I'd say for anything you are printing to use as either replacement parts, upgrades etc. for a 3D printer or if you require added strength for other projects definitely go with the ABS. For food related items you might make, I'd go PLA or PETG.by Viper97 - General
I've used both the Hexagonal hotend and an E3D Lite (currently running now). I can't see a difference between the two but I did see a difference between them and the cheap knock offs. I picked up a E3D Full for the Delta I'm building (currently running a Prusa I3 Steel) but I don't have real good feel for the differences between the E3D's as I'm still assembling the Delta. I think the big diffeby Viper97 - Prusa i3 and variants
QuoteDark Alchemist So, anyone know of a link to the latest version as I am done with RAMPS and only stayed with RAMPS 1.4 due to its price but too much hassle after the latest issue. The people running it how hard is it to wrap your head around it coming from a RAMPS mindset? V1.2 is the latest that I know of.by Viper97 - Controllers
Put a cooling fan on the driver board and see if that helps. Looks like a driver is getting hot and as a result screwing things up.by Viper97 - Prusa i3 and variants
This is great... following topic.by Viper97 - Delta Machines
Sounds like a heat problem... try mounting a fan near the bottom of the driver boards (the top isn't really the best place to place a fan) and see if the air flow under the driver boards helps keep the driver cool while printing.by Viper97 - Controllers
QuotePartTimeRonin QuoteQuvit I have had the mks sbase 1.0 for a bit of time now. I am running into a issue where the printer will just suddenly stopped printing. I have tried a bunch of stuff to get it to stop doing this and noting seams to help. It does not have the heatsink on it and I hand a fan that blows on the bottom of the board. Has any one had this problem From the Smoothieware site:by Viper97 - Controllers
Check you current/voltage on your Y stepper driver. Make sure it's correct and also check cooling. Sometimes a hot driver board can cause this problem in my experience.by Viper97 - Printing
I got mine from eBay... took a bit of time as the version changed from 1.1 to 1.2 but about 3 weeks overall to the west coast of the US. As far as I know there isn't an official store.by Viper97 - Controllers
Also... I wonder if the Sys Admin has included the IP address of the printer in the DNS records... just a thought. Sometimes Sys Admins can eliminate MAC's and IP's if they aren't 'trusted'. Perhaps a word with the Sys Admin is in order?by Viper97 - General

You are going to need a plug for the wires, normally red is voltage, black ground and the other color the signal wire. You can use Dupont connectors for this if you want/have them. They work but don't lock in as well as I would like. Since you're connect all stops as min - you should wire them in as such, X in second plug from the left, Y in the fourth plug from the left and Z the 6th plug - accoby Viper97 - General
While the OP asked the questions I've merely been reading. Looks like a delta is coming this way... The Duet 0.8.5 I ordered was overkill for an I3 and seemed better suited to a Kossel 1.5, so watching all this information being offered pushed me to pop the RAMPS-FD on the Prusa I3 Steel instead of the Duet and order extrusion and corners for the Kossel. Thanks! My pocketbook didn't need that!by Viper97 - Delta Machines
First a Duet 0.8.5 and now this... curse it all! Ordered from Filastruder since it's a bit closer than the Isles... thanks!by Viper97 - For Sale
My new Duet 0.8.5 arrives tomorrow... (ordered Thursday)! I'm looking forward to it, the web interface is superior to the Smoothie firmware. It's pricey but I think it is going to be worth it.by Viper97 - Controllers
Quotedc42 QuoteViper97 Okay... someone in England just got notified of my order. I went through the coding yesterday on the wiki as well as the blog. I thought I saw a set up for a Cartesian printer (example config) but now I can't find it. RepRapFirmware configuration guides: Cartesian, and base for the others: Delta: CoreXY, CoreXZ etc.: Thank you sir!by Viper97 - Controllers

Quotedc42 Quoteo_lampe QuoteT3P3 I highly recommend you use the Web Interface to interact with the firmware - this runs in any modern browser ...as long as it's Chrome or Firefox -Olaf I am told that it works with Safari too. It doesn't work with IE or Edge. I'm feeling a little MS hostility! I hate Firefox and Safari.... Chrome I use infrequently. Ah... such is life.by Viper97 - Controllers
I was just on the S3D site this morning and they do have a trial version you can download.by Viper97 - Prusa i3 and variants
Ah.. good point... I had forgotten the voltage difference. Might be a good time to go optical. Or just switch to straight up micro switches as I do have a set lying about. Thanks.by Viper97 - Controllers
Quotedc42 . The endstop switch connections on the Duet are different - if you are using microswitches then they need to be connected to the outer 2 pins of the 3-pin connector. As Tony says, there is no support for servo-deployed Z probe, but you can use my differential IR sensor, or an inductive or capacitive sensor - just make sure that you don't feed more than 3.3V into the input on the Duet uby Viper97 - Controllers
I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on this... has anybody worked with the board and a Prusa I3? I'm curious as to if there were any problems and what I might need to wrap my head around to make this work! (I know, it's overkill but cheap RAMPS is making me rather testy in my old age.)by Viper97 - Controllers
Is the firmware.bin in the root directory and not in a subdirectory? Also check the file extension. If the firmware has been upload the file should change from firmware.bin to firware.cur if I recall.by Viper97 - Controllers

Odd, I've printed both PLA and ABS on glass with hair spray. Elmer's works too in the friendly purple cap.by Viper97 - Prusa i3 and variants
Here ya go: Mind you this specifies the rework but if you note closely it's pretty much the same except M8 threaded rods have been tossed for M10 threaded rods. The end result is a bit sturdier. Now if you want really sturdy then an I3 steel is good... same parts for the Y-Axis and the extruder and carriage, the rest of the parts are not needed.by Viper97 - Reprappers
I'll chime in when I get home and pop a couple of links out in a post. I used a few resources to get started but the one's you have posted are also good.by Viper97 - Reprappers
You might want to look in the Prusa I3 section of the forum regarding experiences from others and their kit 'issues'. That's what convinced me to just self source (yes, it's not cheaper but the quality is something I could control). Others love their kits, hate their kits, want to shoot the kit maker etc. Either way, it's a start to get you to learn about this hobby. I guess what I'm saying isby Viper97 - Reprappers
While kits are interesting... perhaps you should self source parts? This way you get what you want the first time. Acrylic frames have been known to be flimsy and crack easily. In the above two kits the only major difference I see is the direct drive extruder (added build height) and the Bowden extruder (smaller build height). Both have their uses as well as disadvantages.
