Seems like the bowden is only used as a filament guide, it's a good way to route it without too much drag.by Mikk36 - General New Machines Topics
Are stepper motors even affected by the load? To my understanding they're being normally run on constant current regardless if they're moving or not, loaded or not, so the amount of load should not affect them at all, the stepper nor the driver is not affected by it.by Mikk36 - CoreXY Machines

You're always free to build a version from the git master repo, there are also now hopefully more frequent builds from the master tree at https://bintray.com/lordofhyphens/Slic3r/slic3r_dev for Windows platform.by Mikk36 - Slic3r
Something like this could be maybe a bit overkill, but looking at the list of prices it wasn't that bad compared to normal D-SUB connectors (assuming a selection of branded connectors, not noname ones). More options here (active selection 2 high-current, 15 lower-current): For a one-off connection I don't find that too expensive.by Mikk36 - CoreXY Machines
High current for the hotend heater is definitely an issue with those connectors, easiest solution is indeed to bunch up multiple of them, although it could still slowly fail, when the connection isn't the best. I had a double Molex KK connection (rated for 4A per pin, so 8A total) fail with 3A load, because the connections slowly degraded and it resulted in burnt plastic around it. You might have your printer set up well for bridging, but printing unsupported curved perimeters is not the same as bridging. You just can't do that well. You can easily spot those when you check the output in Slic3r before printing.by Mikk36 - Slic3r

Quoteasbo I would say that's nonsense, somewhere like BST, for example, would be forced to close and would surely have a notice on their store page. Considering the vast quantities of ballscrews and bearings on aliexpress they'd lose out on a lot of business. From BST store: QuoteSince the product lines will be adjusted by Aliepxress from 1,July,some products will not be allowed sell online, likeby Mikk36 - General
Shrinkage should not be accounted for in the steps calculation, because it varies by material, heat settings etc. Calibration of movements should be strictly by mechanical movements. In case of ball screws etc, which are precision machined to match the spec (instead of printed pulleys etc), there is a spec you can assume from them. 8 mm lead will be 8 mm lead, not 7.9 or 8.1 mm.by Mikk36 - Mechanics
Quotethe_digital_dentistThe OP asked what is the gear ratio of a 32 tooth pulley driving a 20 tooth pulley. The word "ratio" tells you what to do: 32/20 is the ratio, by definition.Well, yeah, guess I was also overthinking it. Quotecozmicray How about with known Steps / mm set in firmware Command Z axis movement A Measure the Z Axis distance moved B A little calculation Reset steps/mm untilby Mikk36 - Mechanics
The Prusa calculator still works, even if you're driving the screw with a belt. It's all about the ratio of the pulleys. Since you're saying that you're running 32 teeth on the stepper and 20 on the screw, you're running 1.6 : 1 gear ratio, anything else doesn't matter about the belt system. Since that calculator doesn't do floats in the inputs for the ratio, it's easiest to put in 16:10 ratio unby Mikk36 - Mechanics

Controlling it with enough thermal mass (thick plate) shouldn't create overshoot issues with the more powerful heater, since it'll all average out. The plate will still distribute the heat quickly enough, it'll just be more mass to heat up.by Mikk36 - Developers
Anyone found any shops in Europe that also ship to mainland Europe (Aluminiumwarehouse only ships in the UK)? The price looks quite ok from the Aluwarehouse, but its lack of shipping seems to be a showstopper. Should maybe ask them for a quote and see if they're willing to ship overseas. Edit: I'm more specifically interested in shipping to Estonia.by Mikk36 - Developers
Easier way to access AppData/Roaming folder without showing the hidden files and folders is to enter %appdata% to the address bar in explorer. So the Slic3r's data directory is: %appdata%\Slic3rby Mikk36 - Slic3r
