Quoteaduy I have a 12"x12" that I made from a large granite tile, its perfectly flat, I plan on expanding it out to 18"x18" using more of the granite tile. its perfectly flat and wont crack due to heat differential. as for the surface, I found that 5mil kapton works great, however i havent found a good solution for gluing it to the bed, perhaps a very thin epoxy with work well. How do you heat tby AVRkire - General
When the plastic heats to the point of melting, won't the colors bleed and make it impossible to get accurate colors where you want them?by AVRkire - General

I am working on a design that requires 2 Y motors. Since my Ramps 1.4 board only has pins for one Y motor, am I safe in simply splicing together both Y motors and attaching the spliced connection to the Y pins on my Ramps board? Or could this cause accuracy issues? Thanksby AVRkire - General

Thanks for the replies everyone. I was playing around with this again this am, and it this is weird and I cannot really make sense of this. So what is happening is, with the printer off, no power at all, if I try to move my extruder side to side along the x axis, it is perfect from right to left, but really, really tight from left to right. However, if I actually turn the motor shaft, by turnby AVRkire - General
All of the sudden I noticed my x axis is incredibly difficult to move in one direction. In the other direction, it is completely fine. I have a mendelmax, and use 4 igus bushings for my carriage on 8mm hardened rods. This literally started happening today. Anyone have any ideas? Also, can I use any lubrication on the igus bushings? Thanksby AVRkire - General
I am building a new Z axis, and I wanted to try attaching my z axis to my idler bearing by tigheneting a nut on both sides of the idler bearing. So I am using a 10mm threaded rod, and a bearing with a 10mm inside diameter. and simply tighten a bolt against eiether side of the bearing to lock it in place. It seems to spin very nicely when I move the motor by hand. I also have access to a lathe,by AVRkire - Mechanics
I want to extrude 15mm of filament after reaching temps, and before homing all on all of my prints. Can anyone tell me the g code to extrude 15mm of filament?by AVRkire - General

Thanks everyone. Since my design was in openscad, the mirror function in openscad got me exactly what I needed. I will keep this in mind if ever dealing with an stl that I did not design myself. Thanks!by AVRkire - General

bryanandaimee, I could not disagree more with you, but since I have posted for my opinions, I understand that is what I got. If you believe I am immoral, that is your right, if you believe that lulzbot did nothing wrong here, and it is 100% my fault, than I have really done nothing to sway anyone. Im not blaming anyone for their shipping prices. I am blaming them because I was mislead into thinking a product was in stock, when actually it was in stock in another country. And I don't think their site does any service in letting customers know that. I have taken blame plenty of times on this thread, IMO the company needs to take some blame as well, and do better by it's customers than offerby AVRkire - General

Just to be more clear. Here are the first 4 times pricing came up, all of which I checked very carefully. The only one I did not check was the final one, mostly because I was distracted actually with a print I had going on for about 6 hours up to that point, and in the back of my mind I thought the only thing left to check was shipping, and I buy from them knowing they have reasonable shipping pby AVRkire - General

I have acknowledged that I should have paid more attention. I'm not absolving myself of blame. That said, I still feel badly mislead. I trusted them and their site, and I got burned for it. For a US company, In stock and in stock in London are two very, very different things. I was told in stock, I still think its wrong.by AVRkire - General
If I had any indication whatsoever that it was even possible to be buying from outside of the country, I would say it was 100% on me. However, having bought multiple times from them in the past, shipping from PA, USA, and having good shipping prices, I think this one is more on them than on me.
