Nice to see you here David. I actually used PLA for most parts too - except for my extruder motor holding bracket which I printed in ABS. All other motor mounts have a laser cut cork gasket between the motor and the parts to insulate the PLA from the heat of the stepper motor. I've done this before and it worked perfectly... the PLA part never even gets warm.by KDan - CoreXY Machines
I modeled double size corner brackets for my D-Bot build and it made a definite difference in rigidity. Regarding materials, I believe the author recommends using PETG instead of PLA or ABS.by KDan - CoreXY Machines
I wasn't reviewing your part, my comment was directed towards that style of brace. Sorry you took it personal. The fact is, that style has been around for a long time, but is usually one solid piece for each vertex. (not two mirrored, unconnected parts at each vertex) Your comments about the design implied that it was untested - "should add some rigidity to the machine". I was offering my directby KDan - Delta Machines
Quotethevisad Corner braces for a Delta designed for the Folgertech size machines. These work perfectly with the Robotdigg corners, should work fine with the Folgertech and should add some rigidity to the machine. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:993474 I tried braces like that several months ago (except modeled all in one piece) and they seemed to do almost nothing to reduce tower shake. Quoteledaero The cost of the board is so close to that of a smoothie that it's not worth taking the chance for $20. I have already added Bluetooth to the Smoothie, putting an ESP on shouldn't present any problems -and there's no need to modify any firmware, the Smoothie is already set up to use an external UART. It's just a matter of programming the ESP to join your WiFi network. What is neededby KDan - Controllers
I've been using Simplify 3D for a few months with my Kossel. I should say it's not a Folgertech kit, but is a very similar scratch built machine that uses an AZSMZ mini running smoothieware. In any case, Simplify3D is very nice, but in my opinion not that much better than Repetier - Cura/Slic3r for most printing. The main advantages are faster slicing, and more control over support material placeby KDan - Delta Machines
Back in March I designed enclosures for both the AZSMZ controller board and for the matching LCD display. It has worked out very well for me. I included a cooling fan for the stepper drivers in the controller case. Thingiverse link I've been using the board quite heavily on a Kossel Delta (based upon the Folgertech variant with a number of custom parts I designed myself) and I've only had two mby KDan - Controllers
QuoteAndrewBCN Let me rephrase it in simpler words using simpler concepts, so perhaps you'll understand. This forum is not a customer support center. (eight words, let's see if the message gets through) Glad you made it understandable with simple words that even a moron like me can understand. Not forbidden - but highly frowned upon. End result is the same. No problem - I can read between tby KDan - Controllers
So, please set me straight. Is it forbidden to discuss the AZSMZ board on these forums? Would it be better if cxandy were to totally withdraw his claims of it being open source, since it is viewed as being only partially open-source at this point? As the OP stated, it would really be nice to have a place for users to discuss this board.by KDan - Controllers
I just got my AZSMZ board installed and have been having USB communication stability problems. I bought one of those ESP8266 modules at the same time I bought the AZSMZ a few weeks knowing there was no smoothieware support (yet). This should pretty much eliminate the need to use the USB cable since I prefer to print from SD card anyway. I doubt that spooling G-code across WiFi is going to workby KDan - Controllers
It appears that the AZSMZ LCD board also directly accepts an ESP8266-WiFi module which can be purchased for about $3 or less on eBay. I bought one but haven't installed it yet because I need to flash the proper firmware on it first. If anyone has already done this, I'd be grateful for some guidance. BTW - if anyone is interested in a case with fan cooling for the controller board, and also a casby KDan - Controllers
If I install a ESP8266 wifi module on my amsmz mini LCD board, can I use the Smoothie web interface? If not, how is the ESP8266 used? Thanks!by KDan - Controllers
