Some time ago, I opened a thread about a boxed printer the 'D-Box' . I later designed and published a smaller boxed printer, the Lily 'F' (formerly named HXM) .
I decided that instead publishing the D-Box 'as is', it will be better to take the best of these two printers and I published on the Lily 'Big' which is the mechanics of the D-Box (slightly reinforced) taking advantages of a box

For geometry simulation, you can use the OpenScad delta simulator here :
You shall read the Wiki page on Delta geometry here :
The Athena is a rod based printer. For a large printer, you shall increase significantly the rod diameter to maintain reasonable stiffness, which will increase a lot the cost and the carriage weight.
I really feel that rod are not a good solution for large delta pri

You can use the PWM available on the expansion connectors :
Pinout for wired Duets are here :
Look the pins 18,21,22,23 which are heaters PWM output.
David have written here that you can drive a 25A SSR directly from the expansion connector pins.

I also have regularly no network connection at startup, while it have significantly reduced with the evolution of firmware. One or two power-cycle solve the problem.
I use DHCP and that may be related. I noticed that most of the time, the DHCP give the same address to each printer (I have two on Duet - with different MAC).
One other point I notice is that often if I try to FTP the board before o

However, while it seems than Ryan had a look on the firmware codes, he did'nt go into specifics or details of implementation.

The SD card directory structure is described in the paragraph 1.5 SD-card architecture of the page RepRap Firmware in the wiki :

I will add a screen copy for more visual impact.

This was discussed in this post , see others posts before this one.
You shall have a pushbutton shorting the relay output for the time needed to start the board (less then 2 seconds).
The emergency shutdown shall absolutely be on the mains, as an SSD can fails conductive (it occurred me after a short, which made the SSD permanently conductive and I did not noticed immediately..)

You still have available two extruder interfaces at Reprap Ltd and emaker.io. They are of lower cost than a Duex4. They were used on RepRapPro machines.
here emaker.io :
Duet shield and Duex4 have no internal logic, they are using signals from the main board processor, as described here : Duet_pinout .
Beware there have been evolutions and depending board versions, there can be small differ

It is fairly difficult to find cylindrical post and I failed doing do, but you can use hex post, as I have done on the D-Box, which use the same system, only on effector instead of the bed.
Ypu shall take care of the angle of the post (not that well done on the photos, but that is working anyway).
Note that on the Fisher, you shall retighten regularly these posts, they get play relatively qu

That will be a significant improvement for safety, but you may need to write a report file on the SD card before shutting down everything, for the user to know the cause of power stop.

Currently the ATX power pin is not deactivated in the case of thermal runaway, but that could be implemented.
You would need to add a M80 command in config.g to activate the ATX power pin at startup. My

Yes, I thought to that, a relay energised by the board after the Board start-up.
A DC/DC SSR could be maintained by the ATX output, which role is precisely to switch power, but that rise questions:
- Is the ATX pin set down in case of uncontrolled thermal runaway ?
- How long after the start-up the ATX pin level rise ? before the config.g reading ? after ? Can there be transitional values durin

I have indeed two power supplies, 24V and 5V (taken from the 24V), so shutting down the 24V to board allow to communicate with the board with the power drivers off (but the 24V PS is on). As now my hotend fan is in 5V, this is less useful than before.
The initial purpose of this separated 5V was to be able to have a relay shutting down the 24V power like on ATX power supply. In case of a board M

Not very nice photo and not very nice paint Job, but this is the actual face of my D-Box Delta.
Red switch on the right is the 24V, small pushbutton is the pause button (wired in parallel with the filament detection).
The general switch is the tiny white switch on the right of the Emergency button, and they are indeed wired in serie. It was not very clever to have the 24V switch much more visibl

That may be discussed, but in my view something called 'Emergency shutdown' shall be actually an emergency shutdown and cut all power to comply with regulation and practice. As a board "emergency shutdown" actually reinitialize it, so loose all data, an actual ESD may not make any real difference for the user and be much safer. If such button is installed, I'd much prefer being it labelled 'reset

I am among those who prefers wired connection, and have the will to face the hassle of ethernet cable routing.
But survey of a printer is not a critical application provided you have an emergency stop.
You can add a physical pause button for less urgent stop, see , so that allow facing most problems even in case of temporary communication loss.
However, I think the choice of WiFi is wise comme

On a Delta, accelerations which are discussed here are effector acceleration, meaning that at maximum diameter, the carriage acceleration will be 2.5 to 3 times higher due to geometry. That is a major constraint of delta design, which explain why designing a delta is even more than for other printers type, chasing weight of mobile parts. That is why wheels shall be preferred to sliding ball beari

I think you are making a short on your board, which is not a good idea.
Duet end stops connection are different from Ramps, center pin is +3.3V and you shall connect the two external pins on the switch. The reason for this disposition is avoid shorts if the plug is reverted.
See the schematic here : Duet_Wiring

For Slic3R , how does it work ? have I to load a cube of a given height, and so , I will be able to change the properties for the part section contained in the cube ?
Is there any documentation somewhere ?

An increased temperature for the second layer may be of benefit, but I don’t know of a slicer which does that. Sometimes, I was doing that manually.

That is strange if your motors are identical - They absolutely should be for wiring in serie -
You can swap the wires on only one coil to reverse the direction of a stepper.
