Many thanks to everyone! Just wondering to make myself a gift for Christmas...by 5Dlaser - Fisher
Hi everyone, I'm thinking to step up from Ormerod 1 to Fisher, It seems to me it has a smaller footprint. Could anyone give me overall dimensions? With and without filament reel... .. yes, I'm lazy... don't have so much time to download 3D model and measure it... Thans Stefanoby 5Dlaser - Fisher
..... or you will end like me today... ;( As far as you can see in the attached photo, the connector, the cable, the board and partly the case are gone. Damned!by 5Dlaser - Ormerod
Quotedmould DC42's and zombiepantslol's firmware also allow you to specify macro files that are executed before and after a pause, and will remember the location where the pause was invoked so as to be able to return to where it left off no matter where you may have moved the XYZ axis during the pause. Using a text editor, simply search for the height you need to insert the pause (e.g. to pauseby 5Dlaser - Ormerod

Hi all, I want to stop a print at the end of a layer, perform a manual operation on the printed part and then resume the print. Are there some GCode M functions suitable for that? M1? M84? How to resume after stop? Is resume button enough?by 5Dlaser - Ormerod
I get rid of kapton tape months ago. Hairspray is now my glue, I experienced hard sticking only when new and hot. After cooling down, almost everything went away applying a small force to the brim with a wood flat sharpened pegby 5Dlaser - Ormerod
Quotedc42 This thread brings back memories! I remember the day during my PhD research project in laser spectroscopy that I had produced a novel design of CO2 laser for a final year undergraduate to build, and I bet my co-workers a cup of coffee that it would burn a hole through a coke can (which the existing lab designs couldn't do). After a couple of minutes trying, I conceded defeat and we allby 5Dlaser - Ormerod
I bought an L-cheapo as test. it's a 2W 445nm blue laser, enough to cut matt plastics, cardboard and papers by scribing many times on it using Slicer with 0.1 layers. I took some tests on paper, with a weirdy attachment, I realized how bad was fumes production and what kind of risks I was facing so I stopped tests. Since my work is in the high power laser cutting machine tool field and I know veby 5Dlaser - Ormerod
Guys, the only safe mode to test the real absorbtion is to measure transmitted power having some laser power meter devices.... I would not rely safety of my eyes on home test. A small laser safety window with certified OD worths the money. IMHO.by 5Dlaser - Laser Cutter Working Group
700mW is a low power, according to safety regulation stated in IEC 60825, protection need to last 10 seconds on manned equipment, 100 secs on half tended equipment and 30000 secs on automatic equipment. Calculation are needed for the last one item, assuming you tend your laser, you need a plastic safety window labelled with a mark that states it have an OPTICAL DENSITY more than 3.5 at the 700nmby 5Dlaser - Laser Cutter Working Group
Many thanks! i did them a month ago and stopped any claim about night noises from wy wife! I recommend them to everyone who prints during night on a wood bench fitted to walls!by 5Dlaser - Ormerod
All newly commisioned, also heaters are running.... Two evenings lost on a damnes screw... Thanks a lot for the support!by 5Dlaser - Ormerod
Thanks a lot! PSU fan is still running at low speed. Think there are no short in heat bed connections, I found out one of the screw of the green terminal a bit loose, may be it was that. Connected the four motors, they are OK. Now I go on on recommissiong the heaters. I keep you informed.by 5Dlaser - Ormerod
Hi guys, I went into trouble this evening. I update the firmware to reprap065e, updated SD cards, connected Pronterface, set X, Y to home and all was ok. I tried out to set up heat bed at 110°, but when I commit it on pronterface heat bed, fan, & motors shut down. After ome powering on and off, they newly went on, New zero setting, new set for head bed and new, definitve shut down. There areby 5Dlaser - Ormerod
HI guys, just assembled my new "Green" Ormerod. Found out same problem, since first run Z screw was wobbling, due to Z gear tilting on the bearing. Just the time to print a couple of snowmans, the coat hook and the two sets of XYZ samples for compensation that I found out a lot of grinded metal powder all around. Unmounted all, cleaned, polished the screw with fine grinding paper. I found out tooby 5Dlaser - Ormerod
