Quotedougal1957 IMHO Don't even consider the Ramps-FD setup There are several posts in the Ramps controll sub Forum re this the most recent being Ramps-FD Plus you can get a DUET from Replikeo (This is what DC42 uses) for $79.99 DUET OK there is no LCD display as standard but you could use one of DC42's PaneDUE kits (They are superb) or just go with the Webinterface which is also Superb. QuoteDeguello I bought this one from Amazon, but IR doesn't work with the mirrors I use for my build surface, so I didn't spend a lot of time on it. I eventually removed the autoprobe altogether and calibrated the endstops and radius. His IR-sensor is modulated though, plus uses 2 diodes at different height, and should work with any surface (except mirrors) there's even a video of him doing aby Koenig - Delta Machines

Quotematthew900 So I decided to disassemble one of the linear rails to see if I could get it to work right since I'm running out of things to work on till the aluminum corners get here. I discovered the same thing others have, missing bearings and minor metal shavings, but what I also discovered was that the channels the bearings move thru inside the slide where not manufactured evenly. Quotethevisad There are at several hundred dollars apiece, iGus is a company that provides bearings for replacements and is what I am using in my next printer build. I got in contact with igus asking for price on 3 800mm rails (TS-04-15) + 3 carriages (TW-04-15) and was surprised, $154 + VAT and shipping, sure a bit more expensive but not as much as I expected. I ordered 5 of theese: "GeeTech StepStick DRV8825" and got them today, However I noticed that they had a slightly different pinout than the steppers that came with the kit, see pic: I assume that M0-M2 corresponds to MS1-MS3 and that FLT is the same as VDD, BUT the pins named 2A and 1B has switched places, and looking at the RAMPS thoose pins corresponds to the connectors for the motors so I shby Koenig - Delta Machines

Quotemmcginnis9272 I'm sure Folger will take care of the issue, but it might be worth your time to buy 3 ball bearings at the local hardware store if you can determine the size of them. The True Value store by me has metric and SAE ball bearings in all different sizes. I'm sure they are metric. But then again, I'm an impatient person. I sent them a mail. Still think it's strange, 2 out of 3..... Just to wait and see then I suppose. EDIT: From that sample you linked to it sure looked like they used a rather thick grease... And from what I know from cars motorbikes the ball bearings there use real thick grease as well.by Koenig - Delta Machines

Quotemmcginnis9272As far as the prox sensor.... I've wondered about these as I have no experiance with them: Do they trigger at a precise enough distance to accuratly calibrate bed height? I didn;t know they were that precise. They might not fit this purpose, it seems that the object that is to be sensed have to be very dense, aluminium might not do it....
