Hello all, I modified my printer awhile ago with a bed leveling sensor. I originally planned on an inductive proximity sensor but due to the fact that i print primarily on a glass bed I changed gears to a capacitive prox sensor. Honestly it works pretty well but has repeatability issues more than I expected and enough to see results in my first layers after printing the same gcode after successivby rcullan - General
Have you gotten a contact to fabricate your part for you? I live on the east coast of the US and I can easily print this in ABS plastic. If you would like to discuss further, send me a PM - Ryanby rcullan - Job Shop: I need stuff made!
Yes, I have looked into this. However a blendtec blender is $400, i'm looking for a lower cost solution.by rcullan - Plastic Extruder Working Group
I need some help from the community here!. I have been 3d printing now for about 1.5 years at this point and the box of bad prints has grown to a level where I need to cull the herd of ABS parts that I cant use. I am building a filament extruder and I will get it running / caliubrated using pellets but my main goal is recycling these bad prints into particles capable of being reclaimed into filamby rcullan - Plastic Extruder Working Group
Murray, Send me a PM with a link to the STL files. I live in the Northeast US so shipping would be minimal. - Ryanby rcullan - Job Shop: I need stuff made!
Is anybody able to cut through a 1/8" thick sheet of aluminum via either laser cutting or waterjet? I would provide the material and pay for time on your machine to cut per a DXF file that I would also provide. Someone please in the USA. - Ryanby rcullan - Job Shop: I need stuff made!
Bob, Thanks alot! I have ordered the suggested 12V power supply and will follow up when I receive it and implement it. - Ryan C.by rcullan - Reprappers
Bob, Thanks for the feedback. Do you have a recommended supplier / manufacturer?by rcullan - Reprappers
Hey all, I bought a nice Corsair ATX power supply to power my printer, it is rated for 40+ amps on its single 12V rail so I bought this figuring it would be perfect for my application. I was using a 10A laptop charger (which did work) but it gets REALLY warm when the printer is running. But I have an issue, I am only getting about 11.8V coming out of the power supply and as a result my print bedby rcullan - Reprappers
So I print in ABS onto glass with ABS juice I have found it to be very sucsessful. I made a big batch of Black ABS juice with some failed prints and I wanted to make some White ABS juice. However it did not go into solution with the acetone, I hd no problem making a consistent mix with the black that I could adjust the viscosity of the mix by adding acetone till it was where I wanted it. Thanks Roger and Audy, and I concur with the last statement. For my solidoodle I do have it enclosded with plexi, before that when my ABS cooled it warped on the corners. It would pull the Kapton up form the print bed stretching it with sufficient force to cause bubbles underneath the tape, this drove me nuts until I enclosed my machine. Seems to me keeping my ABS warm and away from un-even coolby rcullan - General
Thanks guys. Seems more imperative for PLA rather than ABS then?by rcullan - General
Hey everyone, So I am new to 3D printing. I bought a solidoodle and have been working with it for a few months. I am now in the process of building a MendelMax 1.5 and have a question about the extruder fans. My solidoodle only has one heat synced to the extruder motor, but I have seen tons and tons of variants where the fans are blowing right at the nozzle in various forms. To me this seems counby rcullan - General
Thanks for your input. I will try thatby rcullan - Developers
I have my Raspberry Pi up and running PrintRun/Pronterface whatever you want to call it to control my Solidoodle. I have it connected and can move the axes, home the machine, heat the extruder and print bed. So I am up and running for the most part. I have build a mount and connected a 4.3 lcd screen for a display and its working great. The only issue is that PrintRun wants to be larger than theby rcullan - Developers
Jan, Thank you for your explanation, and I believe you hit the nail on the head. The Kapton must be stretching as I remove the parts causing the creation of a void where it was previously adhered to the aluminum. Yes, your correct I have been maintaining my aluminum build platform very carefully taking any burrs or scratches out with 400 grit sandpaper. I also always clean the aluminum with aceby rcullan - Printing
Guys, I would really appreciate some helpful input. I am getting very good adhesion to my kapton tape on my HBP, so much adhesion in fact, when I remove parts the kapton is being pulled off the aluminum build platform and creating a bubble underneath the Kapton. I am using a Cricut Spatula for removing my prints and its an awesome tool. I am taking my time and slowly working the part free but itby rcullan - Printing
I wanted to get into 3d printing and so I bought a solidoodle, and i'm having some issues with it. The rods in it were actually 8.02mm in diameter and quickly (30 hours of run time) wore out one of the 8.00mm bearings on the x-axis. So I am endeavoring to replace the carriage assembly. I ordered 4 Chrome Plated VBX Rods on Amazon.com and two sets of (8) LM8UU bearings (8 needed for my repair (oby rcullan - RepLab Working Group
Hello, my solidoodle shipped with the rods oversized wich caused a subsequent bearing failure in the x-axis. And its also not able to be disassembeled... bah. I need replacement carriages made. Here is what I would like... all 5 parts from this Thingiverse. I dont care about color but I need them to be accurate. And it needs to be strong so an Infill of about 75%.
