all i could think for that picture was: he looks like the nerd version of wolverine. don't care what he does or how much he earns. if they take make an add with Adrian i'll be impressed ;-)by possenier - General
^^ this is strange, i've made loads of their stuff in the last 20 years, and have been very happy with it.by possenier - General
you forgot the cheap shops, let me help you: 1kg PLA 16.99€ or 21.78$/kg :-)by possenier - For Sale
The dutch site now gives credit and a direct link to reprap.org that is awesome. as for the cartridges, i assume they just mean the reels they sell. (normal PLA and ABS)by possenier - General
i got this one a few months ago to cut aluminium for flight cases. cuts are absolute beautiful and a lot better than the cuts made by the company who delivers the profile.by possenier - General
the original is open source, so it's a cool thing from velleman to use a open source reprap thing. they could have changed a few things and make it closed source and not mention reprap. my biggest concern is the liability of the extruder. the XY movement doesn't bother me that much. the part will only move a maximum 0.41 times faster then on a X move platform the speed they claim is more thanby possenier - General
they use a sanguino board, and reprap software, and even mention reprap in the description. so i assume a lot of the guys who will build this, will also use it to the build repraps. i see it as a very good reprap promoting tool. velleman is well known in technical schools, so it's a great tool for schools to start with 3D. i understand the concerns on reddit, and agree with some but still thinkby possenier - General
i have no idea who on here knows velleman, it's a small belgian company that makes "do it yourself" electronics kits. they are located only a few km from where i live, and i've been building kits from them for close to 30 years now. anyway, it seems they have come in the reprap 3D print market, and i think they can be a big help for us, since their products are mostly good thing, with a very gooby possenier - General
i like the design a lot. if all it does is showing the general public that a 3D printer does not has to be as expensive as a cuby or fakerbot, than that is fine by me. at least they can show something that already works. something that can't be said of some other kickstarter projects.by possenier - General
i don't like a box like the fakerbot, if it doesn't have a purpose. that's why i made a flightcase for my prusa: make's it look better, and keeps it save when moving.by possenier - General
people forget you don't even need a gun to fire a bullet. a gun is nothing more that a complicated device to move a metal pin forward. if you put a bullet in a vise and hit the back with a nail it will fire. i'll be impressed if they print a bullet. as for me, even if i print that gun, i still can't buy a bullet thanks to my government. and i'm fine with that.by possenier - General
don't know if it fits here, but it is a machine, that can be made on the same machine. so i do see the link.by possenier - General
been on here over 2 years and never seen the donation button. sorry. now take my money and buy a new server.by possenier - General
i have a prusa 2, will this hot end fit between the steel rods? and is there a duct fan design that works on this to cool the plastic coming out (i need one for bridging stuff)? i'm still waiting for prusa his nozzle to come out, so i'm willing to test this one in the meanwhile. it looks awesome.by possenier - General
you don't need a big camera or stuff like that to convince buyers. take a cell phone, film that eiffeltower being printed and post that video. thats all you need for info on your kickstarter page. you would sell a lot of them. i know my printer would not be able to pull it of, and for sure not at 20 micron layer height. there are some reprappers on here that might, and you will probably need theby possenier - General
it's been stored very bad. just in a open curver box in my skatepark.by possenier - General
i normally set my printer up at 0.4 layer height, but since it's now better i want to make 0.25 my standard. i took some 2 year old PLA i had to print me some calibration cubes, and it has been a nightmare to keep the first layer stick. what makes it even more weird is i've printer 0.1 layers (with other PLA) without a problem. this PLA however does not like to stick. i raised my heated bed to 70by possenier - General
and the pedal was made with google sketch up. i took a original halve of the pedal, put it on my scanner, import in sketchup and redraw it like i wanted it. it works perfect for bmx, and i put way more stress on it that you probably ever would on a normal bike, so it's strong enough for day to day use on a normal bike. pictures are on thingiverse (some you need to look at full size, but they areby possenier - General
the originals are cheap as well since you can buy the plastic halves for like 5$ each, and they last longer. it's just that everyone likes his pedals just a bit different, and a 3D printer gives me that option.by possenier - General
i made this pedal for better pedal grind on my bmx bike. all bmx pedal are concave to make it easier to catch on tricks, but i wanted a flatter side for grinds. works perfect.by possenier - General
it's not really on the hot end, it's more just under the hot end. it helps cooling the layer you just printed, and also helps on bridging and when printing small parts.by possenier - General
i'll explain what is going to happen now here since you dropped the "M" name. that's like going to Israel and telling that joke from that nazi that ... People here don't like makerbot, but you don't need to care to much if you want a printer. i would also suggest the ultimaker. i've good seen nothing but good stuff from them.by possenier - General
i run my both fans on sangluino from a extra cable from my ATX power supply, i don't see why you could not do that as well, but use the 5v instead of the 12v. it's for a fan, it's not that it has to be 5V death on.by possenier - General
i'll take some popcorn and put 10$ on prusa...by possenier - General
my problem with makerbot is not that they cost to much, or are slow or are not open hardware. my problem is they are trying to make makerbot a eponym and replace "3D printer" with "makerbot" also the fact that Bre is trying to become like the next steve jobs. (now thats a guy i really hate) zach leaving/getting fired is like steve wozniak stopping at apple. the beginning of the end. anyway, i toby possenier - General
i think the easiest printer for under 400$ will be a printrbot jr you might however consider printing a prusa 2 or 3 or a mendel 90 and be able to print bigger things. if you source the parts yourself on ebay or similar you could probably built those also for 400$ it might be helpful to post here what you want to use it for, so we can suggest a printer that's going to fit more for youby possenier - General
i have not tested it, but if it's from the guy i used buy from on ebay (i think it is, and he now has a shop) than it's very good quality. filament is more like 2.8, but you pay by the weight so it doesn't mater. i just ordered there because they had the yellow/gold color i needed. i'm of for a few days holiday now, but i'll let you know when i tested it. pieterby possenier - General
i really tought i payed the normal price. it's now the 3th place i bought PLA from, and it has always been around 10€ for 1/2 kg. the place i use now is cheaper. 10€ for 1/2kg and 17€ for 1kg 3mm pla special colors are more expencive. and now the link: http://reprapworld.com/?searchresults&cPath=1590_1619by possenier - General
the mendel-parts site has a huge 3D printer for 1600€ but i would only order it if you are ready to wait for 1/2 a year since thats how long it takes to get something shipped.by possenier - General
1) i'm a big fan of "the big bang theory" 2) that whole episode was stupid based on the fact that it's 2013 and they still didn't have a 3D printer at the university, guys like that should even have a "darwin" in there house. they should also argue why they hate the new replicator2 because it's no longer open source. thats the humour i like in big bang. (remember the explanation why vista sucks?)by possenier - General
