Thank you very much for the replies. I tested some stuff. I removed the belt from the y-axis and did the same test and the stepper motor just worked fine. The backlash on the system is about zero. So I think it will be a combination of some friction and the stepper drivers which are set quite conservative. I already started lubricating the x and y axis' and that helped a bit. Hi all, First of all sorry if I'm on the wrong sub forum. Since a week I can make use of a builder big builder 3d printer. It uses marlin software so it works for me the same as my own prusa i3 printer. But I run into a problem. When the Y axis is reversing its direction the first few steps it doesn't move. If I move the Y-axis with 0.1mm steps it moves accurate, but when I go the other way aroby Jan-Willem - Mechanics
Thanks, I'll try wrapping some aluminium foil around the cables.by Jan-Willem - Controllers
I finally had some time to change my ramps board for the rumba board and everything works! So I'm ready to print, still one extruder tho. I'm only noticing one strange thing and that there are sometime some strange artifacts on the screen. It looks like everything shifts to the left and the pixels that are then missing on the left are displaced on the right but then shifted up. Switching off andby Jan-Willem - Controllers
Well, this looks like I can adjust all extruder's individually.by Jan-Willem - Controllers
It would be pretty cool if it works how I want.by Jan-Willem - Controllers
Yes getting everything aligned will be hard but very nice if it works! But I want to make it a bit more difficult by using a 1.75mm bowden system and a 3mm geared drive system. The reason is that I want to print flexible and stiff materials in one print so I can make morphing objects. I want to do this by manipulating the amount of steps for one of the extruder steppers in marlin so that repetierby Jan-Willem - Controllers
Yes I do. But first things first and that is getting the machine running with the rumba board. Then getting the dual extruder working and possibly a third. If that's all working I'll look into better drivers. tmc2100 seems to be a good driver as well. But than it would be better to switch to duet wifi.... I'll keep dreamingby Jan-Willem - Controllers
That's good news! Can I be so rude to ask you to share your marlin code?by Jan-Willem - Controllers
Quote Did you remember to cross the ribbon cables so that so that EXP1 on the RUMBA board goes to EXP2 on the display and EXP2 to EXP1? Of course I did. In the end I tried every possibility but no succes. Quote If so then try plugging in the display board to a RAMPS board. You will need the adapter for the RAMPS board. At least that way if it works then you know that there is something goingby Jan-Willem - Controllers
Well..... no When I plug in the full graphic controller and apply usb power to the rumba board windows doesn't recognize the board anymore. So this seems to be a hardware issue as well.. off coarse I included the u8glib library in the main page.. sometimes I get 4 white squares on the board with some extra random pixels and some pixels missing in the squares but that's it.by Jan-Willem - Controllers
The display finally arrived today. I'll give it a try tonight or tomorrow.by Jan-Willem - Controllers
Is there any filament residue in your mk7 gear? I had the same problems with a hobbed bold. By cleaning all the tiny teeth with a scalpel knife I solved the problem.by Jan-Willem - Printing
ok, What are your results with first layer set to default?(so 0->200% extrusion) I found this thing really helpful to reduce the z wobble: but then modified for a M8 nut. If you send me your email via pm I'll sent you my file.by Jan-Willem - Printing
Great that you are now able to print. I think you still have some strange first layer settings. In your first picture I can see the second layer as well so it is definitely under extruded. Which software do you use and can you make a screenshot of your setting page? Since I don't have a pic of your prusa i3 it is hard to say. But I can try. Is there any play in your hotend mounting? How straighby Jan-Willem - Printing
I would suggest adjusting the speed via the smart controller. Start ridiculous slow, something like 30-40% or so. If that goes well increase speed on the go. Try finding an object with a large first layer with a lot of small diameter holes so you have some time to play around.by Jan-Willem - Printing
Have you tried printing the first layer a bit slower? Then you give it a bit more time to bond to the bed.by Jan-Willem - Printing
I will give an update when the new LCD arrives.by Jan-Willem - Controllers
I think I finally know what is going on. The g3d exp pinout is different than the rumba pinout g3d: rumba: due to the difference in pinout it forces activates a reset loop. The full graphic display pinout looks much more compatible: So I ordered that display and hopefully it will work.by Jan-Willem - Controllers
Hi guys, At this moment I'm using a g3d RAMPS 1.4 board. As an upgrade I want to use a RUMBA board bought from ebay. I get everything working except for the SD card. At the moment I plug in a SD card the board freezes directly. With my RAMPS 1.4 board the lcd display always turns off and on when I plug in a SD card. I also made a video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTrFDSzKi48 Yes Iby Jan-Willem - Controllers
Hi, My first post here and directly a question. I've got a Prusa i3 printer and used to use a ramps 1.4 board from gadgets3D. But I had some ideas about printing with 3 extruders so I decided to buy a RUMBA board from geeetech. Since I still had the ramps 1.4 with a 2004 lcd smart controller I wanted to use the lcd for the RUMBA board and there came the difficulties. I found out that I had to plby Jan-Willem - Controllers
