Building a SplineScanner or BookScanner? Using one, made it better? Your RepRap is a scanner? You just use a (video)camera to scan things? You make your own telescopes? Talk about it here.

Hey guys, So I’m totally new to 3d printing, as well as programming in general (I’m only 16 and have been busy with school). I have a Vision 3d Printer(http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/vision3dprinter/the-vision-not-just-a-3d-printer-a-dream) , and I have already built my printer. Here are some companies that are doing just this sort of stuff: Organovo(http://www.organovo.com/) We could try to model the extruder after them. I did but when I unzip it its just a folder then the options are readme or the marlin folder and i go in marlin folder then the options are a lot of aurdino files, but no marlin application.by Matmo - General

I tried to download Marlin on Github, but I don't understand anything on that website. Is there an alternate place to download it where I can understand it? if not, can you tell me what to do? btw, I am now running snow leopard thanksby Matmo - General

Vision 3d printer the only downside is shipping, estimated to arrive in august. However, I contacted the seller and he said that it would most likely arrive in early july. He said he would rather people pleasantly suprised than angry because it is lateby Matmo - General Mendel Topics

You have a good point that it is cheaper to self-source your own kit. However, this guy, like me, is a high school student. Neither of us have a degree in engineering. I found that it was cheaper than the other kits. I also found that if I could not order everything from Amazon, and the shipping added up. The kit I got contained 2 lbs of filament, a $50 value, and it had its shipping included.by Matmo - General Mendel Topics

Check out Kickstarter. They operate from the idea of mass ordering. This is when many people, ranging from 25-100+ pledge to buy an item. This allows the vender to get much better deals on everything, and sell everything for cheaper. Most of the vendors there do not wish to make much of a profit, more to start their company and get the name circulating in the 3d printing world. I personally justby Matmo - General Mendel Topics
