Just an update. I've been trying to get my Arduino software setup and had many problems, like Sanguino not showing up under tools, searched and searched, then OMG wow Dust to the rescue again, the guy is blow away awesome! http://dustsreprap.blogspot.co.nz/2015/06/better-way-to-install-sanguino-in.htmlby virgodave61 - General
I'm totally fed up and thinking I need to fork out the $100 reprap wants for a Melzi. Reading the old Melzi seamed to go great and writing to the new one seamed to go great, but now my PC won't connect to it anymore. Any ideas? From tired Daveby virgodave61 - General
Hey thanks for telling me how to read the fuses that resulted in a real let down, so now what? I was able to get it working by entering: avrdude -p atmega1284p -c avrisp -P com4 -b 19200 -U lfuse:r:-:h -U hfuse:r-:h -U efuse:r:-:h My new board said the fuses are: Low=D6 High=FD and Extended=DC, so I plugged in my old controller and read that and they are all set the same, what a let down. Ok, I get it, thanks. I'll play with it again tomorrow after work and post the results. You haven't given me your opinion about what coarse of action I should take, do you think I just need to reset the fuses to the proper condition, or do I need to do more? Do you offer any input on this? Your help is appreciated! Daveby virgodave61 - General
Thanks again Dust for coming to my rescue, you have no idea how much I appreciate it. I'm a bit confused on the com port issue because I'm not using one,all I want to do is make the fuse settings correct, the Uno is connected directly to the Melzi as described in the articles. I also wonder if the Geeetech article is correct about the fuse settings, I looked at your link to the fuse settings andby virgodave61 - General
I have a new Melzi board that has issues with the endstops. So I found this article that suggests its a fuse issue. I setup a Arduino Uno as a ArduinoISP. I navigated with the windows cmd tool to the folder where avrdude resides then typed: avrdude -B 8 -ATMEGA1284P -c usbtiny -U lfuse:w:0xFF:m -U hfuse:w:0xDC:m -U efuse:w:0xFD:m to reset the fuses as described in the Geeetech article, and allby virgodave61 - General
Thanks Dust, I will look into this. Daveby virgodave61 - General
My Melzi had one of the drivers go bad for the extruder, so I bought a new one on E-Bay. When I installed it and tried to home the axis's the motors would move a little bit and stop, one axis even went in the wrong direction( Yes the stepper was wired the same as before). I've searched and searched the net and found an article that says its a bootloader issue (fuses set wrong), buts its applies tby virgodave61 - General
Thanks everyone for your input, I guess I just have to keep playing with things. Both Cura and slic3r print the same way.by virgodave61 - Printing
This is a photo, I don't think this is z-wobble or ribbing, its in the wrong direction. Also all 4 sides are the same. This is a RepRap Mendel.by virgodave61 - Printing
Thanks for the reply, but dont get it, Z wobble? Why would Z wobble affect my print in an x,y direction? I'm lost? My prints, print a line first on the outside before printing the main print and I noticed they are in a wiggleing pattern, kind of wonder if its a power supply problem, ie. ripple. I appreciate any help, but right now I'm lost in confusion. My printer right now is printing perfect prby virgodave61 - Printing
Forget it I stumpled on a link to see all posts after posting this. Wonder why you have to make a post to see your postsby virgodave61 - General
All I wana do is read my past posts to see if anyone replied to them. How? Thanks Daveby virgodave61 - General
Thanks, I will try changing the belt tension, but cant see that being the problem because the waves are on all sides. I dont remember having this problem with Slic3r, but I need infills to work right, thats why I use Cura, perhaps I should try their forum.by virgodave61 - Printing
Oh, I'm using the damn awesome Cura slicer!by virgodave61 - Printing
My present camera dosent do macro, so I will describe it. My prints have ribs on the sides, or bumps, vertical like. I printed a gear and a box, both have the ribs like every 1/8 inch or less on all sides. When I print the gear the teeth are great but the base (Plain round part) has ribs on it. I dropped the print speed in half and no change. Please help me and thanks in advance if you can. Daveby virgodave61 - Printing
I tried netfabb Basic and it seams like a pretty cool utillity, but when I scale the stl and save it. Then open it in anything else no object appears on the screen. I will fiddle with it more, the same happens when I resize it with FreeCad. I also noticed that netfabb reports the size as being different than FreeCad. But I thank you very much, for giving me something to start with. Perhaps my reby virgodave61 - 3D Design tools
Wow, thanks much for the awesome quick reply! I will try netfabb Basic. Daveby virgodave61 - 3D Design tools
I want to print an auger, but am to noob to make my own, but downloaded one on thingiverse, but its hudge. Its like post hole digger size. I want to resize it down to inch size. Is this possible and how? I have Art of Illusion and FreeCad, but can't figure a way. Anyone can help? Thanks, Daveby virgodave61 - 3D Design tools
No I didnt try concentric infill at 100% yet but will, my last one was using rectilinear. I will try it.by virgodave61 - Printing
Setting infill to 100% doesnt help. With Cura, nothing, with Slic3r it causes the shaft hole to be messed up. There must be someone who can print these because my printer came with one! My gear is cracked and need to print one before it gives out.by virgodave61 - Printing
Thanks I tried cura and am getting the same results. Can you post your setting file?by virgodave61 - Printing
I have a RepRap Pro Mendel single color and running on Linux (Ubuntu). 1.7mm filament, .5mm nozzel. Thanks for your time again, you have no idea how much I appreciate it! Daveby virgodave61 - Printing
Thanks for your time, the bottom gear in the pic is about what I'm getting. Ive found posts on this but wasteing alot of plastic trying to change things. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Daveby virgodave61 - Printing
Is anyone able to print a good small gear with slic3r with filled in teeth, if so can you post your config file? Thanks, Daveby virgodave61 - Printing
Did your recalibrate your retraction length setting for your extruder? I would print a simple single wall box and watch and see if you have gaps when the printer gos to the next layer, if so then you need to decrease the retraction, if the retraction is set to low the opposite will happen and you will have plastic buldgeing out. Its listed in Printer settings tab.by virgodave61 - Printing
Does anyone know where to get conductive ABS filamant. I would like to be able to print electronic enclosures with some shielding effect. Thanksby virgodave61 - Polymer Working Group
For all noobs like me I found if I clicked on the bed the model was off the lower left side of the bed. I have found that when the item is placed off the bed you can use plater.py included with Pronterface and drag the model wherever you want it or click center then export it and it will be back on the bed, I was useing skeinforge, but when I tried to print it the printer wouldnt home, no extrudeby virgodave61 - Reprappers
Scott I have found that when the item is placed off the bed you can use plater.py included with Pronterface and drag the model wherever you want it or click center then export it and it will be back on the bed, but when I try to print it, it's still not printing, homing, extrudeing etc. But the x and y axis are working but Z isn't. (I'm using skeinforge) This def. seams to be a sclicer problem aby virgodave61 - Reprappers
Scott have you found a solution for this I'm having the same problem and can't find any centering option in Pronterface if you click on the bed it zooms in on the model and shows it half off the corner of the bed. Daveby virgodave61 - Reprappers
