Great Work! Now it just needs to be downloadableby redskinsjbs - Reprappers

Yea, see my teacher really wants to make his class great, its just that the cschool feels that funding should be placed elsewhere.by redskinsjbs - Let's design something! (I've got an idea ...)
Thats a great idea. Would you mind making a sketch just to help me with the whole process?by redskinsjbs - Controllers
Ok thanks. Yeah, i'm only in highschool so i basically just think oustide the box.by redskinsjbs - Mechanics
When it comes to the budget, I would like to get some funding from the school, and being a public school, that isn't much. I have parted with $800 on my Darwin, so I guess I am willing to do the same with the mill. As far as the dimensions go, I would like to be able to mill a standard 4x4, so i guess at least 30" x 15" x 5". After that and it is just a bonus. However, I looked at Patrick Hood-by redskinsjbs - CNC Routers, Mills, and Hybrid RepRapping
What about altering my previous design, and just have the drive screw mounted directly to the gear, and feed the plastic filament through the middle of the gear?by redskinsjbs - Reprappers
What about mounting the motor parallel to the drive screw and just use a worm gear to a normal gear to the drive screw. Short sweet to the point. Umm... I attached a drawing to demonstrate what I'm thinking. (Sorry about the crudeness, it was done in flash in 5 mins, but i think it gets the point across)by redskinsjbs - Reprappers
Does anybody have plans or specs to their super-sturdy RepStrap? I'm thinking of building a milling-capable machine for my high school, so any help would be grealy appreciated.by redskinsjbs - CNC Routers, Mills, and Hybrid RepRapping
I ultimately want to build one of these for my high school. This is because, after taking engineering there and designing things on inventor and AutoCAD, it was really unrewarding to print out a lame piece of paper with an isometric drawing on it. And what better place to have a rapid prototyping device than in a classroom, right?by redskinsjbs - Let's design something! (I've got an idea ...)
I had an idea about how to reduce the number of motors. It goes like this... Since only X and Y dircetions come into play when actually extruding, why not do away with a dedicated Z motor, and just put some type of gearbox that would take the power from either the X or Y motor and instead have it drive the Z? It seams like it would be pretty simple, and the switch for the gearbox could be operatby redskinsjbs - Mechanics
Instead of inkjet, what about the same principle behind laser printers. Electrostatic printing. I just thought that since toner in plasic, why not have just layer upon layer of toner be placed on top of each other(With some medium to hold it in place of course). The end result before the baking process would look like a stack of paper, afterwords, a plastic part in a pile of sand.by redskinsjbs - Powder Printing and Selective Laser Sintering
OK, so if it says its seeding, than it most likely is? In any case, I have a dedicated computer for just downloading, cus thats just about all it can handle. Can anyone say 8Mb Graphics card?by redskinsjbs - RepRap Host
Is that blue stuff at the top of car windshields a uv barrier? I was just wonderin if you could get some sort of film or tinting that could be stuck on and it would block the uv light.by redskinsjbs - Polymer Working Group
I have been seeding for a couple of days, but i don't think that it is really doing anything. Any tips on how i could find out exactly what it is doing and/or to make it actually start seeding?by redskinsjbs - RepRap Host
What about a cable drive? A cable is a whole series of threads all twisted right? So if the pulley had the negative of those threads molded into it, than it would work the same way any belt or beaded drive would.by redskinsjbs - General
think about the type of things that could be printed with the print head. Dreamcatchers galore, and suspension bridges, and really intricately designed fishing nets, and maybe even a raincoat?by redskinsjbs - Plastic Extruder Working Group
What about a toolhead that would allow you to fit a whole bunch of different static attachments. Kind of like an x-acto knife, but also able to include things as simple as a ballpoint pen for plotting. just a thoughtby redskinsjbs - Mechanics
~~Robert Teeter I Started downloading about 3 hours ago, and I'm at 369 MB downloaded at about 20 kb/s, so I think that the problem is on your end.by redskinsjbs - RepRap Host
Hi guys, my name is Jay Swift and I live in NW DC. I am a high school student, and my dad and I are building the Darwin Ultimately. Now I don't really have much experience in any of the fields that are needed to build a Darwin, but my dad is a computer programmer, and I am a kid who grew up on K'Nex, sooo any help I can I will be.by redskinsjbs - Baltimore/Wash. That Is really Cool. But then you have to conquer the problem of actually pushing the high-temp material through the extruder, because it most likely wont just float through like the plastics we use.by redskinsjbs - General
Look at the line created by Bruce Wattendorf in Rhode Island allllllll the way to Vik Olliver in New Zeland!!! Thats crazy!!by redskinsjbs - Reprappers
My thinking in the type of organization that I am doing is that it will make this project more accessible to people of the more average-joe type.by redskinsjbs - General
yeah, so these keling motors don't change the design at all?by redskinsjbs - Mechanics
--Jared I don't think that you need to buy buy both the full molded parts kit and the extruder molded parts kit from bitsfrombytes. It seems like the moulded parts for the extruder are in the big molded parts purchase. so all you have to buy is the 10- quid extruder hardware stuff.by redskinsjbs - Reprappers
