I'm using a LaserBot/MegaPi laser machine. Does the Marlin firmware have a 'laser mode' or g-code word that doesn’t stop the laser head when we switch the beam on and off during movement? Thanks...by rfresh737 - Firmware - Marlin
I was trying to move the Z axis at 2000 mm/min and it could not handle that speed. A speed of 100 to 150 worked fine. Thank you for the help...!!!by rfresh737 - Controllers
I'm converting my Prusa i3 3D Printer over to a laser machine because I want to try out the Z axis stepper motors to allow cutting of thicker woods. I've got the two Z stepper motors working using a spare EleksMaker L6 controller board, running Grbl 1.1e. I'm running both Z steppers from one Z axis port on the controller board (see attachment). I have the wires soldered such that the one Z portby rfresh737 - Controllers
Yes Marlin can run without an Extruder. Recall I modified this RC8 to run a laser machine (the LaserBot).by rfresh737 - Firmware - Marlin
Yes I want it enabled. I had it already uncommented. I'll give this a try. Thank you very much for your help.by rfresh737 - Firmware - Marlin
uncomment from config adv.h Z_DUAL_STEPPER_DRIVER You mean comment out, right?by rfresh737 - Firmware - Marlin
I got the Marlin firmware from gitHub. 1.10 RC8. MegaPi board diagram is attached. The pin file is: pins_MB_LaserBot.h (attached also)by rfresh737 - Firmware - Marlin
I'm using the MegaPi and it has 4 ports to connect stepper motors to. I'm planning on connecting 4 stepper motors: X Y Z Z Four ports/four motors. I just have to figure out how to configure the Marlin firmware for that.by rfresh737 - Firmware - Marlin
Attachment shows E1_STEP_PIN is defined in pins.h ???by rfresh737 - Firmware - Marlin
I downloaded Marlin firmware version 1.1.0 RC 8 and flashed this to my laserBot laser machine which has a MegaPi controller board. The laserBot is now working fine. I have a 3D printer frame sitting in my shop not being used which is the classic i3 Prusa type with the dual Z axis stepper motors. I am trying to convert this into a laser machine by installing a MegaPi controller board and flashingby rfresh737 - Firmware - Marlin
Resolved! I flashed Marlin 1.1.0 RC-8 and now my BenCutLaser CAM software is working with the laserBot...!!! G20/G21 and G90/G91 and Arcs and Circles are working fine.by rfresh737 - Laser Cutter Working Group
I've compiled Marlin 1.1.0 RC-8 with the 'flipped Axis' branch. With this version I've tested that G90/G91 and G20/G21 work OK. The current problem I'm having is that I can only send single line g-code commands to the laserBot machine. If I try to send the following, only the first line executes: G91 G21 G01 X0000.0000 Y0005.0000 Z0000.0000 F3400 M4 P128 G02 X0005.0000 Y0005.0000 I0005.0000 J0by rfresh737 - Laser Cutter Working Group
My CAM software needs to support Inches. I've since found out that laserBot/MegaPi/Marlin firmware is always defaulted to MM and if I want inches, I have to do the conversion from inches to mm in code. I find that hard to believe since Marlin, by default, does support G20 and G21 g-code words. I guess laserBot is designed to never work in inches. That just amazes me.by rfresh737 - Laser Cutter Working Group
I've got a laserBot and I'm trying to get my CAM software to work with it. In my Visual Studio debugger, I see that G20 and G21 are not recognized by the laserBot MegaPi Marlin firmware. I can't google anywhere and find what g-code words they are using for these two settings? Thanks for any help!by rfresh737 - Laser Cutter Working Group
So I found the solution to this problem. I just happen to notice that after homing, the X, Y, Z axis readings in the Repetier Host Manual Tab, did not show all 0's. The Y axis showed 10 (or maybe it was -10 I can't recall exactly now, but wasn't zero)...so I thought this seemed strange, so I looked at Config->Printer Settings->Printer Shape Y Min value and changed it to 0. That fixed it...!by rfresh737 - RepRap Host
I'm attaching a short video I made showing the Y axis stepper motor studdering at the end of the job. Does anyone know what might be causing this? This happens at the end of every print job I do. Y Axis Stepper Motor Studderby rfresh737 - RepRap Host
I'm not sure what is causing this but after the extruder lays down a layer, it moves to the starting point to start laying down the next layer...however it doesn't seem like the head lifts up because it runs through the layer with its head and leaves a trough line in it, on its way to the starting position. It's like the head lift doesn't happen until it reaches the starting point. I'm still tryby rfresh737 - RepRap Host
My Prusa i3 print jobs are printing OK. However, at the end of every job, the extruder seems to run fast in the Y axis and hits the end stop really hard and grinds the stepper for a couple of seconds. I was wondering if the Gcode was moving the head too fast at the end of the job? So I looked at the code and see this at the end: G1 X111.890 Y75.600 F5400.000 G1 X111.890 Y34.617 E18.62386 F1200by rfresh737 - RepRap Host
I need some help with my Support Material settings. When a support structure is printed, I find it very difficult to remove it. Is there a way to set this up so the support material isn't bonded to the main part so strongly? Thanks for any help...by rfresh737 - RepRap Host
I just saw the Gcode text field inside Repetier...so I will just use that...thanks for the tip on Universal Gcode Sender nightly builds. Which end should I have my Y end stop? The front or the back? When I home, the bed moves towards the front where my Y end stop currently is mounted. This is to bring the printed item towards me after it is finished printing. So I should check my RAMPS config.hby rfresh737 - RAMPS Electronics
Newbie here to 3D printing. I have Prusa i3 from Folgers Technologies (clear acrylic frame). I want to try sending some gcode commands to my RAMPS 1.4 board to issue a G28 command to set new X Y Z 0 positions. But I can't seem to get a prompt when I connect. I start with $$ but get a dialog saying the RAMPS is not finished booting. I've waiting 5 mins but still can't issue any commands. I suspecby rfresh737 - RAMPS Electronics
I'm setting my Filament first layer and other layers to 215 ND 195 (for PLA) but when I start the print job, the Manual Control tab shows the filament default settings of first layer 235 and other at 200. I saved the Slicer3 settings. Any help appreciated...thanks...by rfresh737 - Repetier
So, I looked at several YouTube videos on how to level your print bed. I think I understand the paper under the tip business at all four corners. My question has to do with the Repetier software Z axis. When I do manual bed leveling, I have to loosen the Z axis end stop and slide it down the rod in order to mouse click down the extruder head some more (if it needs to move down). But I don't knowby rfresh737 - Repetier
I'm about 70% of the way through building a Prusa i3 3D Printer with an acrylic stand, and wanted to ask about what software should I use to print my objects? The Ramps 1.4 controller board is pre-loaded so I think I'm set up OK with the firmware. The website where I bought my kit from had a link to the 'Repetier' software. Is this what I use to control my 3D printer and send the .stl files to tby rfresh737 - Repetier
