You might need to map/test each pin in the ribbon connectors.
It might seem like it has been enough to "reverse the ribbon cables", but some pins within the ribbon cable sockets may actually be different than than your "old" LCD.
Not all clone manufactures follow the ReprapDiscount standard pin placement exactly in the ribbon cable. And you needing to reverse the cable, seems to

if is this what you're asking?
"Sketch uses 116984 bytes (46%) of program storage space. Maximum is 253952 bytes.
Global variables use 4575 bytes (55%) of dynamic memory, leaving 3617 bytes for local variables. Maximum is 8192 bytes."

I've just "upgraded" my prusa i3 clone from a reprap smart controller to a reprap full graphic smart controller.
It seems to work ok (after I've reversed the ribbon cables) but when i select the "print from SD" menu on the lcd it flickers and lags when I scrolls through the print files on the SD. what can be the problem(s)? and how can i (hopefully) fix it?

ahh that makes sense, can I theoretically connect both drivers to one motor and then use a bigger stepper motor then? - just wondering

there's continuity... I've wasted a LOT of time.
thanks for your help! I need to buy a new board.
but what's the point of having the same signals going to both z drivers? couldn't they just have used a single stepper driver to run 'em both then?

I have a MKS gen 2z v1.1 board
I want to have two extruder-steppers and only one z-stepper, I'm new to marlin/arduino but i feel like I've tried changing every single setting in Marlin.
No matter what i try both steppers acts as z-steppers (when i move z axis both steppers move)
can someone please help me, how do I make it possible to have two (individual) extruder steppers?

hello I'm looking for the part files for the reprap mendel, where can I find that?
would be even better if I could find some drawings since I may wanna machine some of the parts (instead of printing them)
please help me with tah
is the parts accessable in a form that can be opened in a 3d designing program i.e. Google sketchUp or Autodesk Inventor?? (possibly convertable and importable )

again thank you so much for tour help!
- another question;
Is there anyway I can make this; one controller and one relay control multiple heaters? (maybe "just" two) or do I relly need a controller for each heater?

I tried another SSR and the problems it is the same, it keeps heating after reached set temperature... but I could see that the power turns of to the heater so the relay actually works. I waited a while and the temperature sank to the desired temperature and now it turns on/off to stay there, so it ACTUALLY WORKS!
I need to see if I can change the settings so that it turns off sooner, but either

what is a 12vdc relay?
I have some extra SSR's so I'll try them then if you say it might be shorted, I bought some spares

I've successfully hacked the controller now and the SSR relay now gets 12v from it (and it lights up= power on) but now I've assembled the whole thing with heater and all but when it reaches set temperature it just keeps heating... even thoug the SSR turns off (indicator light stops glowing and I can see the the 12v turns to 0v with my multimeter) any Idea what's wrong?

Hey I'm trying to build a plastic molding machine.
I Just cant get my damn wiring to work!
I thought you reprap guys might know a thing or two about basic electronics so please take a look at my wiring diagram (attached)
I've connected a lamp/ bulp (to represent / act as the band heater) it glows, but never turns off not even when the controller reaches the set temperature (I fool the thermocou

Hey I'm researching the possibilties of building a hot end / extruder myself.
can I use this resistor for the heating element (as it says in the title)
and is this a correct reprap hot end design (drawing shown down in the midlle of the product description)
thanks.

Reprappers
On most reprap designs I've seen there is 5 stepper motors X:1 Y:1 Z:2 Extruder:1
and so there is on the diagram on the bottom of thisSanguinololu wiki page but on the top of the page, it says there can only be connected 4 stepper motors???:
"...Small design - board is 100mm x 50mm (4" x 2") - barely an inch longer than a business card!

I hear what your saying, it makes sence.
I'll start making a robust and steady frame/ body and then later on (possibly) upgrade it speed wise (if "needed")
So the sanguinolulu is programmed the same way as an arduino (with the same software)?
But I might as well buy "strong" stepper motors to begin with I guess it can't hurt? (if i can find them for a reasonable price)
btw. what stepper motors

Logrod,
Thanks it makes sence! it's sounds like a very good idea to use sanguino and pololus since I then can use the Reprap without it being connected to the PC (very usefull!). And it looks to be a lot of usefull info about that out there since thats what most (many) others went with, so I'll go with something that's bin done (and documented) before.
Is there any thing I can/ should do to mak

I think I'll go with belt drive then (for a start at least) don't want to be alone when I run into problems and need help besides the belt drive looks to be accurate enough when I look at the printed parts you people make. Btw. on one of the ebay links it says you can buy it with or without polulus... what's a polulu??
which curcuit would you say would be the easiest/ best?? I guess I'll have to

thanks logrod; what are the difference between the two links? there's a pretty noticable cost difference?? is it because one is with and one is without Arduino or...?
if I buy either one is it then all (electronics) I would need? thanks for your help so far

Yes I was thinking the same thing, I guess I'll learn more about the electronics as I go (I'm willing to learn and I find it interresting)
Does it have to be a specific board to run the RepRap software?
Are you reffering to an Arduino shield or do I not need any arduino or what?
can I use something like this 5 axis stepper driver
or can you tell me what I'm looking for (possibly a link)?

Hey I'm new here, nice to meet you
I've bin dreaming for a 3d printer for a long time now and have finally decided to get started
As far as I understand you first build a RepStrap and then use it to make a "real" RepRap.. Right?
I'm an precision mechanic apprentice, and I'm able to make metal parts as well as plastic parts. I'm pretty decent at CAD (not so much CAM yet but I'm learning)
