so what would you recommend (are your ideas) for Mendel? the the rocking plate? i was thinking like use what i have in the sketch for 2 of the extruders... than you could mount the third on its own solenoid.... so when activated it drops below the other two....by Mdbaughman2 - General Mendel Topics
Nopehead, Interesting!!! have you sketched anything up? the mocrocope idea (could you?) How much room would that take up with extruders? How would you atttach it to mendel?by Mdbaughman2 - General Mendel Topics
NopeHead You could fix one nozzle and mount the rest on solenoids with a sprint to retract them. ----- sounds simple... could you explain more? (curious... whats a sprint?) ------------------------------------------------------------------ Or put two or three side by side on a plate that swings on a pivot at the bottom to make any of three the lowest. The outer two would be a little higher tby Mdbaughman2 - General Mendel Topics
NopeHead, I finally got around to uploading the pics you asked for... Hope it helps sombody!!! oh here's a pic of my mendel... Its only lacking a geared extruder... I'm planning on adding a stepper driver board to drive the extruder... it will be 1/2 stepping and silent! I already tested it!!! (I had to check if it was working, because i couldn't hear it!by Mdbaughman2 - Controllers
Here is a Bowden Tool-Change idea I had... when i wrote this i was really looking to post it here... but i couldn't find this thread when I was posting my idea.... go fig.... sorry.... MB here's the link... Bowden Tool Change Ideaby Mdbaughman2 - Mechanics
to avoid collisions (second head hitting/moving a piece being printed... if you where to want to print several objects at once... or like you ponited out a dremel... or like one with PLA @.3mm for borders and one with ABS @.5 as filler.... there are a lot of uses.... hintss you beat me to it... lolby Mdbaughman2 - General Mendel Topics
I've been playing with the idea of a tool-change setup... anyway its currently an idea that someone might be able to design/build on.... anyway in the time that I've been sitting here thinking, i had an idea for a tool-change setup for the Mendel. The idea is one I have read in several places on the wiki/forums. The idea is mounting multiple Bowden extruders (or other type tool-heads) insby Mdbaughman2 - General Mendel Topics
on my system it seems to extrude for 5 seconds... however i'm not sure if its setup by time or volume...by Mdbaughman2 - General
also what firmware are you using? I'm using the firmware that came bundled with the reprap host software in the mendel zip... above is a link... also you will need to un-comment the line "use thermistor" in the firmware thermistertable.h tab because the firmware is setup for a thermocouple by default...by Mdbaughman2 - Controllers
the 10K pot IS for the pwm adjustment for the stepper motor... be very careful when moving this pot.. you can (and will) over-current the motor driver IC's and blow them if your not careful... as for the thermistor... you do have it connected to the TEMP pins? if so disconnect the wires and try testing resistance with your multi-meter to see if the circuit is working... the thermistor communby Mdbaughman2 - Controllers

I was looking at the list of people going to Makerfaire in San Mateo and wish I could go... I'd like to but it don't look like its going to happen... So I was wondering who if anybody is planning to go to MakerFaire in Detroit or to the World MakerFaire in New York? If so which do you plan on going to? Its because think I might be able to make it to one of other MakerFaire's.... - Mdbaughman2by Mdbaughman2 - General
What i did was i used a cd-rom analog audio cable for my i2c signal... using a small screw driver, i was able to remove the pins from the connectors and re-arranged them to my needs leaving the ground pins loose so i could connect them to the ground pins on the boards... on the motherboard i also soldered a strand of wire to the bottom of the motherboard to use as a ground, to ground to my Pby Mdbaughman2 - Controllers

I'v been trying to test my rxtruder stepper motor.... in the reprap host software when i click extrude the motor starts... but when i click it again it does not stop...(edit: even if i don't click extrude again, it keeps running) is this normal? also the motor does not run steadily and the extruder board glitches out sometimes(like it resets)... is this also normal? the only way i can getby Mdbaughman2 - Controllers
Sebastien, the "last 30 days" default is fine,,,, It just wont find any 3 letter words... no matter what options i apply...... like Nophead says... changing the option to "all dates" has no effect.... i hope this helps thanks again.... just some food for thought........ i just tried to search the forum for "ABS" and got nothing..... weird... some search engines, by default, are configured not to search for 3 letter words.... i think, should this be the case.... could somebody look into changing the setting.... I'm eager for your opinions experiences and differences on how 5/16 is working out... thanks MB. oh also what about 5/16 bar? I would assume that i still need M8 stud for the z screw... correct? here is the paby Mdbaughman2 - General Mendel Topics
