export Config..." menu item) and post it here so that we can reproduce your problem?by Sound - Slic3r
Slic3r versions up to 0.9.7 display the convex hull of the object. Next version will show a more detailed projection.by Sound - Slic3r
@AndrewC, can you post your STL and config.ini to reproduce the issue with missing extra perimeters?by Sound - Slic3r
That's exactly the purpose of the sequential printing feature. Go to Print Settings, then open Output options, then enable the Complete individual objects option. The plater will preview and prevent collisions if any.by Sound - Slic3r

@Ate, it's definitely correct that first layer extrusion width is calculated on first layer height.by Sound - Slic3r
That was a bug in an upstream library (Clipper), fixed by the author only after I released latest Slic3r. Next Slic3r release will include the fix.by Sound - Slic3r
Can you share the G-code file showing that first layer is printed at Z = 0? Also, please attach your config.ini.by Sound - Slic3r
Just set the Temperature and First layer temperature settings to zero and Slic3r will not output any M104.by Sound - Slic3r
Dirty Steve, you're talking about "bugs" but you're not attaching any evidence or detail about them. Thousands of users are using up-to-date Slic3r versions on a daily basis, and, well, nobody would if it was so broken. So please, help us understand what your problems are. I'm here for this. I'm trying to understand your problems, but they are really not clear to me. The first one you reportedby Sound - Slic3r
What's your operating system? What version of Slic3r are you using? Can you point us to the STL file that causes the crash?by Sound - Slic3r
Dirty Steve, can you please attach your G-code file showing the issue? If no proof is provided, I can only assume the issue does not exist.by Sound - Slic3r
There's a good way to check whether a given STL file is good or not: use Netfabb Studio Basic. It's free. As soon as you load your STL file in it, Netfabb will display a large warning triangle sign should the file be invalid. Slic3r's algorithm is fully compliant with that check. So if you don't trust Slic3r's warnings, go check with Netfabb. Sublime, were you referring to Slic3r in your lastby Sound - Slic3r
