Those are ridiculously expensive! wtf? Those prices aren't even representative of the manufacturing processes... And I'm not just talking about the fact that you could have a RepRap like Nophead's do it...that's just a stupid price...unless I've gotten the scale of those things wrong...maybe they are like a foot across or something and solid...hmmm Dementedby Demented Chihuahua - Let's design something! C3 is the one that needs to be changed... I used a .22 uF polyster cap. Then in the preferences for Extruder0 the setting for Extruder0_Capacitor(F) needs to be changed to 0.0000022. That should take care of your problem. The build instructions for the Extruder controller board is here... Just ignore their value for C3 and use the .22 uF polyster or similar cap I mentioned above. Upgrading Java to Jre6 from Jre1.6.0_07 problems - 16 years ago
Just a note for those of you who break things like me! I upgraded java from 1.6.0_07 that was already on there or was installed from the windows installer to the latest version of java that offered itself to me in a nice little pop up window...stupid of me, I know... min is the home position...the one closest to the stepper motor for that axis...you home the stage and the platform should approach the stepper. The max isn't really used but would be the furthest away from the stepper the stage can get. Dementedby Demented Chihuahua - Reprappers

Course, that aint very cheap. For cheap and nothing but hand tools needed, go with the electronics from RRRF and then build a McWire cartbot on your own. Don't use acrylic for the stages, yous scrap plywood or MDF. Beg some skater friends for their old 608 skate barrings. Use transfer punches to center the holes...a set can be had at Harbor Freight for like $12-$20 US and they are immensely useful. You pick the punch to fit the hole size you have, put it in the hole and line the part up on the part to be drilled. Tap the punch with a hammer to make a dimple and then drill on the dimple...center drilling first might be advisable depending on how accurate you want tby Demented Chihuahua - Reprappers

Closed loop control is better if--apparently--harder. Whether that is a shaft encoder or whatever...and, yes, I think there is a need. You start trying to push the steppers faster--faster ramping and such--and they will eventually lose a step here and there. Over a large build that adds up. Dementedby Demented Chihuahua - Mechanics

Forest, the speed emphasis is because most of us--almost all of us in spirit--are from the "Right Now" generation used to broadband access and convenience stores. I want my parts rather quickly which means faster print speeds. I've sat around waiting for a Stratasys to print...not much fun. I'm too ADD and impatient... Wont the positioning accuracy ultimately be affected--and in a very complicated and stochastic way--by the build and the builder's skill?
