Can someone tell me what the correct name for the connectors that are used for the steppers? EDIT: Found them - JST XH. Also are these connectors replicated on the plain 4 pin connectors below the 8825 chips labelled Jc_M1 etc?by rocketwiz - Controllers
Quotetarjeik I've ordered a 1.1 board from the MakerBase store on Ali. The listing still says V1.0, but I've been promised that they'll ship the V1.1 board (it shipped yesterday after having been out of stock for a while). Let us know if you do receive a 1.1 board.by rocketwiz - Controllers
Looks good, although it seems like there is only 1 seller on aliexpress who claims to have a v1.1 board (and that's only in the title, the description and photos still show a 1.0 board so we can't be sure of what we're actually buying) and that's at a huge 50% markup compared to other sellers. Also what's with the heatsinks on the 8825's? Shouldn't they be on the (possibly too small) solder viaby rocketwiz - Controllers
I'm in for the next board revision for my delta build - when can we expect to see this up for sale?by rocketwiz - Controllers
I'm in the process of planning a similar build, based on a wolfstock (which is a 2040 makerslide based mini kossel). Printed parts are similar to yours, although the corners aren't as wide. As it's makerslide the orientation of the vertical extrusions are like yours (not sure why anyone would orient it the other way though?) At the moment the dimensions are sized for a readily available 265mm heby rocketwiz - Delta Machines
Thanks for the tips. As I mentioned the parts aren't particularly thick so the effects are more pronounced. I'll try with more infill (currently using rectilinear at 30%) as well as slow down the bed cooling.by rocketwiz - Printing
Occasionally I print longish non structural objects across the full length of my 200mm bed. I have no problems keeping the part stuck down to the bed during printing using elmers purple glue (so much easier to use than abs slurry). But when the part cools it develops a slight curvature along the face not stuck to the bed, even though I let it cool before removing. Other than switching to PLA isby rocketwiz - Printing
So do proper switchmode psu's (say those 12v 30A ones you see on ebay) have better regulation? If so I'd use them rather than another atx for the next printer.by rocketwiz - RAMPS Electronics
OK the load resistor across the 5v rail did nothing except get very hot. The step down dc converter worked great with the added benefit of being able to dial down the LED brightness to a nice comfortable level. Thanks for the assist!by rocketwiz - RAMPS Electronics
Thanks for the link - somehow it didn't come up on my searches on this issue. I use an ATX power supply for the printer but it has worked fine so far without the customary load resistor. I might try it now to see if it will improve the voltage regulation If it doesn't work I have a couple of dc-dc converters lying around for another project which I can press into service (which would be fine aby rocketwiz - RAMPS Electronics
Thanks but the power supply is rated far in excess of the extruder/ramps board. In any case the LEDs are fine when the extruder is started/heating up. It's only when the PWM kicks in that the flickering occurs.by rocketwiz - RAMPS Electronics
As the title says I have a 12V LED lighting strip connected to the 12V aux header (located next to diode D2). When I start the extruder heater, at some point the PID controller kicks in (you know that happens when LED3 (or LED4) on the ramps board starts to flash rapidly). The odd thing is when this happens the LED strip also starts to flicker in unison. So somehow the PID signal (which goesby rocketwiz - RAMPS Electronics
Thanks. The shapeoko presumably needs a much stiffer gantry to counteract twisting and upward forces from the rotating bit so I guess I should be ok with a single extrusion. 400mm just fits in the space I'm thinking of so time to start putting the design togetherby rocketwiz - CoreXY Machines

As the title says, can this be done? I know repetier has project manager but there doesn't seem to be a similar option in slic3r.by rocketwiz - Slic3r
Fair enough. What about the suitability of makerslide for the gantries?by rocketwiz - CoreXY Machines
I've got some makerslide which I originally bought to build a delta but now thinking of a corexy for my next build (seeing as I can easily encase it with acrylic panels!). I plan to use the makerslide for the 3 axis rails and normal 2020 for the rest of the frame. Planned build area is 300x300 mm and maybe 200mm height. Could I get way with a frame size of say 400 or should I allow 450mm? Alsby rocketwiz - CoreXY Machines
I originally tried cork board and then exhaust wrap but over time but the base of the y carriage would still get quite hot from the heated bed. I found a supplier on ebay from the UK which sells an aerogel based product called spaceloft which has an r factor of 10x (I think) that of cork, Fortunately they sell 200mm square samples which coincidentally fits under most standard heat beds! Thanks Gaz - I'll send them a note to pick up some filament. Thanks also for the heads up on the q-bd (lucky I only bought a single extruder) but will use it first. You'd think that with > 700 units out there, there'd be more problems being raised if there was a design issue, although they could still be in the box like mine! BTW - those are great looking prints. I am definitely looking foby rocketwiz - Australia, Melbourne RUG
