Pssssssffft.... I can mold and cast 100 pieces for 10% of that protomold cost. I am currently casting an extruder for my Rostock. I can't stand using an FDM part for any mechanical purpose. Dogisht. IMHO.by frankenfrankenstuff - Delta Machines
I have had some success at aluminum.casting but.more from the sand casting approach. Instead we f working like a machinist woodworker and creating a pattern for making the sand mold....I 3d print the pattern using my files scadd to the proper size. There are many different casting alloys out there and would not advise dumping too much time into anything read on a forum. Meet the foundry. Very nice. I saw your pics and did somthig similar. I have tried several hot ends and the "J" head is the only one that doesn't melt filament before hot end. What are the feed rates you are using?by frankenfrankenstuff - Delta Machines
He used a vinyl sticker, not real carbon fiber. That would be another test. Rolls of shelf liner vinyl is cheap though....how about Formica? Or countertop laminate? Strong and flexible.by frankenfrankenstuff - Delta Machines
I am so late to the party....I am building the original Rostock and cant imagine anything else.....except...I would like to simplify the original design into 3 castings. (top, bottom and 3 carriages) When building mine I went nuts with all of those captured nuts and crummy printed through holes. I want to make a kit for future delta builders. I can mold and cast the parts for less than what someby frankenfrankenstuff - Delta Machines
I just swiped some .03 polycarb sheet that (pardon me) Stratasys uses on their large format FDM machines. I am using ABS in my Rostock right now and tried the blue tape. no dice. I saw one guy using aluminum foil?? is that brilliant or folly. I like the "carbon fiber" look....it is strange to see in the pics because the print itself is almost carbon fiber in texture. reflection?by frankenfrankenstuff - Delta Machines
OK so the fix I found was.....to just pull the 3 jumpers out from under the driver. 10mm now extrudes a bit over 10mm. Done.by frankenfrankenstuff - Delta Machines
I am over a year late to the discussion and your solution...I want to understand. I have a 5:1 geared nema17 and I too ( though yours is fixed) am getting little extrusion. In repetier I can adjust speed and amount manually but, when I run a program...slow. I am using Marlin straight from download. I only added LCD. Can I fiddle E axis speed in Marlin?by frankenfrankenstuff - Delta Machines
nailed it. I had them all plugged in willy nilly. Great forum. Great help. Drinks on me tonight. Carriages just went up so silky.....I can't thank you enough for the help. I was so stuck in the programming that I never looked at the wiring. Noob +1by frankenfrankenstuff - Delta Machines
I am using terminal blocks to connect motors to ramps jumpers.....could that be it? End stops work nice when under LCD smart controller command..-jogging.by frankenfrankenstuff - Delta Machines
;still not solved. I tried slowing down the rate to50%.... but now it just grinds llonger. End stops register but don't stop motors?by frankenfrankenstuff - Delta Machines
Just read through the rules and formatting of forum....oops. I will post a video of the crash tonight.by frankenfrankenstuff - Delta Machines
Rubber Plastic Aluminum (sand cast)by frankenfrankenstuff - Job Shop: I make stuff!
My website is www.fb-stuff.com for reference of some parts that I make and sell for myself. I can cast in rubber, plastic and foam. I will add pics to this thread soon.by frankenfrankenstuff - Job Shop: I make stuff!
I have the same issue in pronterface....but not in repetier. I keep switching back and forth. They seem to both react differently with the same g code?by frankenfrankenstuff - Delta Machines
Also. ..am I allowed to post links to websites? Or my build blog?by frankenfrankenstuff - Delta Machines
OK boys. I have been lurking through this forum for most of my build. I have plenty of mistakes that I learned from but....The frigging "home" end stop issues are making are making me confused. This is a regular rostock design using Marlin and Ramps 1.4 with mechanical endstops. #1) Pronterface recognizes when the endstops are triggered but wont stop the motors. The carriages just crank up,by frankenfrankenstuff - Delta Machines

Dang it! You know your blog is the excact frigging thing that I was looking for when I started my rostock build. I have all of the same components as you. Right now I am trying to get through mechanical endstop issues....the reason I have joined this forum. I will be watching your build.
