The Skeinforge plugin is AGPL like the rest of Skeinforge. The firmware is GPLv3 like Sprinter.

Skeinforge
I wrote a Skeinforge plugin that adds a new G-Code command, M240, to trigger a camera to take a photograph. This allows you to create time-lapse videos at one frame per layer of print. Two of the modes also allow for the location of the platform to be aligned between frames. One uses the minimum Y, minimum X corner of each layer as the photograph position and the other just tries to minimize t

Evidently there is less overlap between the real life science fiction decentralized open source currency people and the real life science fiction decentralized open source fabrication people than I expected there to be.

Plastic RepRap Parts for Sale
I'm doing my part to bootstrap the Bitcoin economy by selling a set of SAE Prusa Mendel parts in PLA. The set includes a Wade's, PLA bushings, and a pile of spare parts. More information is up on my blog. The price is 5 BTC shipped USPS Priority Mail in the US.

Plastic RepRap Parts for Sale
I was actually about to start printing a set of parts with the goal of selling them for bitcoins. It's good to see that there is existing interest for such a thing. It'll probably be a week or so before I have a full set of parts printed ready.

I use power resistors in aluminum JB-Welded to a 1.5mm aluminum sheet. The sheet has Kapton tape on top for when I want to print ABS, and I lay a sheet of single strength glass on top of it for when I want to use PLA.
The resistors are powered by 120V AC and are turned on or off by a relay that is switched by a MOSFET on the RAMPS board.
I have a writeup with pictures.
It's nice in that it wa

Everywhere a perimeter starts? Or simply at the start of each layer? A slow Z move could certainly result in a blob per layer, and would take a half second or so.

Nope, unfortunately not. You can see this by adjusting Corner Feed Rate over Operating Feed Rate in Fillet. The X, Y, and Z values remain the same, since it uses the same points. The F value decreases, since it is moving slower. The E value increases, since it is being calculated as described above, resulting in more filament being deposited along the same path.

Both have 8KB of RAM, so the buffer sizes can be the same. If you limit the line length to 128 bytes, which is likely pretty realistic, you could probably buffer at least 32 lines.
What firmware are you using?

RAMPS Electronics
It's not really clear to me why both flow rate and feed rate are in the calculation for E now. If this is volumetric, shouldn't it be entirely volumetric. That is, E is currently something like:
E = ((flow_rate * (extrusion_area/filament_area))/feed_rate) * distance
Shouldn't it just be:
E = (extrusion_area/filament_area) * distance
Edit:
I've edited my dimension.py to do it this way.

I used the GP1A51HRJ00F on mine, which are basically a drop in replacement, with the exception that the mounting holes are perpendicular to what the H21LOB has.

Controllers
I found it easiest to just run directly off of AC for the heated bed, and power the electronics and hot end of a separate cheap DC power supply. I'm running 5 35 ohm in series on 120VAC. I think your best bet would be use 4 of the resistors. 2 pairs of parallel resisors in series, for 6.8 ohms total resistance.
At 24VAC, thats 85W. I'm at 88W, and I've used it at 110C, which was enough for A

Resurrecting an old topic, but I've just done this: http://eclecti.cc/hardware/facecube-copy-real-life-with-a-kinect-and-3d-printer
This is only from a single view, so the utility is somewhat limited. It wouldn't be too difficult to form a complete mesh of an object on a turn table though.

3D Scanners, Book Scanners, and Optics
I and a few people I've talked to in IRC have all had slowness issues running the RAMPS Tonokip firmware. The issue was that the axes would move at the correct speed while not extruding, but during extruding they would slow down dramatically.
I initially thought perhaps the stepper loop wasn't fast enough to run in real time at 1/16th microstepping, so I replaced digitalWrite and digitalRead wi

To add to this config per board theme, I submitted a pull request that turns the placeholder config.ramps.h into one that functions on RAMPS v1.1. I tested manual axis and extruder movement using repsnapper, but haven't actually tried printing anything.
Just an attempt at lowering the barriers for anyone interesting in trying out this firmware on RAMPS.

Firmware - experimental, borrowed, and future
Looks like a bug in preprocessing in Arduino-0022. I'm seeing the same issue. If you comment out the HardwareSerial.h include or move the WProgram.h include above it in FiveD_GCode_Interpreter, it works fine.
#include "WProgram.h"
#include <HardwareSerial.h>
