While I'm sure this ethos was around early on in reprap...
Nah, it still happens all the time. It just doesn't get blogged or wikied, so in internet terms it doesn't exist.

I remember how, when the Reprap project began, there was a slogan at the top-left of the homepage that read - "Wealth without money". This seems to have been somewhat de-emphasized since then, as I had to search the wiki to find it.

Hmmm. If I remember properly, we took it down from the front page after a massive de-rail/argument/philosophy/cat fight

We do have this which puts down one fiber at a time:

2012 Bay Area Maker Faire would probably be May 26-27.

Ah ... yes. Some people were very insistent that we give a shout out to one particular entrepreneur, Bits From Bytes, using the front page, and Adrian didn't want to explain to them how it is highly unfair bias to demonstrate favoritism to one and only one entrepreneur yet, especially one who maintains a separ

It requires one library administrator with the right access permissions and a few hours
to actually think about page navigation in the wiki and what people may be looking for and how
to make it obvious and easy for them to find what is offered.
Marcus, would you like to sketch out what you mean as a new wiki page?

Well, we do need folk like you following

doing up new pages (with photos, renders) and making sense of the wiki.

Relegation of "Adult" and "Weapons" discussions without models attached *may* be
a potentially acceptable middle ground where the forum can have limitations markings
applied to such discussion sections of the forum?
So, we play host to a 'let's design a plastic derringer (no kids)' forum ... and then 6 months later a child accidentally uses the model the adults designed to slay a playmate ...

Well, we're somewhat busy deleting spam.
I'll have a word with Buzz and Dave about deploying a new mediawiki extension; there may be a technical solution.

It's an important place to see and be seen. It'd be good to have a thoughtfully set up and well attended space there.

Hmmm ... these are the "Official" electronics, as far as random folk have told the wiki:
http://reprap.org/wiki/Official_Electronics
At some point it will know about the "Gen X Electronics" and the "Gen 10 Electronics" (I'm trying to get Camiel to name that one the "Salmon Electronics" so that he doesn't get red-queened by the Gen 11 Electronics guy the next day.
According to Kliment:

And I am really wondering what happened to the RepRap community.
... We're very slightly disorganized. And we're not really sure who's in charge.
You guys think Wade or I am in charge and should set up the booth. And I think you guys are in charge and should set up the booth. Since you guys are "Official" and so on, if you say that you're running the "Official RepRap Booth", that booth is

I'd suggest a t-slot (aluminum extrusion) RepStrap done up in the wiki. With a good write-up and a parts list like WolfStrap or the 1X2 bots.
No one has done this, and it has been five years now.
I think what happens is once they get the machine working, they lose interest in writing it up. Because they have what they need, so they're gone. It is a little bit frustrating. I created a dedicated

I have tried looking for the required information on the wiki site, but to be quite honest I find it draining. I know that most, if not all, the information is in there somewhere, but it wears me out trying to access it.
Our documentation is an organic process, I'm afraid. As you get going building your machine, please polish the wiki a bit for the next guy, eh?

Don't forget to stuff some cad files in here:

Doing the cad files as a last step that keeps getting put off results in lots of drama.

The wiki is best:
You can do a stand-alone page like this:
http://reprap.org/wiki/LaserCut_Mendel_Assembly_For_Complete_Beginners
That stuff is easy to remix into more formal documentation.
Also, join the reprap-dev mailing list, since you are probably a developer.

Could you guys polish that page so that it glows like a jewel?

It is difficult to say from our current documentation on it:
http://reprap.org/wiki/Orca
But Camiel stands by his work, so it is probably a quite good machine and an
improvement on Prusa Mendel.
We have a well defined procedure we enact in such cases, which
is that we talk you into buying and building one so that we find out that yes,
it is a good machine, merely one which currently lacks com

Yes, the original Mendel is the Sells Mendel
I'm not sure the wiki knows the "Sells Mendel" term. We probably need to tweak the wiki accordingly, since it is leading to new-folk confusion.
so unless you are planning to do a lot of demos and shows
I've always felt twitchy about this bit. When you're doing a demo or show, you want to drag out the big iron, not an undersized machine.
