Quotetiteuf007 Quotechris33 (other clone haters bit harsh) no its because they say the items opensource (where are all the files too? where could i go out and make a mks sbase) if people like the smoothie developers and duet developers put the files out as opensource its open simple i can make one you can make one everyone make one everyone developes it or help ironing out problems, everyone hasby Calvinx66 - Delta Machines
Binding is a term that is used to describe tight spots in the y axis travel. This is due to the bed support twisting when you try to level the bed if you have to tighten a corner instead of the heat bed actually lowering what actually happens is that the bed support twists because it is not strong enough which leads to the bearings twisting out of alignment with the smooth rods this then tighteby Calvinx66 - Prusa i3 and variants
Glad to hear it seems like HTA3D are trying to improve. I bought a p3steel from them earlier in the year and I can honestly say that I only have the frame, belts, pulleys, motors and nuts/bolts left on my unit from my original purchase. After a problem with a service I bought (but never received) from them from the beginning which resulted in them leaving me no other option but to be forcedby Calvinx66 - Prusa i3 and variants
Quotearthurwolf We are working on several web interface projects that would be much better than anything around at this point, but those are huge projects that are still going to take time. Several OSHW companies are involved in contributing to that work, it's really going to be spectacular. In the meantime the interfaces you can install to your SD card using the link above are a nice step up frby Calvinx66 - Firmware - mainstream and related support
And back to the original question which is interesting. Could David's duet version of the Reprap firmware be ported across to the smoothie board? Having both boards Smoothieware is slow clunky and shadows in significance compare to the duet version which is helped greatly by having a web interface that make the one Smoothieware uses feel like you are back on a ramps board. QuoteRodF Hard to say if it has retained flatness but I am able to adjust it if necessary. I have a question about that, why the attempt at such flatness and accuracy when it was always going to moved, wouldn't it have been better to have built it on the normal work surface and do all final leveling once the unit it in its final location ?by Calvinx66 - CoreXY Machines
It's looking good. Well done. I am in the middle of drawing my iteration of the coreXY just now. as I draw i am searching for each component as I require them, I found these lovely commercial belt tensioners, I might just try them... Automatic belt tensionersby Calvinx66 - CoreXY Machines
I really did think about printing an enclosure, but when it came to it, it just didn't seem logical to enclose the heat around it so to speak. So as you can see from the picture I just raised my board up to allow airflow underneath and the two fans which came from a car-boot €1.00 sale, fans were on a plate to cool a laptop. Luckily they both flow over the board really well and the rear most onby Calvinx66 - Duet
QuotePDBeal Do you have a picture of the cable when you go from your flying leads to the cable to the Duet? No unless I pull it out of the cable management chain and the loom going to the Duet. There is no problem in there as it meters out perfectly from one end to the other when I put it in and when I installed the sensor, again all three lines were checked for continuity between each other andby Calvinx66 - Duet
David Thanks for the Info. I'm quite anal with regards wiring It used to be part of my job wiring up down-hole wire-line oil tools, any issue with wiring of a tool that was 25,000ft underground meant you were sacked !! I triple checked the wiring and checked for continuity between pins at the time of placement and before I plugged the unit into the Duet (none) , due my chosen location of theby Calvinx66 - Duet
Hi All I have Duet 0.8.5. which is (or was) working fine.... I am trying to install a Mini height sensor board from DC42. I previously had a fully operational PNP probe but as I want to use a glass plate I bought one of David's Probes. I have found that in the web interface with no probe installed I have Z-probe reading of 433. And after installing the mini height sensor the reading doubles !!by Calvinx66 - Duet
Hi Thank you for the info, I admit I did not see that part, and yes does explain it well enough. I personally still think short instructional video's (in the same vein as Thomas Sanladerer's) are the way to go. As g-code can be pain to get your head around. Regardsby Calvinx66 - Duet
Hi While I have my system up and running with a PNP type proximity sensor I want to option to print on to glass so to this end I have purchased an IR sensor from David Crocker. I will try to get it up and running and if successful I will then try to put together a setup video. Regardsby Calvinx66 - Duet
I get this to happen in maybe one in three boot ups. I'm using a static IP with a direct to duet hard wired connection (no router) Most of the time a single power cycle cures it first time. But sometimes it take more than four or five times I also noticed you have to do a browser reset somtimes as well. It would be nice to get the issue fixed.by Calvinx66 - Duet
Hi Have a look the the following pictures how i got my fie structure on my SD card I hope they help explain things to you. The last picture shows my settings for the thermistor settings in my case I had to replace my hot end thermistor and it has different ohms reading from the Bed one. How I arrived at those settings for me might be considered some what of a "dirty hack" but it has worked fiby Calvinx66 - Duet
Hello Quotedc42 This is covered in the section on homing files in . Yes its covered there, again its not in a very easy to follow format. And I know its not just me so that would appear to be a problem. And while the assistance is excellent, it is still a problem with those who understand the system (because they get it) fundamentally failing to understand that just because "they get it" thby Calvinx66 - Duet
Hi Would you mind sharing you're config.g, homeall & homez files for me to analyze ? so I can understand the thought process and methodology. I'm a kinesthetic learner so reading and reading reams of instruction is just a P.I.T.A. But if I can see a working example to study I'm golden!! I have been messing with this further and I have some curious findings. All guides I have read state that the steps per mm of the extruder come out around 420. Using Pronterface I started calibration of the filament. After measuring 150 mm of filament from a known point I extruded 100 mm this lead to the marked 150 mm disappearing rather rapidly... So I measured back 250 mm and told the printeby Calvinx66 - Duet
Hi David Thanks for the reply I Set the feed rate to 5mm/sec in both the web interface and in Pronterface, I put that in the first post , but maybe visually it got lost in whole post. I did a search and already found that someone had asked the question about feed rates that you had replied to so i had already found out that it was best to use 5mm/sec. Hi all I have a very strange and reproducible issue when I use the web interface. using a Duet 0.8.5 During the final test phase and setup of my P3Steel with a clone V6 all metal hot-end direct drive, I went to test my extruder and calibrate it... Using PLA I set Extruder temp to 190c Set the feed rate to 5mm/sec Set feed amount to 100mm Extruder started to extrude fine for about 5/10mmby Calvinx66 - Duet
As an update I have checked the Heat Bed and all visually checks out, but still reads 2.2 ohms @ 12v, so I have an new bed on order !!by Calvinx66 - Duet
Thanks for the reply and confirmation, I thought I was going mad!!! Yes soldered to both pins for 12v operation. This bed was operating fine in this configuration on a RAMPS controller though. I will remove it and test at the PCB again though. Thanksby Calvinx66 - Duet

QuoteT3P3 Hi Calvin No requirement for a 5v external board, the onboard BUCK circuit works fine. For the Z motors in the 0.8.5 there is only one connector so you need to arrange to wire your Z motors in series(recommended) or in parallel with the wiring. Cheers Tony Hi Tony thanks for the update. Still would love the new board but cant justify the wait so I pulled the trigger on a 0.8.5 froby Calvinx66 - Duet
QuoteKoko76 New board supports two Z motor connectors on board, no adapter needed. Have a look at the website, many questions answered there. Yes you are correct if you are talking about the the new "wifi" board........ But I directed my question to Tony with regards the 0.8.5 (non wi-fi) board which if you look at the website think3d the 0.8.5 clearly shows a SINGLE connector for the Z axis,by Calvinx66 - Duet
