Urbee: The World's First 3-D Printed Car According to the article, the car's entire body was made from a 3-D additive process. That's a BIG rep-rap!by kitep - Reprappers

QuoteFools! I will destroy you ALL! Ask me how! Gosh, Now I'm not sure I want to help I find if I come in thru the main reprap page and then click , it doesn't have me logged in, and I don't see which forums have new messages until I click on them. That would be this link & click OTOH, if I go directly to the forums, everything works. That would be this link Notice the slight variatby kitep - Administration, Announcements, Policy

QuotePrint time on a Mendel for a Makerbot is around 60-70 hours (that's just printing, no finishing, or raft). But isn't most of that sitting around letting the machine do all the work? If I can get be checking on it between tv shows, and just restarting when it screws up, that 60-70 hours is only what, 5 hours of actual work? (Just guessing on this number)by kitep - General
Saw this about using a 3D printer to make food. Quotefrom that site The early concept for Cornucopia is a machine that looks like a microwave, but with canisters of ingredients on top and a cooking chamber underneath. The canisters refrigerate and store ingredients. These would be piped into a mixer, which would combine ingredients, and then pump it into the Cornucopia’s chamber through a funnby kitep - General

Is there a way you could stack or connect in parallel the parts that limit you to 2 amps? Or what if you just built 2 2-amp drivers and connected them together? To be clear: this is just brainstorming. I am by no means an electronics expert.by kitep - Stepper Motors, Servo Motors, DC Motors
Somewhere on this forum is a link to a youtube video that shows a machine actually using an XY plotter to lay out cement and build a building that way. Actual production, not simply a hoped for project. Alas, I can't find itby kitep - General
I think you're right. I tried going straight to dev.forums.reprap.org and it has me as logged in. Guess I'll add that link to my favorites bar. Thanks.by kitep - Administration, Announcements, Policy
QuoteI look forward to your comments... I agree with most of your stuff, and will even raise you one: it's not reliable enough that you can just turn it on and walk away. My view of the future goes something like this: Reprap will get better and better, but also more expensive. Heated platforms aren't free, you know. And developments to come (more heads, etc) will also cost money. Professionby kitep - General
I would like to see finer resolution, with colors. What first interested me in Reprap was the idea of printing out custom D&D minitures and spaceships. But alas, this is harder than just making a smaller hole in the extruderby kitep - General
QuoteSo the important PSU spec would be a 12V rail with more than 14.3A. So all you really need is 172W? Plus whatever you run off the 5V rail.by kitep - Mechanics
QuoteRepRap needs to decide what they want to focus on. I think they're trying to specifically avoid this. Instead it's a "everybody works on the part that interests them".by kitep - General
I just did the following: 1) Posted a Reply 2) Editted my message 3) Clicked the Update message button 4) After it redisplayed, clicked on - usually I just hit the button 5) Clicked on Now the main forum page has me logged in again! It shows me which categories have new messages and how many. I think hitting the & buttons instead of the big back arrow in my top-left corner was the keby kitep - Administration, Announcements, Policy
If you look on Thingiverse, you'll see several things people have made. It does seem that people here are working more on building/improving their printer rather than printing things out. But a good nervous fidget will burn more calories than sitting calm and sereneby kitep - Look what I made!
I remember seeing this thread on the Arduino forum The most relevant paragraph: QuoteNow. DVD ROM motors. The average DVD drive yields three motors. There is usually a DC motor for moving the tray. There is a DC or stepper motor for moving the optical head. And there is usually a three-phase spindle motor for spinning the disk. It's the last one that people are usually interested in, sinby kitep - Reprappers
I suspect 3.0 will be highly influenced by that $80,000 prize - especially since the Reprap team had input on deciding what the requirements to win the prize are. So I would think the main things for 3.0 would be 1) Reliabilty - hit print and walk away, come back a week later with all your parts printed out 2) Printing circuit boardsby kitep - General
I see you found the Baltimore/DC Reprap group, which seems to be active. You can also check out the RepRap map. There are some scattered around York, but they seem to be about the same distance as Baltimore.by kitep - Pennsylvania RepRap User Group
You did better than I. My searching failed to even turn up the NEMA web site. The other link you posted was pretty good. Thanks.by kitep - Mechanics
Ok, so it's the size of the outside of the motor, and not the max torque rating, power usage, or anything else. I guess the NEMA 23 would be 2.3" x 2.3" then, eh?by kitep - Mechanics
I see references to NEMA 17 & NEMA 23. What makes a stepper motor a NEMA?by kitep - Mechanics

When I go to the main forum page, it says I'm not logged in. But when I click on a forum (such as "general" or "reprappers"), it says I am logged in. What's happening? It's not really a big deal, since it considers me logged in when I want to post, and shows me the new messages when I click on a forum. The only pain is that the main forum page doesn't list which ones have new messages, sinceby kitep - Administration, Announcements, Policy

For Mendel you need: 440x2 370x6 294x4 355x2 418x2 Why does this require 9 bars? Edit: I see it now. There should be an additional 330x2 in the above list. Good work in finding a way to use only 8.by kitep - General
