Thank you, I had looked at the data sheet and did not realize that H and L meant high or low. makes since now, thanksby Jeff B - Controllers

What firmware are you running on your extruder board with the 5d firmware for stepper based extrusion? posted under wrong topic not paying attentionby Jeff B - RepRap Host
I have been looking through the documentation of the stepper drivers and the mother board for gen 3 electronics, and I can not find any reference to the Gen 3 stepper drivers being full of half step. I am using the firmware from: which seams to be the newest 5d firmware Is there a way to switch between full and half step?by Jeff B - Controllers
I will have to take a look a litle later. C12 and R1 are missing from the board. Seams that c12 has something to do with the timing crystal, could this be part of my problems? I believe R1 is optional Also my board is green, all the boards that I have seen are red, it does say v2.2 on it though I checked for a short between pins 1 and 2 on the i2c header (vcc and ground) no open short, the rby Jeff B - Controllers
The LED when the board is powered on blinks so fast that it almost looks like it on constant, then slowly starts to blink 2 or 3 times a second, after a few min it just goes solid. Reset button does nothing. Im going to look at the links you supplied. with rudimentary soldering skills I doubt I can solder a new smd chip on the extruder board, buying a new chip would mean an entire board. I actually uploaded the ATmegaBOOT_168_diecimila.hex, it seams I just copied and pasted the incorrect prompt on the first post. Before the board stopped accepting anything I rewrote the fuse bits, using values from this link: . I was going to do the lock one last and when I tried that one, avrdude could no longer communicate. To write the fuse bits I used the same commands in the first post butby Jeff B - Controllers
So I used a USB plug (the ones from inside the computer that hook up to the motherboard) as connectors to burn a boot loader. I used: as my source I changed everything from m644p to m168 But I think I messed up when I ran these commands: avrdude -c ft232u -P ft0 -p m168 -U flash:w:ATmegaBOOT_644.hex:i avrdude -c ft232u -P ft0 -p m168 -B 4800 -U lock:w:0x3F:m -U efuse:w:0xFD:m avrdude -cby Jeff B - Controllers
I may give that a try, thanks for the tip.by Jeff B - Controllers
Well it doesnt blink so I guess it doesnt have a bootloader on it, which is irritating since i dont have any connectors to do what you showed in the link. I even looked into using a second arduino to do the bootloader, but still the connector problem. Even for a startup this is a very inconveniencing/irritating problem, I guess ill try to contact them... Thanks for the help.by Jeff B - Controllers
As some of you may have seen in the software forum that I am having some trouble with my pre assembled extruder controller from makerbot. Heres the problem: I can not upload firmware on it at all no matter what timing I try with the reset button nothing works I always get this error: avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x48 avrdude: stk500_disable(): protocol error, expect=0x14, reby Jeff B - Controllers
I may get back in touch with you about it, I just bought a lathe, so I will give it a try myself. If I am unsuccessful I will get in touch with you.by Jeff B - For Sale
I was fiddling with the code for the firmware, i tried to change it in the config page to get the endstops to work, that didnt work for me. So I changed some code in the stepper section from high to low under the endstop part. This fixed my problem. I have only tested all this with the X axis but it works as it should. Ill make a post later if i cant get the extruder board going.by Jeff B - RepRap Host
Im making slow progress, but progress none the less. The cables going from the motherboard to the drivers had there connectors installed incorrectly. ReplicatorG now works while still getting the payload not big enough error. Problems still encountering: Still cant load Firmware onto the extruder controller. RepRap Host software locks up when pressing a button on the xyz and extruder tabs Nby Jeff B - RepRap Host
I can now send new firmware to the motherboard from the arduino software, but i am still having problems with the extruder board. The extruder board should have a bootloaded installed on it. How can I check that it does? Also i dont have the tool for up loading a boot loader is there a way to do it without a tool? I do have a arduino Duemilanove. Also i dont understand the lock ups with theby Jeff B - RepRap Host
The error I get in the Arduino Software is: avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x48 avrdude: stk500_disable(): protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x48 I have tried every combination of button pushing to get it to work. Any ideas?by Jeff B - RepRap Host
When I tried to upload the firmware on the extruder controller I unplugged everything from it other than the ttl cable. I have looked at my port settings but Im not exactly sure what I should set them at, Ive seen varying numbers. Ill look into the 5D firmware. Also can the extruders RJ45 cable be plugged into any of the 4 plugs on the motherboard? I have it plugged into the one closest to theby Jeff B - RepRap Host
My problem is that I can not get ReplicatorG or the RepRap Host software to do anything for me, minus updating the Motherboard through ReplicatorG. What I have: A RepStrap fully wired minus the temp and header components I have a stepper based extruder. Gen 3 Electronics pre assembled from Makerbot (im assuming that they are functioning correctly.) What I Can Do: Upload new firmwareby Jeff B - RepRap Host
would it be possible to get just a nozzle but with 10-32 threads, or even just a #21 hole and I could tap it, I would buy a few if you could do this. jeffby Jeff B - For Sale
1. On the motherboard, on 20 pin power connector are the 3.3v inputs used for anything? I looked at schematic and saw that it was called out but could not see that it went anywhere else on the schematic. 2. On the Stepper driver, what is the most efficient manner to connect the stepper to this connector: stepper? 3. I would have to say that I agree. I would find that the RepRap logo at the top Right should link to the main RepRap site. Now it is $0.04 Jeff Ballardby Jeff B - Administration, Announcements, Policy
I am currently building a RepStrap that has a 22"x22"x18" (X x Y x Z) build area. But I also intend on using it as a small cnc router My solution to the sag problem are some half inch Thompson Rails and slides. My X and Y axis are assembled but not mounted to there frame yet, all parts are made out of aluminum and the entire 2D Cartesian system weighs about 30lbs with motors factored in. I finally got it working, thanks alot for all the help. Personally to help the growth of the this project I would Make it so that it just works, This program could be very beneficial to people like myself who like to use non free software IE Autodesk Inventor. Either way a well written install guide would work just fine, include a list of all software, programs, etc in your zip that you have wby Jeff B - Skeinforge
