How are these motors?
Amazon link
Trust me, id jump on a duet if the price wasn't so high. EDIT:I thought it was $200 but it is $170. Still a nice chunk.

Dang, well that means I have to deal with the noise then because ramps can only do a max of x16.
Thanks again for all the help and insane fast responses.

Sounds like a plan!
I already have a 80mm fan on the ramps board currently to help with temps.
I just knew these motors were "wrong" from the kit. No matter what I did they were loud and REAL hot.

Makerfarm i3 (old style) 8"x8"x8" build volume.

Ok, if I was to buy some new motors what holding torque and amp rating would be good?
Also this might explain why the motors are VERY hot running and insanely loud. I can barely hear anyone talking to me if im in the same room with it.
Id LOVE LOVE LOVE to get a duet or smoothieboard to run the new motors but I cannot swallow that pill for this printer.
So what would be a good stepper for a ramp

Here is a picture of the sticker.
All my motors are the same.

Thats my issue also. I dont have a clue that the amp rating of the motors are but im sure they have to be .4
I tried getting info from the vendor and got nothing in return.

$1000 and under gets into the kit area and little support.
I agree for the price the true MK2 is a solid machine. Taz printers are also nice but a bit more money.

I have this issue also but if I drop my current then I loose steps like crazy.

Agreed. Keep the printer ridged and aligned well and go from there.
Even as "tight" as my printer is I can lean on my glass desk and see about a .001"-.003" deflection on my print bed with a indicator on the X carriage.
Id end up spending more on mods than my printer is worth so for me glue works good and I never have a print let go.

I just use gluestick personally.
I dont have a mess of it and it cleans up real fast under some warm water.

Correct your Z0 point.
If you have a Z switch with a screw or other adjusting means then you have to adjust up to the bed isnt so close to the nozzle.

If you get too cold then instead of the plastic flowing out the tip, you end of more or less just cramming it in there and it extrudes and adheres terribly.

That sounds too cold for ABS. I print my ABS at 240c mainly. Heck even my PLA I run at 214c

My parts look the same when my first layer is too low.

Not sure what all that was...
Seems like you dont like Blender and needed to vent about it.
Alright use a better software.

You are using a PC power supply. Check the voltage and make sure its at least 12v
I have a "LED" power supply from Amazon that I adjusted to 12.3v and I have no issues getting to even ABS temps.
60c is maybe 2-3 minutes for me.

That ringing is well beyond what most i3's can do

Just get a new PSU. The PC ones are for PCs not printers.
They are like 20 bucks on amazon.

Hope you have the heatsink fan going 100% on that hot end.
Also ive found that I need to print PLA "hotter" on my V5 hotend

Not really sure what all I just tried to read...
For what its worth, I use Cura for slicing and use Pronterface to run the code *if I run from the PC*
Normally I post the code to an SD card and run it from the printers LCD screen.

Agreed. Pins 2-3 have to be bridged together for 12v. You leave them apart for 24v operation.
See my picture. This is for 12v

I have mine in one bundle coming from the hot end up to the top of my frame. Been years without issues.

AGREED!
.4mm nozzle should never print .4mm layers!
Highest I go is .3mm on my .4mm tip.
