Thats a lot of info guys...
But in general if I have to use Panasonic servo and its drives, how do I connect it on RAMPS board for X & Y axes?
Is there anyone who has done this?

Prashant..

Hi all,
I am about to build a 3d printer for large scale printing.
I am thinking to use Servos for X & Y axes and steppers for Z & extruder.
I am exploring how to connect servos to controller board like RAMPS/MKS/etc.. Any suggestions?
Also thinking on to control all axes using CNC servos and extruder through stepper but I don't know how to procees on this..
Can the CNC controller re

Hello,
I am using RAMPS1.4, Full graphic smart controller with dual extruder settings in Marlin 1.0.2.2.
The lcd menu does not scroll when I rotate the encoder button. The pointer ( > ) descends down but the text does not move up.
Does anyone came across such issue.
I am attaching a video file which shows that the menu text does not move up.
Regards,
Prashant.

Moves fast away from home..
Actually my HBP size is 300x300mm.
So x,y cordinate for Z xis home was calculating at X_max/2 and Y_max/2.
Bit it didn't worked..Then I made changes..
#ifdef Z_SAFE_HOMING
#define Z_SAFE_HOMING_X_POINT (X_MAX_LENGTH/2.0) // X point for Z homing when homing all axis (G28)
#define Z_SAFE_HOMING_Y_POINT (Y_MAX_LENGTH/2.0) // Y point for Z homing when ho

Hello,
I am using Marlin v1 with RAMPS1.4 board.
When I Home X and Y axis, it homes correctly but after hitting endstop the X and Y axis moves very fast, and at fast acceleration.
Does anyone came across this issue?

Hi all,
I have connected 300x300mm heatbed with 40A DC-DC SSR, 600watt PSU, Marling, RAMPS 1.4.
Still I don't get the heatbed heated upto 55 deg C, it takes about 5 mins time to reach 50 deg C. Autotune also fails for 60deg C.
Is there any specific wire size to be used for this circuit?

Hi Kawobei,
Can you share some photos of sevenswitch which you made.
I made one but not working.
Also can you share the config file for Marlin. I mean whether to use bang-bang only or PID.

Hi Traumflug,
I have successfully built and run sevenswitch 1.2.
Just want to confirm whether I should comment the PID temparature control in Marlin.
As you mentioned Bang-bang temparature control in Sevenswitch wiki.
Countermeasures:
Lower PWM frequency. For example, comment out FAST_PWM in Teacup's config.h.
Use a bang bang temperature control. For Teacup, also use BANG_BANG_ON = 255.

Hi RGN01,
I also built a sevenswitch, connected through Pin 4 but cannot achieve the results.
I don't feel the FET on sevenswitch heated. Niether the temp on LCD rises.
Can you post a picture of your sevenswitch.
Also can you post your config.h file.
Thanks.

Hi,
I tried maintaining 2 - 3 mm gap between the heater block and metal extruder, but the the heating time is very much increased during PID autotune.
As the hotend barrel is directly connected to the base of metal extruder.... Anyone noticed..?

Hi,
It's not because of stepper driver of extruder motor. It is because of the metal contact of hotend with motor while running PID autotune. Did anyone came across such situations?

Hello,
I am using a metal extruder with direct drive.
The extruder stepper motor gets hot while heating the hotend.
Did anyone noticed similar.
Setup similar to below link image.

@ Fizpok, I have removed the D1 diode.
Now switching ON/OFF PSU using M80/M81 G code.
Connect as below:
VCC on RAMPS to +5SB on PSU.(Purple color)
PS_ON on RAMPS to PS_ON on PSU(Green color).

Hi,
I also have the same issues.
My LCD screen displays square boxes.
I am using this for connecting LCD to RAMPS.
I will try using RJ45 LAN cable & see.

OK, I am not using servos anytime.
What I understand is that there are two options to print without PC - either connect diode D1 OR connect VCC on ramps with PSU.
Let me know if my understanding is correct.....
"Without D1 installed, or when the 12VIN is not connected, the Arduino gets its power from USB. If you want your kit powered without USB connected you need to solder in D1 OR connect VC
