Thanks for the links Martin, appreciated. Just wanted the input of someone from reprap, as opposed to a google search. I have no specific type of bot in mind yet, just looking for a starting point to see where we are these days. Good to know there's already a good base of knowledge out there., and some open source softwares too.by xclusive585 - Pick-and-Place Electronic Assembly (and robots!)

Just curious if there are any open source robotics projects? Like the reprap project of robots? I know as I get deeper into this hobby and get more and more parts laying around, I will definitely be interested in learning how to write simple firmwares for sanguinos and the like to control simple robots. After building said robot(s) out of spare parts and printed parts of course.by xclusive585 - Pick-and-Place Electronic Assembly (and robots!)

Issues with axis' only traveling in one direction are almost ALWAYS due to wiring issues or firmware settings. In marlin these basic settings are in config.h, I assume other firmwares are similar. The axis' on a reprap will only move towards the endstops, until the axis' are homed. This is because the machine has no way of knowing how far it has to move in the opposite direction, until it has beby xclusive585 - RAMPS Electronics

UV polymers, kind of tough material, and I think we could do it with simple inkjet heads and UV lights that hopefully wouldn't need to be as dangerous as industrial UV tunnels.by xclusive585 - General

It's not that simple. Everyone's config's are different. Even the same type machine with almost the same parts will often have some variations in the configby xclusive585 - RAMPS Electronics

QuoteCan I use the GPL to license hardware? (#GPLHardware) Any material that can be copyrighted can be licensed under the GPL. GPLv3 can also be used to license materials covered by other copyright-like laws, such as semiconductor masks. So, as an example, you can release a drawing of a physical object or circuit under the GPL. In many situations, copyright does not cover making physicaby xclusive585 - Object repositories
It's too bad the GPL people haven't released a hardware type license... But if Cern makes their license appropriate for the masses, that would be the way to go.by xclusive585 - Object repositories

I was briefly looking through the files trying to help you figure this one out. I don't know what exactly is causing your errors. But I'm curious if you could do what you are attempting simply by appending some g-code to the beginning of the print in your slicing software? Anyways, I couldn't find a useful manual or help file on printcore.py. As a linux geek it helps to make sure file permissiby xclusive585 - General

I am curious and look forward to this when I start to build my RoMax. I've had some prints where z-lift would be really helpful but haven't had the time or money to get my Prusa into proper condition to use z-lift. I'm thinking something like the Rostock design should be awesome at using z-lift without any issues. Using belts on pulleys the backlash should be minimal. Can someone answer me something about design software... I've heard a lot about Art Of Illusion, and there are a lot of tutorials on designing stuff in it, early into my reading into reprap I heard a lot about it, yet when I finally started hanging around here and actually seeing what people use no one has mentioned it... Was I misled that AOI is a popular program for 3d solid design? Even thouby xclusive585 - General
If you are sure your pulleys aren't slipping, and your motors are cool as you say, chances are your pots are adjusted too low, resulting in skipped steps. You can turn them up a little most likely. See how to check and adjust your pots hereby xclusive585 - General
