Re 3dkarma: I did revert the PID value back to original one, but didn't fix the lock up problem. Re james: I'm quite sure I'm using the latest repetier software and marlin firmware. Re pushthatbolder: I have set the repetier to 2 extruders.by duckfriedrice - General
Thanks very much for your reply ~ The first two layers do print with 2 extruders, ie. the skirt and brim are printed with both extruders simultaneously Extruder 1 is ABS set to print temp at 225C Extruder 2 is PLA set to print temp at 185C I've auto tune the extruder's PID a couple of times, the temp curve looks fine to me when print the first 2 layers But I have a curious question about theby duckfriedrice - General
I have just upgraded my prusa i3 from single extruder to dual extruder ! But here is the nightmare starts. It always freezes at the same place towards the beginning of a print. This always freezes when printing at the very end of layer 2 of a print, while I'm printing with dual extruder. But if I upload the previous firmware for single extruder, the print is fine. When print freezes, its kinby duckfriedrice - General
Nope, tried to replace the 50a psu with another one but still halt in the middle of the print, happened at around layer 6 I then uploaded the previous marlin that was set to single extruder and guess what, wohoo it worked with single extruder firmware I'm struggling with this dual extruder T_Tby duckfriedrice - General
Hi there, I'm using a 12V 50A PSU Heated bed is powered through 25A Solid state relay I will try to use another PSU tonight thxby duckfriedrice - General
Cool thx, I'll try to speed up the retraction speed later I've installed heatsink and 40mm fan at the back of X and Y stepper motors Room temperature at around 20C I've tried to print with both computer and LCD2004, but no matter how simple the model is, the print would begin to halt at around layer 3 Last night I've tried printing the object with no support The printer can print the whole objby duckfriedrice - General
I've checked the temperature of the stepper drivers, they are at good temp while printing. I have a strong 80mm fan blowing right over the ramps 1.4 Temp on the ramps should not be a problem i'm using a 0.4mm nozzle, retraction speed at 35mm/s, retraction length at 7mm Both hotends are bowden systemby duckfriedrice - General
I've tried slic3r and cura to slice my models, but when the print gets to around third layer, the printer will halt. The printer continues to halt even if I kill print, I had to disconnect and reconnect repetier or press the reset button on the ramps board, in order to get the printer move normally again. Otherwise the printer will continue to halt. I'm using the most updated marlin The folby duckfriedrice - General
Hi reprapers, Been playing with my prusa mendel i3 - single extruder for a year now, Happy to say its print quality is excellent with relatively small and bulky objects But no matter what, printing with single extruder is still weak at tackling overhang objects. Few months ago, I have upgraded my i3 to dual extruder. Hoping to print one head with ABS and the other with PLA as support materialby duckfriedrice - General
Hi All My prusa medel i3 heated bed takes about 40 minutes to heat up to 90C I've installed isolation material at the bottom of the bed and replaced the old PSU to a 12V 30A power supply to try to speed up this heating time. I've read some threads previously about wiring Solid State Relay to the heated bed that can speed up the heating time. I've bought a fotek SSR relay from ebay but not suby duckfriedrice - Reprappers
Hi all I'm upgrading my prusa mendel i3 from a single direct feed extruder to dual bowden extruders. But two of the stepper motors i have has different gear ratios. In marlin, what can I do to calibrate the steps/unit for the two motors? thanks allby duckfriedrice - Reprappers
sorry, finally have the chance to get my hands into the printer again. checked the speed setting in marlin for z axis changed the z speed to 3mm/sec and the printer is working fine again the z motors have not stalled from this change but strange, im pretty sure the old marlin firmware works with 5mm/secby duckfriedrice - Reprappers
Hi All, I'm a mechanics and very weak at the electronics side, I want to build a roller that turns in very consistant low speed with high torque for over 24 hours. I have got a PWM controller with digital display module connected to a 12V DC motor. But I've realized that the motor is reducing speed at really low rate over time. I want to somehow connect the existing system with a PID contrby duckfriedrice - Controllers
Yes sdavi The 3142 was wrong, should be 4045 after calibration, but the stalling problem still doesnt workby duckfriedrice - Reprappers
I've just uploaded both the new and old firmware above. Hope someone can help out , many thanksby duckfriedrice - Reprappers
I have just uploaded the lastest Marlin firmware to my Prusa Mendel i3 today, and the Z-axis keep stalling when ever it moves. With the previously installed Marlin installed, there was no problem at all I looked up the Gcode and noticed that the speed for the Z axis are quite fast Something like G1 Z0.300 F7200.000 / G1 Z1.500 F7200.000 Also noticed that the default custom gcode in slic3rby duckfriedrice - Reprappers
Cool, can you assist me how to change the D11 to other pins please I'm going to get a fan extender this week, how can I assign the specific pins for print fan please ? thanksby duckfriedrice - General
Hi All, I'm upgrading my newly built corexy printer from single extruder to dual extruders. Already got a heated bed, so D8,D9,D10 will all be used up. Looking up the internet, I see that there is a module called RDD fan extender for ramps board, but it will use up all the pins in the servo pins (D11,D6,D5,D4) BUT ah......I have a servo on D11 for the auto bed levelling Z Endstop. Hi there, apology for the late reply I've been out of town for the last few weeks Yes pdavg, I've gone through the G92 X0 Y0 Z0, and M114 calibration a couple of times But the Z value is not so consistent. Whenever I start to print, the Z height is sometimes too low or too high. Normally I'll let the print carry on for a minute to see if the Z bed move while printing, just to make sure autoby duckfriedrice - Reprappers
I'm testing out support material with Slic3r, Cura, Meshmixer recently for overhangs Would like to know if Slic3r has settings for X/Y gap and Z gap between perimeters. Slic3r Support material is the easiest to remove, but the gap between Outer perimeters and support material in Z axis is too far (around 1mm gap). This causes the first or lowest point of the overhangs to be sagging around 1mmby duckfriedrice - Slic3r
Hi Reprapers Recently I'm having a bit of problem printing overhangs or angle greater than 50 degrees I've tried Slic3r and Cura for support material, am still exploring which one is better. I'd like to know what others out there are using for slicing their STL. Please share your experience with some successful prints photos and settings. Wohoo Thanks for all the help in this forum, the printer is finally running But yet there are few more issues that I'd like to share, good news and not so good news Good news is, the servo is working i.e. The Servo works with Z homing and G29 command (Bed leveling command) And the not so good news are as follows: 1. Hi there reprapers I have just built a corexy printer with auto bed leveling servo probe. There are number of issues come up every now and then. 1.
